Covid Vaccine

He's not a neuroscientist - a microbiologist - but you knew that I'm sure, because you seem to know everything.

I just googled him, this is what it said. I looked briefly at what he's doing and it seems to involve a lot of neuroscience stuff, mostly related to sleep. That is the extent of what I know about him. But either way still interested in hearing his reasoning.

You literally said I've never worked in the field so I should STFU.

When you spout nonsense, yeah, STFU.

And you keep saying, show me where they're hesitant about vaccines:

That is weird. I'm not a PhD (far from it), but I worked with a lot of Microbiology PhDs at Caltech for several years and have the good fortune of being in contact with a couple of them still, and they're not on board with mRNA. The consensus seems to be that even traditional vaccines aren't going to protect much against mutations (like what happens with all viruses), but they're not against them. Seems they think humoral immunity of the B cells and traditional autoimmunity of the T cells are the best bet at this stage.

I Agree that the vaccines do have a positive impact on the data, but you have to understand that the potential side effects are so unknown on this that its extremely difficult to simply isolate short term advantages and ignore the risks for many people.

Yes even cutting put the 30~40% that have natural immunity from the numbers the vaccines as a whole absolutely have a better record to date than unvaccinated, but there are enough very smart and educated doctors raising serious concerns That aren’t going to be proven or disproven for years that its fine for people to hold off

If the vaccine was one that utterly eradicate s the spread then maybe people have a case for pushing it on people, but it doesn’t stop the spread… it potentially could make things worse down the road…

there is absolutely no harm in moving away from the first gen vaccines and marketing the second gens that the majority of the vaccine hesitant will accept and that might actually be more effective short and long term…

I definitely have no issue with learning what the weaknesses of the current vaccines are and improving on them. Not at all. Has happened numerous times throughout history.

You googled him, huh? I worked for him and helped start his first lab FFS. He's not a ******* neuroscientist.

Well, he is doing research in neuroscience apparently. or maybe needs someone to update his social media profiles. Neuroscience of course is intertwined with biology in a lot of ways. But you know that, being the expert that you are.

Research Summary
Genetic and Neural Circuits that Regulate Sleep
Profile
People can reject food, abstain from sex and control their thirst, but cannot keep from falling asleep. What is the genetic and neural basis of this most insistent bodily need? Why is it essential in nearly all multicellular animals, and how is it regulated?

Answers to these questions remain elusive despite years of study, and we are taking a new approach using zebrafish. Zebrafish are amenable to high-throughput genetic and small molecule screens that are powerful approaches to identify genetic pathways that regulate sleep. The optical transparency of zebrafish larvae make them an ideal system to monitor and manipulate neural circuits that regulate sleep, and zebrafish and mammalian brains are structurally similar. Zebrafish are therefore uniquely well suited to unravel the mysteries of sleep.

We are interested in two general questions: What are the genetic circuits that regulate sleep, and what are the neural circuits that regulate sleep?

Genetic Regulation of Sleep

To test whether similar genetic pathways regulate zebrafish and mammalian sleep, we are studying Hypocretin/Orexin, whose loss causes the mammalian sleep disorder narcolepsy. We found that overexpression of zebrafish Hypocretin impairs the initiation and maintenance of sleep, consolidates wakefulness and induces a state of hyperarousal, as it does in mammals. We are now performing screens to identify novel genes and small molecules that regulate sleep, and are characterizing several candidate sleep regulators.

Neural Regulation of Sleep

Hypocretin is expressed in ~20 hypothalamic neurons in zebrafish larvae compared to 3,000 neurons in mice and 70,000 neurons in humans, making it much simpler to characterize the zebrafish Hypocretin circuit in detail. We found that zebrafish Hypocretin neurons project to wake-promoting centers of the brain and are active during periods of consolidated wakefulness, as in mammals.

Hypocretin neurons labeled with Green Fluorescent Protein in a live zebrafish larva
We are now taking advantage of the optical transparency of zebrafish larvae, the relative simplicity of zebrafish neural circuits and recently developed optical tools to study the development and function of Hypocretin neurons, as well as other hypothalamic neural circuits that may regulate sleep. We are characterizing these neural circuits down to the level of individual neurons, testing the effects of activating and inhibiting specific neurons on behavior, and monitoring the activity of genetically defined neurons in freely behaving zebrafish larvae.

