Everyone always argues about states rights, but some states (and they know who they are) need to get off
their ***** and start contributing to this country and not leaving it to the Northeast and West Coast to finance the
country alone.

Do you ever even think before you post ****?

Bwahahahaha I'm glad someone else saw this to be as funny as I did.

I do agree. Make different tracks for kids. Smart kids continue through school/higher ed. Dumb kids get taught a life trade. If only the rest of society obliged. Liberals will push and push for an equality which doesnt work out cause then you have unqualified people being forced through something they have no clue or even worse. Because these people were forced to accept a lifestyle thats either put them in debt or wasnt their thing, they would rather sit at home mooching off the gov. Fock I love you guys. This board is one of the few places that get it

The Neo-Socialists have largely already destroyed votech courses in most school systems. It is sad how many kids out of high school can't read a ruler and have no idea how to use most hand tools.

One of the higher level SpEd classes where I used to work is shop. Only taught by a SpEd teacher. Last year, the shop class built trellises, fences, and borders for a community garden. It was so successful that they have been asked to do more projects in the community. The kids felt accomplished, and one student (who happened to be one of mine as well) said that he wants to do something like that when he graduates.

A lot of kids here can read, write or understand tools. But once given to them in a real situation, they go dumb and are afraid to make a move. I have a brother in high school. Smart kid when it comes to books and seeing stuff presented to him on paper. But when it comes to applying some of those measurements to real life---he's a clueless focking wanker. Just last month I went to help my dad ground in some fence post. Took the time to measure, buy some concrete to weigh down the post, all that. We give my brother a shovel. He didnt know what to do with it. Thats where education is messing up these kids these days

Yikes.....a shovel should be pretty easy to figure out.

I'd like to see a poll on how many kids between 18 and 30 have never had a blister, let alone a callous. Unless it's from some new shoes.

My grandson grew up from middle school till after HS helping me run a nursery. From laying pipe, managing inventory, talking to customers and making money any way we could. He translated that schoolin' to a career in civil engineering. I hate it that he sits behind a terminal and plans future road projects when I spent so much time with him on 'hands on skills' but at least I know he won't do something stupid.

He learned to make do and make it right, even if the project was lacking substance from the get go, he could make it work. All is not lost, It's just that some of the material is scarce and we need to concentrate more on common sense. That and the fact that we need more fixers, in all fields.... people that can fix ****, not college graduates that need a hole to crawl into...
