Cee Dee Lamb was placed on the reserved/did not report list

You add to talent then worry about scenarios later. The team needs to win more than it has been. You help that along by shoring up weaknesses.
Breaking the bank paying a borderline top 10 WR like he's league best after 1 above avg season on a superbowl caliber offense is never a justifiable move. Even if you have a QB which gives you a legit shot at winning it all, which i don't think we have.
If they want to throw caution to the wind atleast throw the bag to Lamb instead of Aiyuk.
I don't know what the Steelers are thinking? Are they delusional enough to believe Aiyuk is worth top of the league contract? They can't be that stupid

....

They were supposedly offering an average of 28.5... that would put him fifth, but next year's ufas have several that will surpass that... heck Lamb may get over 35 this season... chase might get 38... .. wr salaries are taking off... a 20 million dollar deal is barely top 20 now... cooks at 22nd make a bit over 19 million.. 28.5 is a couple million high, but not a gross overpayment...

So they bring in Aiyuk and now you create issues with your number one George Pickens. That’s not smart imo!
I’d rather try and trade for a number two which is a possibility as training camps progress. There will be teams out there that are sellers so rather than overpay for this guy, wait.

For a team that hasn't won a playoff game in 7 seasons, I am genuinely surprised that so many are against the Steelers making an out-of-the-box move to try to win this year before their defensive stars age too much. Also, I have doubts it even happens. But you are right, try to win now and worry about future issues in the future.

I'll add I keep seeing comments that they don't have a Super Bowl-caliber QB. Who cares? These 9-8 seasons with first-round playoff exits are getting old. Go out there and try to win a playoff game or two. Fans used to want to fire a HC because he couldn't win a home AFCC game, despite making it 6 times in 15 years. Despite the heartbreak, those years were fun because the Steelers were in it. They've been irrelevant for too long and I'm ready for a playoff win.

Yep, the Steelers aren't going to pay someone more than Watt, who is one of the best players in the entire league. $28.5 is more than reasonable for a receiver of Aiyuk's calibert and will be a relative bargain in 2-3 years as other receivers pass him up. In 4 years Mahomes, who should still be a top-3 paid QB, went from the highest paid QB to the 11th.

Get a case of Mad Dog and play the Rocky challenge with friends... aka watch all four Rocky's:
Drink once per punch
Once per mention of Adrian
Twice per jogging
chug maddog through every training montage and the theme song
... till only one man is standing...
And eat Tim Tams throughout.

What do the Steelers do when they overpay for Aiyuk and Pickens plays better?? That would be like giving harris a huge contract with Warren outplaying him.
Steelers have a history of ruining morale with the WR 1. Remember when Ju Ju was voted team MVP? Very disrespectful to AB who was light years more valuable than JuJu. The nail in the coffin for what was left of the killer bees.
This Aiyuk trade has disaster written all over it. Not only would they overpay for Aiyuk they could sour the relationship with the true #1 in Pickens. Lose lose
Pickens is a disaster in the waiting, nearly regardless of what the team does. His act of not even "getting in the way" of a potential tackler said it all about what we have with him: ultra selfish, ultra self-centered, non-team oriented. It's hard to win with that sort of player on the team. If Aiyuk is gonna make him pout and fly off the handle, so be it. But no way is Aiyuk worth two #1s. No way.

28.5 is too steep, guy is borderline top 10. You pay him 28 and GP outplays him then what do you do?

you trade him and get your 2nd round back?
Trade the better guy so you can overpay for a less productive replacement?? Sounds like good business

You can't put the genie back in the bottle, if you will, obviously, with the ever changing market and 'new age' players - 28.5 will be laughed at next year...

If Aiyuk comes here on a 28 million contract and gets outplayed by Pickens everyone but the Steelers will be laughing

I let them figure out who is worth what. They always seem to have a decent nose for figuring that out. The Steelers can pay a WR good money they don’t need to break the bank. Just make it attractive enough that they bite. If you think you are getting a quality WR without shelling out some tim tam thank you mams I have some bad news for ya.

He is a better route runner than GP, I think they would complement each other nicely. It isn’t about who out performs who. It is about advancing in the playoffs. You can’t get side tracked from the prize.

Again, iron sharpens iron.

P.S. Looks like SF woke up and they're back at the table w/ Brandon trying to keep him...this drama is just that - DRAMA...

Brandon already shot that report down. Saying there is two options out there pick one. Meaning nothing is new it is either the Steelers or back to the Niners. Basically telling the people posting the crap to stop.😅

Overpaying Aiyuk at 28 mil is flat out retarded. Obviously some guys are worth paying that kind of money. Not a borderline top 10 WR like Aiyuk

Yes when it comes to close to 30 million a year it is 100% who outperforms who. Can't pay 2 recievers that money

Especially not in an Art Smith O. No way.

Just because you keep saying paying a top-10 WR $28 million is overpaying doesn't mean you are going to be right. That is probably the minimum going rate for receivers of his caliber right now.

You may be right, but to give TWO 1st rounds on top of it to get him? Not worth it.

I thought that was what SF wanted for the trade?
You should stop believing everything you stumble across. 3/4 of those trade related reports are false.
