Very good read from the Home Page

List(s) three starters to possibly cut and cap savings

1) Okorafor ——————— save 9 mil
2) Robinson II ——————save 10 mil
3) Pat Pet————————7 mil

In my opinion, I fully agree on these cuts. Their play can be replaced at a cheaper version. With as much cap space these guys would receive us of, we could sign much better prospects & Younger.

NO mention of Cam Heyward, I love CAM but also realize he is getting old & way over priced.

Either Cam comes in and does a major rewrite of said contract or we designate him early so he has a chance to find a team. One more option would be to explore a trade, with CAM‘s satisfaction of who—— strongly considered. We need draft capital.

One last thing, Believe it or not, I’m not at every practice or team meeting(s), so I haven’t the inside view of the Pickens or DJ workings at practices ect…..
Outside looking in, I definitely explore trades and high capital gained. Neither, even the rookie deal, are NOT earning their paychecks BUT are also major contributors to locker room stinky compost materials.

NICE Home-page article and many more there as well.

We need to cut more than just players.

Thanks captain obvious, but this was about players, read the article and expand.

We all know about the coaching situation, but NOT all threads have to be about coaching.

I'm ALL for ALL three of those guys not coming back.
However, not Cam.
I know that's your 2 cents and not the article, but Cam needs to be a Steeler lifer.
On and off the field he's been a model Steeler.
I understand he's old, but he's earned the right to retire black n gold.

I would ask Peterson to take a paycut. And stay here as a cb or safety.

Chuck gone

Robinson if will to restructure cool stay. If not cut.
I think Peterson and Robinson are good locker room guys.

Agree fedderone, BUT Cam needs to be restructured and can stay at a lower cost. Not vet minimum, but a more cap friendly deal. These are desperate times, thus I bring him into the equation.

No simple answer as for his stay or go. He has earned the right, but father time says here I am. Short contract 2 years.

Yeah, but we're really not the drunken sailor spenders in free agency.
We like paying our own homegrowns and just sign depth and build through the draft.
But whether we draft, sign in FA, trade, etc. ALL the talent we accumulate will be wasted with the stewards of this dumpster fire.
The savings we need is saving the players from ineptitude of coaching and training and development and scheming.
Khan can stay.
EVERYONE else needs to go organizationally.

While I agree with the article (well done), I would add the following without too much hesitation.

1. Cole Holcomb - He is not coming back healthy after that injury (save 4+-6mil depending on when he is cut)
2. Keanu Neal - Not the answer at SS and we need Minkah back at FS (save 2+mil)
3. Damontae Kazee - Like the player but his NFL history suggests he is a target of punishments (save 3 mil)
4. Larry Ogunjobi - Not what we bargained for (save 9+mil post June cut)

We need to know our scheme before we start ditching/signing players, IMO.

Pretty good list, I like Holcomb but his injury history is something that cannot be ignored. Same with Ogunjobi, he came into camp finally healthy (according to him) and the next thing you know he has another foot injury. Not much was made out of it but I'm curious as to how long it's lingered. He definitely hasn't produced as expected.

Heyward needs restructured as has been mentioned, I think he still has a groin issue but at his age we should expect more of the same next year. Leal is another guy who was drafted with no real position in the defense we use, head scratcher. Our defensive line is a mess. No internal pressure even with all the attention on our outside lbs. Just terrible.

That's all well and good but at what cost? He's near the end of his career, he should not be paid like an elite player in his prime. He's due to have a cap hit of $22 mill, this year AND next. No way is it prudent to pay him $22 mill for what we get back, all things considered. That's just foolish spending and not even trying to have the best team you can field. He's a part-time player at this point. Not worth $22 mill. No way, no how.

Yes, agreed. Leal is another reach at DL. No idea what they were thinking with him. Cam is at the end of the road. Shouldn't be paid like an elite player in his prime. I think Bolton is a keeper, need to draft another DLman pretty high in 2024. Shades has NEVER shown an understanding of what a 3-4 DL is supposed to do, he just doesn't get it (as seen by our ignorance of a legit NT on the team since Hampton has retired).
