College Football Week 7

Shiiieee. Tennessee is looking tough. I think UGA’s season hinges on that game

Great defensive game in Tenn vs Alabama.

Shocked that knuckleball fieldgoal went in.

Yeah I was thinking that. I didn't have Tenn penciled in as any threat. That is no longer the case.

gonna be interesting to see the new rankings.

And will have concussion issues in the nfl. Tua’s getting abused at the pro level. Bryce needs to put on weight or he’s gonna get rocked in the nfl.
**** all the referees in the game today. Period the end. Bryce should have got OBVIOUS roughing the passer calls that were BLANTANTLY overlooked .

**** EVERYONER THINKING TENNESSEE WON THIS GAME. ******* ********...

They gave up 52 points, not that the vols did any better giving up 49.

Both teams within 2 yards of each other in total offense. 1136 offensive yards combined between the two teams. That's just ridiculous.

College football is all about offense and the better QB generally wins the game. Today was no exception.

It looks like arena ball in some of these games. There's nothing impressive about throwing for a billion cheap yards to guys ridiculously wide open.

Penn State giving up 418 yards rushing was another one that stuck out to me as just pathetic. They let 2 running backs bust 160+ yards and 2td's each on them.

Another embarrassing PSU loss, brought to you by Mike Tomlin Jr.
Well, Franklin gets good players to come to Penn State and even has decent coordinators but other than that you're spot on. I can't remember the last time Penn Status beat a team that was ranked higher. Paterno's later years weren't good but give him a couple weeks to prepare and he would have the team ready to play at a high level. O'Brien was probably the best coach since Paterno - is he still around? Not that it matters. Franklin is probably locked in as well as Tomlin as far as job security.

I am pissed about that Penn State loss. Not that they lost. They were 7 point dogs. I knew it would be tough but they have the talent to play with Michigan. They did it last year with less talent. They almost beat Michigan last year until 2 PSU defenders ran into each other and the MIch TE lumbered for a long TD.

Penn State is light on the DL. They stop the run with penetration and LBs and DBs filling the gaps. DC Manny Diaz has been VERY aggressive. Bringing all kinds of blitzes and taking advantage of the coverage CBs they have. I felt it was all building up to this matchup vs Michigan where they would crowd the box, bring extra guys to make it hard to run and force the inexperienced McCarthy to make plays.

They did none of that. This was the most passive game they played all year and i have no idea why. Maryland and Indiana hung with Michigan by crowding the box. Penn State played almost scared of giving up big pass plays. I don't get it at all.

The DL actually played pretty well. DE Chop Robinson had a great game. But again, their job is to penetrate and the second line was never there. Missed tackles and bad angles. When Safety Ja'Ir Brown got hurt, the wheels came off on allowing big plays.

Offensively, I have no idea what they were trying to do. Apparently PSU's staring G was injured in warmups and didn't play. That didn't help things but still the gameplan should not have been to try to run at Michigan which is what it looked like they wanted to do. Run at Michigan and then when you do pass, call a bunch of slow developing drag routes.

Franklin is now 3-7 after a bye. He spent most of the last 2 weeks on the road recruiting. It showed in the gameplan, if you could call it that.

Michigan is not a mystery. They didn't break out some secret playbook that they've been hiding. They did what they do and Penn State seemed surprised by it.

Clifford actually played pretty well. He made some tough throws. It's just that he was running for his life and many of the throws were tough. They went for it on a 4th down and the play was a corner route to Washington. That's a low % throw. WTF?

I have to wonder if Franklin handcuffed his OC and DC this week. I can't get over how conservative they tried to play this. They lived in their fears.

Oh well, at least i have the Steelers to look forward to. Oh ****!

O'Brien is OC for Alabama. I'm guessing he is just waiting for the right head coaching gig. If he stays put, he could get the Bama job if Saban retires. I have a feeling he'd rather go back to the NFL because he wasn't big with recruiting. But now with NIL, the boosters and NIL money does the recruiting so maybe he would be interested in a college head job.

Let's say Steelers have a top 5 pick and Bryce Young or Hendon Hooker is on the board. Also consider that Omar did not draft Kenny and by the end of this year Tomlin's seat might be warm for the first time and they may have a new OC. Could they do like Arizona and draft a new QB after 1 year of they feel it's a step up?

No chance we draft a QB, even if we have the top pick. Even if Kenny is a bust, no way Tomlin would ever admit it was a bad draft pick. C'mon Bush has been getting a hat for two years and we all know he is a total bust by now.

Ah, but consider that he could blame it on Colbert.
