Carson Wentz...........Anyone?

So he's most likely going to be released the Colts before his bonus of $7 Million is due in March.

He would look good in Black & Gold, he was never used properly in Philthy!

Thoughts?
No, not type type to build a team around. His best days are done. Now if we can't get a QB in round 1 or 2, and he'll pay for 3 million a year, okay but he's medicare and injury prone. Better than Rudy, but that is not saying much.

Well **** if he is Medicare he is big business. He has to be rolling in the dough which means he would have no problem signing on the cheap.😁

fine.

let's go with Rudy and go 0-17 for the next few seasons, ******** on the careers of TJ, Minkah, Najee and Muth.
**** 'em, right?

some of you doom and gloom ************* need to pull your heads out of the noose before you take that final step off the ledge.
Not doom & gloom, but giving up two first round picks for a QB like Murray is hard to swallow when those #1 picks are so valuable when there are obtainable/cheaper QBs to be had and still sure up the glaring needs. I don't think we are as close as you think they are, but we can agree to disagree.
Tuitt probably won't be back, Haden is a goner, JuJu is probably a goner, Edmunds may be gone, Alaulu may be 50/50 and there are others that will need replaced/positions filled. I just don't see them as close as you, but it's cool. I admire your optimism.

Drunk by 7PM...impressive!

Tomlin has publicly stated that he wants a veteran QB next season so the Steelers WILL be signing someone. We also know that the whole front office is gushing over Willis for this draft class and I believe that they will do everything they can to make him a Steeler. It's going to be an epic fail next season. Grab the popcorn guys!!

Wentz is a stubborn poor decision-maker. That is all...
Well that's funny, because Wentz's stubborn poor decision-making led to 7 interceptions and 8 fumbles in 17 starts in 2021....while Tua (10 INTs and 9 fumbles in 12 starts), and Hurts (9 INTs and 9 fumbles in 15 starts), and Haskins (14 INTs and 12 fumbles in 13 career starts) all have much higher such ratios.

So how, exactly, would you deem their decision-making any better than that of Wentz?

Wanna cookie???

I don't want Wentz either. I know this isn't the popular but Rudolph should get the job. None of us here know what he can or can't do yet. I can't see giving up preimum draft capital at this pivitol point of the re-build. Last season they ignored the OL and picked 1st two "wants" which is OK but with that you need to pay the piper sooner than later. This year is the year of pay.

We need three "trench warfare" players of starter quality and thats with Tuitt coming back on "D".

Salute the nation

Sorry DIC, Rudolph shouldn't just get the job. Rudolph, Haskins and a vet QB/draft pick should all have to battle it out for the job. Best performer wins. Nobody gets handed anything.

Ok say they don't pick up an upgrade in free agency and decide to go with Rudy. How are you on a week to week basis watching the offense average 12 points. Can you handle that for 17 games? Think the O was bad last year you ain't seen nothing yet.
Slash, your correct! The offense would be truly offensive in a bad way. The silver lining would be we have a losing record God forbid Tomlin has a losing season, and we draft in the top 10 and draft our QB next year. I could live with that next year providing we use the this year's draft and FA to build the OL and DL, ILB,CB and WR. So we have a losing season, we did in 2003 and were able to land Ben at #11 spot. Of course we have to be ready to go nuts here on this board next season calling for Rudy and Haskin's first born, but that's just going to be part of it. I'm willing to sacrifice a bad season if it means we re-build and fill some holes, and get our QB next year. I've been pimping for Mitch Trubisky as a bridge QB that would probably keep us respectable and maybe no losing season but won't get us a top 10. Depends what we want here. I just don't think our QB lives in this draft.

Oh, and BTW, how many INTs did Peyton Manning throw in his rookie season??? https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/peyton-manning-rookie-year-stats

You can click on the link or...

Ol' Berm will supply the numbers since you started it:

Games played = 16
TDs = 26
INTs = 28

If we sign Wentz we should also see if Ryan Leaf will come out of retirement. And see if we can acquire Sam Darnold. We might as well complete our stable of first round QB busts.

I would be ok with Sam Darnold as an interm. He has been on a couple of ****** teams.

but 2021 was not a rookie season for Tua or Hurts.

i don’t think Hurts will ever be great. He’s just not a good enough passer. He gets by with his legs. Tua could possibly be great but something is missing with him. He’s not a killer. Part of that may be that he was coached conservatively at Bama and then with the dolphins so his mentality is to not screw it up rather than to go make plays.

Tua reminds me of Mariota. He was OK for Tenn but they wanted to be a run first and play defense team so Mariota looked stifled. If Tua played for a guy like Arians who would encourage him to play balls out, maybe he’d emerge. He’d probably lead the league in INTs like Winston did but it also might give him the playmaker mentality.

I really think the biggest thing that separates good QB from great is knowing when to be aggressive and when to take the safe play. The bulk of QBs are stuck as either the safe guy who makes few plays or the gunslinger who makes plays but also throws games away.

I respect this, Tape

Thing is probably doesn't take much to upgrade Rudy. If the team thinks he does then you do it. Unless there is someone they feel they can get that upgrades Wentz and so on...
And so on...
Rudy isn't terrible, he's average. Just that after watching Ben for 18 years average looks terrible.

Tomlin has a hard-on for a mobile QB.
Murray fits that to a T
He's also got game experience and likely needs a change of environment

How are we not a few pieces away? Ben - on his last goddamn leg - got us into the playoffs...after we TIED Detroit with Rudy at the helm. Our defense will be solid if we get Tuitt back and resign Adams at NT. Our offense needs a few pieces on the line. KC added a C and RG in the last draft and made the AFC Championship game. Who's to say we cannot add a RT and RG in the draft, or find a couple solid vets to go on the line?

KC had already made 3 straight AFC championship games before that. not even close to Pittsburgh's situation, so it's ridiculous to use them as an example.

And hopefully not our starting QB next season---but...

If we run the wheels off Rudy we could win 3 maybe 4 games and get a shot at Bryce Young (yeah, GO BAMA) next year!!!
If they win 3 games they should trade up to number 1 overall. But in that event a certain Ohio State QB should be the ⛏️.

🤓

That's a big old suck bucket. I wouldn't want an Alabama qb for nothing. The NFL isn't college when the difference in talent between some schools is as wide as the grand canyon.

Just roll with the guys we have this year. Nobody is saving this collapse and rebuild that needs to be done. Just embrace more suck that's coming.

No thanks. We already have QBs that suck so it is not a need at this time. All the suck is covered.
