Chuks Is Back (Sigh)

This one just really irks me. Chuks is heading into his 5th year. He didn't improve in his 1st 4 years. They were grooming him to be a starting LT and he just could never learn. He was a turnstile in the preseason at LT. He was our RT last year out of necessity and now they are choosing to make him the starter for the next 4 years. It makes no sense. Moore was better than Chuks at LT as a damn rookie and he wasn't a top pick in the draft.
He only gave up 2 sacks and 23 pressures and 3 TFL... Moore gave up 7 sacks and 47 pressures... Chuks biggest issue was penalties. I think they gave him to much but I think they were happy with his production. Moore gets a pass because he was a rookie.

I am sure his age factored in. You bring in an older pricier version and he gets hurt you are back to square one.

Or you now bring in a C,G,CB and SS and nothing stops you from drafting a RT if he is BPA in 1.

I bring in a LG move big dot to RG. He should be able to help in the run by Chuks.

That's a good plan but definately need to bring in OL help, STARTING whether draft or FA.

We gave this POS 29 million for 3 years with20.5 million for the first 2 years, typical Steelers overvaluing their own players.

I get you dont like the signing but calling a player a POS? did the guy do something to you?

Some are overly passionate and forget their mannors while others feel like it is their team and want what's best at all cost(s). MOST don't know the player at all and would never reconize them in public unless they had their jersey number on.

So to summerize it's hard to catagorize individuals whether on the team or just civilians into a certain agenda / catagory.

He is a POS as a player. I could give a **** what he is like as a person. He just stole 29 million from.the team I don't think he gives a **** about me orr any of the fans. It is a business and we just made a horrible business decision.

This is where I am with Chuks. He's young and hasn't really shown much in terms of sizeable growth. On top of this, if they're trying to build a ground game with a power blocking offensive line for Harris, Okorafor isn't a good run blocker. It doesn't make sense.

more like the team gave it away, in this cases I blame the FO, not the players.

"We" eh?

Methinks our personnel department doesn't realize the offensive line sucks.

Resigning mediocre to poor players on your weakest group is a recipe for failure. Ben masked his poor pass protection with his getting rid of the ball in 2 seconds. Trubisky is a guy that takes time to get through his reads and is known to hold onto the ball too long. Chucks will get him killed.

Well then Canada will have to give Trubisky a nice motivational speech before each game.

Guess you're not eating for the month??? Did he steal it from you???

If his 2 sacks was poor pass protection what does that say about Turner and Moore who gave up seven each while Ben was getting rid of the ball in 2 seconds...

Exactly but it looks like we're putting the band back together again. This coaching staff has no clue how to fix an OLine,oh well.

His past 2 years would say different...

According to whom? PFF ranks Okorafor as the 50th best offensive tackle in the NFL for the 2021 season.

50th.

Personally, I'm shocked to learn that 12 offensive tackles ranked lower than him.

Paying a guy top 10 RT money is asinine. He is a finesse RT that can't run block.

Well there are 2 OTs on each starting line so...

I was pissed when we thought he was getting 8 million per only to find out they gave him $10 million per. Are you ******* kidding me? We needed to improve our OL so they way overpay for one of their scrub OL over the last 4 years and they bring in a scrub C to compete for a job. That is not what I or anyone should call improving the OL. WTF are they thinking? Colbert has lost it.

Look at the contract. He costs $4.5M this season and can be cut if he doesn't pan out. If he improves, this is a cheap contract for an OT in this league.

We'll see, but I think it is going to become more clear how Ben's inability to do certain things anymore really hamstrung this OL.

C'mon...what did defenses fear in the offense from last year. The deep ball was non-existent, he was a statue so they always knew where he was going to be. Defenses could crowd the box because of no deep threat and stop a lot of the short throws and running game.

I love Ben, but the truth is he limited the offense big time the last few years, IMO.

As long as they actually sign someone (or two) that will improve the OL. So far, they have not. They actually lost Turner (unless they decide to resign him) so you can say the OL still got worse. The only good things are Moore will definitely be better and Green probably will as well.

You are looking at a one day process as the final result. It isn't. More will be added in free agency or the draft. Plus you have a relatively young group. So naturally there is room for improvement.
