Cleveland Cavs down 0-2

Lots of folks don't realize that the triangle offense that Jackson installed in Chicago was built around Pippen and not Jordan.

Phil knew Jordan was going to do fine regardless of what system they used. However Pippen had some very unique skills (slashing to the basket, he was too tall for the shorter quicker guards and too quick for the taller ponderous big men inside). Thus, Jackson put together the triangle offense to allow Pippen the ultimate pick and roll offense to give him unfettered opportunities to come of screens and either roll to the basket or set up shots. That forced teams to either pay more attention to Pippen driving the lane or to Jordan who could kill them 6 different ways.

Then there was B.J. Armstrong or Steve Kerr on the outside, the 3rd wedge of the triangle. But in truth, it all hinged on Pippen driving and forcing teams to collapse. Things got REALLY interesting though when the peacock showed up and cleaned up the trash off the boards. Rodman couldn't shoot for ****, but he could play defense and he rebounded like his life (and his contract) depended on it. Much of that was because nobody really guarded him so he was often free to get into good position to board, but still the guy was stupid gifted at getting into position and fighting for boards.

There will likely never be another basketball dynasty like the Bulls. It wasn't just Jordan.

Cleveland drew 3 times what the Pens did for their parade, but after 52 years, that should have been expected.

That's right because the people in Pittsburgh are acting like they've been there before.

I'm glad they had a good time, but that parade was poorly organized. It started around 11 or so and they weren't on stage until the late afternoon. Barriers along the parade route would have been a very good idea.

Hey man, Cleveland's gonna party.

Give em some love. Can't hate on a town that's had that kind of drought. I'm no fan of Lebron James, but I'm happy for the fans of Cleveland. I really am.

More out-of-work people, able to attend.
Just one theory, based on insufficient research, but also sprinkled with a healthy dose of Cleveland shame assignment.

I saw a video of a guy at the Cavs parade who literally ate horseshit...

LeBron had his party in Akron today. I would bet it meant more to him than the parade in Cleveland.

After 52 years without a championship, I would expect at least a million people.

I can't blame James for wanting to go play on a dream team like the Heat was at that time. "The Decision" crap was embarrassing though. Aside from that I'm really not sure why everybody hates him so much, but then I don't follow basketball all that much. He seems like he's conducted himself pretty well as a human being since then. And he did come back to Cleveland and give them a championship.

That block in game 7 will go down as one of the all-time great NBA plays ever. It was a thing of beauty.

Watched my first NBA game in 30 years last night. Can't say I was impressed. What I saw was a bunch of guys pulling up, and shooting bricks from the 3 point line. This is what the game has become? No thanks.

Glad to see Cleveland gets a championship. Gotta appreciate a fan base that has hung in there despite the consistent disappointment.

So everyone was shooting 50%+ from deep back in the 80's?? Wow, impressive!

....and not true. Basketball's fine. Maybe watch more than 1, count 'em 1 game in 30 years, to draw some sort of sample

Apparently, LeBron is pledging 87 million dollars for Akron kids who want to go to college.
