College Football Championship Week

I don't feel bad for ND. They should just join a conference. I'm sure they are not hurting for money and there is lots to go around.

It's 50 million a season from NBC and Peacock for just football. What is the ACC TV contract pay each school for just football?

So here is where it all falls off the rails. The spokesman for the selection committee said that ND became head to head with Miami and Miami won the head to head. But they became head to head because BYU got boot stomped in a championship game. So in that case getting your dick knocked off in a championship game had implications. However, in the case of Alabama it did not. Case closed.

The ACC distributes TV money with a new formula: 40% split equally, and 60% based on a 5-year rolling average of football (75%) and men's basketball (25%) TV viewership, rewarding successful programs like Clemson/FSU. $45 million for the 2023-24, but I believe top-rated schools in football/basketball viewership can earn significantly more. Notre Dame would fall into that category.

Again is that all sports put together as in the ACC network and basketball gets this piece, wrestling gets this or is that just football? Cause NBC is just football.

As I understand 75 % football 25% basketball for that $45 million but the SSI adds more to those totals, especially to successful high performers

Notre Dame got $17 million from the ACC media deal based on what I was able to find. I don't think the numbers are straightforward. If Notre Dame had already joined the ACC, the conference would've got a better media deal, and with the tiered system they put in place, they'd probably be getting near the same or more. On top of that, they'd have access to a bye week.

Now it looks like Notre Dame has a sweet deal in place for playoff access next year so it may not matter so much.
 
ND's 26 schedule. Pencil them in the playoffs already. Ridiculous that they get a special guarantee.

Sorry, but I’m still a little salty about this whole ordeal. The main reason is I truly thought this was the best Notre Dame football team that they fielded in a long long time, and I truly felt that they had a chance to win it all.
The last half of the season if you’re a college football fan and watch a lot of college football like I do, it was pretty evident that Notre Dame arguably was the best team in the nation and could beat anybody.
Now, with that all being said, I also truly feel that them declining a bowl game is not the right thing to do. Even if the seniors voted and didn’t want to attend the bowl game, I’m sure they could’ve filled it a very competitive team with the younger players on the squad in a bowl game.
And I blame coach Freeman for this decision ultimately. As the leader of young men, this would’ve been a great exercise and what lies ahead for these young men in their lives…things don’t always go the way you want them to go, but you still gotta put your big boy pants on and go to work.

He might return for another season just to build on it. Which would leave the Steelers with really only two options that probably they won’t be aggressive enough to acquire. Mendoza will probably go one or two. Moore within the top ten.

With AR more than likely to retire and MT more than likely to return, next season will not be pretty. Even more so than the last two seasons and that is saying something.

Didn't ND stay out of the ACC for football because of that giant TV contract?

It seems like years ago they traded access for cash, and that decision caught up with them this year.

That said, Bama should not have made it, and JMU and Tulane can't both be better than ND in any objective view, can they?

And, hey, isn't there an up and coming young coach now with extra free time to interview with Pro teams looking to the future?

I feel for you, Sask and Troymania ........... the system is flawed and there will always be controversy with the committee
I get the feeling behind ND declining a Bowl game but I would rather see them play and kick the **** out of a worthy opponent just to put more pressure on the committee that left them out.. and to give the younger kids on the roster a chance to perform

I lived in the country as a kid so TV reception was limited ...... but I watched College ball alot since it was a feeder to the CFL with the likes of guys like Tommy Clements, JC Watts, Warren Moon, Dieter Brock, etc. loved DEF and teams that rushed alot .......so I watched Notre Dame, Ohio State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Alabama and several SEC teams.
Liked Paul BEAR Bryant so ultimately became a BAMA fan first and foremost

College ball today is so driven by $$$$$$$ that there are no allegiances to a 4 year education and to just one Institution ........

I like seeing things like the Indiana story and the Texas Tech Raiders recently ....... I just love seeing a competitive game with twists and turns....

Notre Dame won't be part of it this year ........but they will be back in the future ...

I feel bad for the viewers — should be the best 12 teams, the auto-bids are stupid. The 5/12 and 6/11 games are 21.5 and 17.5 spreads.

Would you rather watch JMU vs. Oregon or ND vs. Oregon?

Agreed, start the playoffs in early December, championship should always be on New Year’s Day.