SOURCE? Who is saying the vaccine is more dangerous and causes more deaths than Covid? Wouldn’t that be a widely reported controversy? You and Tim are creating your own reality.
You really can't ******* read can you? JFC it is like talking to brick wall except the brick wall has better reading comprehension. You ignore all sources posted you don't like. How many deaths has Covid caused in those under 18 in the US? How many VAERS reports have there been of deaths? One more time if only a fraction of them are actually from the Vaccine it would put it close to or worse than Covid FOR THOSE UNDER 18. AND ONE MORE TIME I take those reports with a grain of salt. Regardless Covid is not any significant risk for children particularly when compared to other dangers children face.

You just look to find something/anything you can pounce on, and fight. You're a predator, not a beta cuck boy/girl.

While research grants are heavily federally funded (hence my response why they say 'vague' things), they are also funded privately. You keep on with your pharm executives and I'll keep on with my Caltech connections, and we'll see where we are in a year or two?

Deal?

LOL. Did you have a fight with your wife tonight or something? Pharma research is funded privately too. So which is it you hate more? Privately funded research or federally funded research? Anyway if your Caltech connections have some secret information that these vaccines are not safe or effective, by all means please encourage them to share it with the rest of us. They are apparently much more brilliant and virtuous than everyone else but for some unknown reason have decided to keep this info to themselves.

JFC, you're getting creepy. I worked tirelessly for this guy for several years but because you did a google search, I need to understand?

Neuroscience deals with the nervous pathology systems of the brain, and he's got his PhD in another field. I already said that and claimed all of it, so go to ******* sleep already.

You're making an *** out of yourself. That's good, because you seem to beg for being virtuous & sanctimonious - and void of being factual.

Wow, are you suggesting they won't come forward about legitimate safety and efficacy concerns because they are worried about losing their federal funding? Huh. I would think saving lives and preventing vaccine harm would come first but what do I know. I don't work in the industry.

You keep on about your ******* vaccines - and I'll support some while questioning others - and again, let's see where we are in 2 years?

-- Are you ready to take that crazy leap, with vaccines as incredible as they currently are?

You're being a troll at this point. You're on the level of Flog.

If the scientists I worked for come out with anything, I'll be happy to show it to you.

What crazy leap? That they might not be as effective against all variants? Already said that (so has the science). That immunity might wane over time? Already said that (so has the science.)

Are they the best weapon we have right now? Hell yeah. Will we might one day have something better? I sure hope so.

Is there any real evidence that they're causing anything but very rare harm? Nope.

Happy to check back with you in two years on all of that.

Study just came out today that there is no increased risk of miscarriage from vaccines in pregnant women. Meanwhile with covid there's an increased risk of premature birth and severe illness in pregnant women.

But by all means keep trying to scare people away from these vaccines.

Wow. Can't have a legitimate disagreement without resorting to sexist name calling. I always thought better of you than that, I see you now.

Yeah, you can't remember calling me an *******, huh? Go **** yourself actually.

Sexist! Lol. You do you.

I always thought better of you than that, I see you now.

See me however you want. You'll always see a problem if I don't agree with you, and you're a sanctimonious know-it-all ***** BTW. Sorry I don't see you better.

I never called you an *******. I said you were being an ***. I don't find that to be on the same level as calling a woman a *****, but others may disagree. That's ok.

Okey dokey. A couple of days ago you were complimenting me on the intelligence of the conversations we were having even when we disagreed. But I guess I struck a nerve. Whatever. You're a stranger on the internet so no skin off my nose.

When you act like a practical person, I'll treat you like a practical person - no matter your gender - but you started with the ******* comments - and I finished them with the ***** comments.

If you'd like to talk again without being an *******, I'll promise to do the same. I hope we can because I enjoy our banter. And it's a message board.

Peace out OFTB, sleep well and hope all is well with you & your family.

Once again, never once called you an *******. I was annoyed that you twisted my words about the conversations I relayed with my friend, but my "you're being an ***" comment was intended in a semi-lighthearted vein. If it didn't come across that way I apologize.

Don't apologize. But you did call me an *** "You're really being an *** here.".

***, ******* - maybe I'm being a cuck boy. But anyways, don't ever apologize, you're a gd monster compared to these soy boy *******. And I wouldn't have it any other way, but we're bound to disagree. Whatever. You're one persistent, stubborn *** beast.
