College Bowl Thread Non Playoff

I can’t believe these obscure bowl games payoff for the sponsors. Stands are mostly empty, played during weekdays. Where’s the money in it?

Advertising. Like Acrisure stadium. The brand name is mentioned numerous times and they have extended ads during the game. It may seem like nobody is watching but these lesser bowl games still pull rating higher than MLB or NBA games.

They are made for TV and almost all of them have been more entertaining than the first round of the playoffs.
 
Miami and Iowa State is shaping up to be quite the defensive struggle.

ACC is 1-9 in bowls thus far with Syracuse the lone win.

Miami QB Cam Ward sat out the second half after he got his TD record in the 1st half. Play or don;t play. Going in just to get a record then sitting down is pretty weak.

Why draft Shedeur #1? He has nowhere near the talent as Caleb Williams and Williams is showing you can't just run around to extend plays waiting for a guy to get open deep. That's what Shedeur does, with less talent. Plus with Shedeur you will also get his dad publicly calling out coaches if things aren't going well.

How long does Deon stay at Colorado?
 
6-6 USC with tons of backups due to massive portal losses, beat a mighty SEC team Texas A&M who we were told just a few weeks ago could be a playoff team if they beat Texas in the last week. SEC strength of schedule though....

The offenses actually start from the 25 in the first couple of OTs.

Pitt should have gone for it from the 1 instead of kicking the field goal to tie it at 40 at the end of that sequence. No reason at that point to tie it and then have to score a 2-pointer from the 3...while also giving Toledo a chance to be able to tie the game if Pitt converted. Narduzzi f'ed up big-time there.

The announcer was a pain-in-the-@ss, but he was right as rain about that part.

I disagree on him having less talent than Caleb. His accuracy is very impressive
 
Caleb is more talented in every way. Shedur does have accuracy but that’s about it. He has pocket mobility but he’s not that fast. His arm strength is mid.

If shedur was in last year’s draft he’d be a 3rd rounder. This is a weak QB class so he may end up a high pick of a desperate team but he’s not a 1st round talent. Giants should have learned their lesson of forcing a pick with Daniel Jones.

I wouldn’t want to stake my job on any of these QBs in the draft. Cousins will have lots of interest. So will Darnold if the vikes intend to start McCarthy next year. If they choose Darnold then McCarthy will have a market.
 
There have been a bunch of entertaining bowls this year. Many portal transfers but not so many opt outs. Maybe getting paid means playing in bowls.

Games all day Tuesday 12/31 leading up to the playoff game in the Fiesta Bowl Penn State vs Boise

Bama vs Michigan at noon will be interesting. Milroe is playing and he will have a lot riding on this game for his draft stock after an uneven season.

South Carolina vs Illinois is the only matchuo of 2 ranked team (aside from the playoff) There was tons of hype around South Carolina being snubbed from the playoffs.
