College Bowl Thread

Again, not an SEC hater, but should that happen (which looks likely), I'm going to bet the national ratings fall. That, more than anything, will change how the committee views putting two teams from one conference in the playoffs in the same year. Lost revenue/ratings speak volumes.

That already happened a few years ago when they rigged it with an Alabama vs LSU sham championship game. Ratings fell, nobody gives a ****. ESPN fully invested in SEC football and pushes them with every resource. It's the biggest factor in college football.

It would have been a 5 yard penalty. Just in case you don't remember - it was FIRST DOWN. Assuming they would only get a FG is showing your unfettered hate for the SEC...

I have never been a bragadocious fella - but, I can say this, the 2017 Clemson Tigers ARE NOT the same team as the 2016 National Champs...

You been reading the dictionary again Berm?

No fight left in Clemson ... time to hit the sack.

Well Georgia vs Alabama for all of the marbles. And here I thought months ago all of my horses got knocked out of the race. The DL of Alabama looks like it ate the DL of a few teams...good grief.

National Championship - here we come!!! Roll Tide Roll!!!

congrats on tonight's win, Berm!

My personal prediction: No way in hell GA plays like the way they played tonight, 2 weeks in a row; outside of letting OU score often early, they played like their hair was on fire, fiercely and flying around. On top of that, OU's defense has always been lacking in the physicality department, which GA took full advantage of to get back into that game; that won't happen with 'Bama. Once the Georgia players and staff see those crimson helmets with the numbers on the sides, they'll get antsy, weak-knee'd, those butterflies will be fluttering HARD in their bellies, and they'll get smacked around all night by Alabama, making mistakes that Alabama WON'T make, settling for fg's when they need td's, committing penalties that Bama won't commit. Final score: Bama 37, Georgia 14 (garbage time TD, otherwise it'd be 37-7).

oh here we go with the beloved contrived viewpoint of "its all rigged man, ESPN loves the SEC".

It's obvious that these two remaining teams are the best in college football, to think anything else would deem you ridiculous.

Yeah I can't understand why Oklahoma went conservative in OT. Played not to lose, and they did. Great game by both teams though. They both deserved to win.

For those crying about the pick plays, Clemson used them constantly the last 2 years, including the winning play in the NC game last year. I hate it. It helped them beat my Wolfpack twice. Same as the Patriots. They need to penalize it so all teams quit using it.

All 4 playoff teams deserved to be there.

No defense for Georgia or Oklahoma. Oklahoma with the MAJOR choke job to lose that one.

Most teams who give up 54 points lose. The run defense on both sides was pretty much nonexistent. I was calling running td plays out to my wife pretty much before he hit the hole.

Georgia will have to get a lead on Alabama to win and play mistake free.

Uga's backs were untouched.

Deep middle passes worked amazing for Oklahoma

Tape will not speak about college football until April...

I myself am not a fan of the video game football we saw in the Rose Bowl. Can’t argue that it wasn’t an exciting game, but geez Louise how bout somebody play SOME defense. I think Georgia must have averaged about 17 yds. per carry.

Right? Heard a bit of "greatest ever" and that talk is nuts. You're right, it was exciting, but with no defense it came no where close to the greatest ever. Heck, last year's Rose Bowl was much better.

Georgia better have a defense to stand a chance against Bama

Breaking News.....
The Cleveland Browns have selected Baker Mayfield in the Rose Bowl locker room at halftime.

Sent from my iPhone using Steeler Nation mobile app

Mayfield shrunk at the end. They opted to run it, and play it very safe rather than use his talents as a passer.

To be fair OU's defense is terrible, but why not put the ball in the hands of your star QB and let him throw it? # Bad Coaching.

Mayfield will be playing in the senior bowl. What type of player will be in the NFL? I do not think he will bust like Johnny Manziel; instead, I see an Andy Dalton-like of talent or very poor man's Drew Brees. Good enough to start for some teams, but limited.

Mayfield's best fit would be a domed team, a high altitude team ( Like Denver ) or a very warm weathered stadium such as Arizona. Mayfield's arm is just good enough but hardly ideal.

Baker would look good in black and gold. He wasn't used properly at OU.

if Bama does short quick passes, game will be done before the 2nd quarter.
