Connor Heyward welcome aboard! Steelers 6 Rd 208

Picking and choosing when and who to lead really isn't leading is it? If you are a TEAM leader.
AB didn't listen to ******* anyone. How many teams did he go to? I guess they all weren't hands on leaders. Even the Bucs WR tried to calm him down and he blew him off.

AB should have been put in his place by the higher ups they allowed that **** to fester.

Not sure there is a player in the NFL that could keep him in line.

I am not stating Cam is this great team leader for calling out Jarvis Jones at practice or whatever he said it was when we had star players doing crazy **** on and off the field. One thing I know is when people in positions of leadership selectively pick and choose who to discipline it isn't a good thing. One might even say that it isn't good leadership.
No, you're saying that Cam should have done "more". It's that part that I find ambiguous and wish to know more about. Like, what do you think Cam should have done, and do you do the same at your place of employment? Also, you stated above that players were acting up "on and off" the field. Are you advocating that Cam should monitor what folks do at their own homes? With their own free time? Do you do this? Are the Steelers going to pay Cam to babysit these guys while they aren't at work?

There is another son of Ironhead?

Yes. If he is the team leader some are saying he is I think he should have done more. If he is the leader I believe him to be then.....no Picking out Jarvis in practice and letting AB throw a tantrum during a game. HMMM. LOL...Yeah monitor players on and off the field. That is humorous. I was simply stating there were players doing far far worse than what he stated Jarvis was doing. Again. I am not in a leadership role to assume leadership. I have people in these roles that pick and choose who to discipline to people doing the same things. I call that bad leadership. Babysit pay? Sure if the Steelers want to I guess. I am not saying he should really babysit anyone actually though. I am just saying he isn't some great team leader as others are saying he is.

And you still haven't said what you think he should have done "more". Nor whether it's something you do at your job. All I'm seeing is"
"He's not a leader". "He should have done more than pick on Uncle Jarvis". "He's not a leader." blah, blah, blah
Just noise and more noise without any suggestions as to what should have or could have been done. So, at the end of the day, I'm left with the feeling that you just don't really have any concrete answers, just gripes and *******.

He should have done more than he did. If Jarvis sat(or whatever he did)in practice and Heyward flipped out on him.....how about when AB was throwing a tantrum during a game "they are going to win" because he didn't get "his" Heyward should have at a minimum done the same to him.

Heyward, the Defensive Captain. Not Ben, the Offensive Captain?
OK, at least you gave me an answer.

I think Ben would "lead" on the field also. And here is the thing why. For both Ben and Cam. The HC allowed these star players to do as they pleased. I know you are a Tomlin guy but a cancer was let go in our locker room and it spread. Hopefully it has been fully extracted now after last season.

You'd be surprised.
Yeah, I'll stick up for Tomlin when folks make what I believe are outrageous claims/statements/arguments against him. But, I've been known to call him out on his bullshit too. At present, my opinion hasn't changed from last year. And that is that it's possible for an HC to stay in one place so long that his message gets stale, the attention to detail falters, and the team is worse off for it. I believe that Tomlin has reached that point. It happened to Reid in Philly. Look what a change of scenery did for him AND for the Eagles.

I guess I opened a can of worms. All I was talking about was Cam's brother. Not AB and Bell and other idiots
Cam is an awesome player for the team and I look forward to seeing Conner being a Steeler. I feel like Cam would keep his *** in line if he gets stupid.

Yep. Just like he has kept everyone else's *** in line over the years here.

Cam chewed Jarvis's *** on more than one occasion. I think he can keep lil bro in line.

@stillwright, all I was talking about was Conner and Cam. Not the likes of AB or Bell or whoever. Like slashsteel said, I think he can keep lil bro in line. That's all. The whole team isn't Cam's responsibility, nor should it be. If Conner gets stupid, or doesn't work hard like Cam, I feel Cam will address it immediately and get results.

His lil Bro shouldn't be his responsibility either.

Why are people over valuing a 6th and 7th round picks? I have no problem with him in the 6th. Special teams is still a vital part of the team and the kid can there and can line up in the backfield and has great hands and isn’t afraid to catch anything in the middle of the field. Tape doesn’t lie so I encourage anyone that says he was just drafted because he’s a Heyward go back and look at his tape.

But he gets em all every year… I usually get none and like it lol
That's why you aren't special like our cooch.

He is really really special.

Any team of the 70's had several players as individuals that would have crimped his style so to speak.

I get he is current but I think Jerome bettis may of had a chance as well.

The mistake that was made was that is wasn't shut down at the start and allowed to continually grow. When he told the defense to back off because he was the team franchise guy, the DC should have said wide open boys and lit him up. Coach Tomlin should have gotten in his face instead of saying as long as he is producing we will give him a pass. Polomalo was even discouraged on how the patient was running the assylum so to speak.

Obviously the way he was handled didn't work and we do have hindsight to critic with.

Salute the nation

I wouldn't say it's overvaluing the picks as these guys rarely make it. It's more of where do I value depth on the team? Would I rather build depth along the offensive line, edge, and defensive backfield over QB, LB, and whatever Heyward is going to play? Absolutely. Quality depth over the course of the season can help you win games. Having a No. 3 tight end who's going to make one special teams tackle a week doesn't do much for me.

Especially when you would like to see a NT brought into the mix. Or some RT competition...
