Chuks Is Back (Sigh)

You are looking at a one day process as the final result. It isn't. More will be added in free agency or the draft. Plus you have a relatively young group. So naturally there is room for improvement.
I understand that but there were guys they could have had already. Why give Chuks $10 million per year. Yes, I know how his contract is structured but in 4 years, he has shown nothing to warrant even this type of contract. The OL was terrible. He was one of the worst pieces. So far, only Moore (pretty much a definite) and Green still have the ceiling to improve. I sure hope they sign at least one "legit" OL starter and then draft one in the 1st 2 rounds along with DL.

So, you figure Dotson doesn't have the ceiling to improve? He only has one more year in the league than Moore and Green.

and Mason Cole is just 25, he might have room to improve too

Though I was expecting a more experienced vet added to the line

The only positive about this is Chuks is only 24 (25 when season begins) and should be hitting his prime years.

The bad is Roethlisberger saved his butt time and time again getting the ball out of his hands in less than 2 seconds. I feel a 2 year 10 million dollar deal would have been more appropriate. Maybe some game play incentives. 100k per start. That gives him incentive to beat out whoever would be his competition.

Poor signing in my opinion. Hopefully, Chuks finally turns potential into reality and proves me wrong.

Chuks going on his 5th line coach? Did munch have him as a rookie? Cant remember but I think it’s the coaching and I don’t think the new guy is a big up grade in that department… I have tape of chuks just not moving his feet and “reaching and grabbing” his man. We are talking about the game of “football” chuks would do well to remember that and move his fukn feet!!!! My old high school coach would have had a field day with chuks lol

Correction: I wrote that Okorafor was ranked 50th among offensive tackles by PFF. Actually, he ranked 61st among the 83 tackles rated.

Sixty-*******-first where a total of 64 start any given week.

"Oooh, but PFF is crap, their ratings are awful." PFF reviews every play for every player in the NFL, assigns a numerical grade based on the role the player was to have and how well the player performed that role. Shocking but the good players - Trent Williams, Tyron Smith, Tristan Wirfs, Lane Johnson, La'el Collins, Donavan Smith - rated high and the bad players did not.

Villanueva, for example, we knew had problems last year. He ranked 54th out of 83 tackles. Bad. But seven spots BETTER than Upchuck.

I think I would've a preferred a move more along the lines of this for RT.

Sounds like a perfect replacement for Al. I don't know much about this guy but why so cheap and why was he let go from his team ?

Salute the nation

For a guy that only let up 2 sacks last year, He's better than PFF's metric.

He is a massive part of the reason why Ben got rid of the ball faster than any other QB in the NFL last year and why the Steelers did not throw deep passes in 2021.

This one hurts, a lot.
Cheaper over the course of the deal and a better player. I was fine with five new starters, a move like that would've given us at least three new starters.

I hoped the team would use their #1 or #2 pick on a RT who anchors that side of the field for the next ten seasons, and another top pick on a #1 WR. My concern is that Tomlin and Colbert feel they have addressed every need and can try and draw to an inside straight by picking up a mediocre QB prospect, hoping he turns into Kyler Murray, while passing on guys like Elam, McDuffie, Penning, Metchie, Faalele, Raimann, Pickens, Watson, etc.

But that's not my point, it's that he would dominate chuk even easier and Moses costs less
Hard to argue the point. They felt they needed to lock up Chuks and that's done.

Steelers are giving their right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor a three-year, $29.25 million deal, including $20.5 million in first two years, per source.

Okay, 1 ) who else was bidding on one of the worst starting tackles according the metrics and 2 ) who else is shocked we pay this much for mediocrity? Not a fan of this move. A rookie started at Chucks at left tackle. He didn't move anyone vs. the run and our passes were too short for good pass blocking in general. Still he had 8 flags.

You are like a week late to the conversation

Was anyone after his services if so who? I take it you agree he was over paid. Sorry I did not read about who was bidding for his services.

Are you really going to start doing this bullshit again? There's a whole damned thread on the Chuks re-signing. EVERYTHING you bring up here has been discussed AD NAUSEAM in that thread.
Do us all a favor and don't start this attention ***** stuff. Take the time to see if there's already a thread regarding whatever issue you're about to bring up. If there is one, post your opinion in that thread. If there isn't one, post away.
OH!! And while there isn't a limit on how many threads one person can start on a given day, please try to limit yourself to realistic issues regarding the Steelers. I know it will be harder for you the closer we get to the draft. Thankfully, the Browns will not have 3 first-round picks to trade for our punter.

you know there is this thing called the internet where you can search for answers to questions like this

that is why we have the merge function

I still can’t for the life of me understand how this happened. It could very well be the difference between having Tyrann Matheiu back there with Minkah or the return of mr. out of position T Edmunds…

He had at least one team possibly more looking at him. On a semi weak market. That contract has no bearing on how Minkah, etc. plays out. They upgraded two positions on the Oline that is a start...
