The black panther party were fighting for their constitutional rights and some for black nationalism. That's not the same as acting like your rights are being violated as in the case of Bundy/militia types because you want to ripoff the American taxpayer or you feel the government's out of control.
They were not a part of the left, they were communists for the most part. They were fighting a system including the police that was murdering their fellow African Americans sometimes with police approval and sometimes their participation. In that situation someone resorting to violence cannot be condemned. How else are you going to redress your grievances? How else do you get the systems attention when it's the system that's killing you and denying you your rights?
"because government was "either unable or unwilling to protect the lives and property" of African Americans, they ought to defend themselves "by any means necessary." --Malcolm X
When the government starts lynching white kids, or firebombing churches, or the entirely black police force of a large city murders in cold blood only white people protesting then we'll talk about the government being out of control.
Till then it's apples and oranges.
Um... it's 2014 idiot. It's not the Black Panthers of the 70's we're talking about.
So what do you think about those Black Panters that were harrassing voters in Philly?
