College Football Week 11 Battle of Unbeatens

As disappointed as I am in Penn State loss, the future is bright. but the 2019 season is not a loss, they still control everything in front of them. if they can beat Indiana, (and by some miracle)Ohio State, and Rutgers. they are in the Big Ten Championship game. most likely Minnesota in a rematch. if they win that game and the Big Ten Championship. I find it hard to believe they are not in the playoffs.

Penn St. is not beating OSU with that secondary. OSU will put up 45+ on that defense.

Vader, never said they would. and they probably will get blown out. but that is why I love sports, nothing is a given. you still have to show up and play the games.

They would have a better chance at home but playing at OSU isn't easy. I actually hope they do win but I just can't see it. Minnesota won't beat them either.

Should have been DPI on the INT. Not sure if Clifford was going for Hamler or Dobson on the play but that pass was atrocious either way. If they call the penalty it doesn’t matter though. Terrible non call.

The lesson to take away is that turning the ball over is bad, but it’s worse when you play a good team.

It also doesn’t help when the play calling cripples your team for half the game.

After watching the replay a few times now, it’s clear he was going to Hamler. Piss poor execution. Should have been PI anyway.

They didn’t earn a win anyway. Just not good enough yet. Maybe never under Franklin.

Have to give it up to Minn for playing such a sharp game. Still not sure how good Minnesota is because Penn State played like **** for about 40 minutes but they aren't a fluke. They have a huge OL and a bunch of tall and physical WRs that can actually catch the ball.

Even while playing like **** for about 40 minutes, PSU still should have won that game. So many mistakes. So many missed plays. I have said week after week that they need another WR besides Hamler to step up. That's what bit them today. Shorter is a 5 star recruit who may have been the top WR in the country when he came out. He had multiple opportunities today and came failed time and again.

That first INT was all on him. Was it a great throw? No. But it was a jump ball to a 6'5 WR against about a 5'10 DB. That should be a win for the WR 9 times out of 10 and that 10th time shoud be incomplete, not picked off because the big WR just lets the small DB make a free play on the ball.

Then you have Dotson just tripping on the 10 yard line instead of scoring the winning TD.

Disappointing but this may not even change Penn State's season. I always figured them to lose to Ohio State which meant their best season was likely the Rose Bowl and that is still very much in Penn State's grasp if Ohio State goes to the playoffs.

It will be interesting how far Penn State falls. Georgia didn't take too big of a hit for losing at home to unranked South Carolina, who is now 4-6 and lost to Appalachian State today. I have a feeling Penn State will not get such a soft landing but we'll see.

South Carolina also lost to Tennessee. Just goes to show you that anyone can beat anyone, and maybe teams shouldn’t be dropped 10 places for one loss. Georgia is a good team. Sometimes you just get beat. I think when all is said and done, it will be in no particular order.....OSU, LSU, Alabama and Clemson.

Penn State fans are all bummed out about falling out of the CFP, but they never should have been there in the first place. I put them at somewhere between 7-10, even if they win at Minnesota. Penn State’s future should be very bright, but it seems they always lose a big game or two under Franklin. Paterno mostly won those games. Hope they can recruit some linemen and WR’s. They have a good enough defense.

They have been recruiting OL like crazy for the last few year. The thing is, OL seems to have the highest bust rate for top recruits. So many of these top OL recruits just dominate in high school because they are 6'5 300 and going against kids that are maybe 6'1 250. It's hard to project.

Penn State would have a top OL right now if you could just go by the star ratings of recruits.

Even with good recruits, it takes years for most to develop physically. It's not plug and play like most other positions.

The sanctions gutted the OL. And O'Brien really didn't recruit any. Guys like Saquon and Allen Robinson and Godwin masked the deficiency. This year is the first year since sanctions that they have an above par starting unit with some good depth guys behind them.

The key to teams like Wisconsin and Iowa who always seem to have a great OL is because they have guys developing for years before they start. They end up with an OL of mostly JR and SR most years. Penn State has had to play guys early. They are doing that at most positions.

The next level is when you don't have to play underclassmen unless they are special. Penn State is about a year or 2 away from that level when you have both talent and experience.
