Cuts

Kozora has Dylan Cook as the surprise 4th OT in his prediction. I could see that. He was solid in all the preseason games I saw and apparently in practice steadily got better each week. He's young with a lot of athleticism and upside. Sticking him as the 4th tackle is relatively a low risk high reward spot. Here's some numbers on him.

40-yard= 5.08 (82nd percentile)
6-6 3/8= 74th percentile
308lbs= 31st percentile
33 1/2" arm length 27th percentile
81 5/8" wingspan 50th percentile

So a decent athlete to say the least. And I personally believe you have to keep 4 tackles. Too many injuries to not. Just like with the NFL bringing back the emergency QB rule you have to keep 3 QB's in the concussion protocol era.

I think they saw some physical mobility traits that reminded them of Pounce, but he was very high pedegree and refined as a rookie. In fact if he wasn't hurt I give them a 10 percent better chance of having Rogers being a SB goose egg.

This exactly. I'm not making excuses for Green. He is too small to play guard and not good enough at centre. That is on him. However, being a third round pick moved to centre and starting game one did not help.

Now you guys have got me saying "now wait a minute". If he is too small to play guard and not good enough at center, it could only mean he is not good enough to play in the NFL.
The fact that he was "thrown to the wolves too early " is inconsequential. He will never be ready to be thrown to the wolves.

By stating he was thrown into the fire too early implies giving him more time.
I say cut him, he's not NFL material!

I agree. He must he cut. And it's not an excuse. It just didn't help. If Jones goes in week one and gets beaten like a rented mule by Bosa and Garrett on consecutive weeks it's not going to help his career.

I can understand Tomlin protecting his 3rd round pick to a point, but it's year 3 and there is no indication Green will ever be any better than he is now.
Did he make any effort to add weight and muscle in the off season?
Guess we'll know in 5-6 days.

Green is like Bush. Undersized but supposedly agile enough to get job done. But there are so many pieces to the puzzle and if you are small and late to the party you are useless. But I get. Third and up is definitely an investment that you aren't giving up on easily.

What does everyone think about the DL? I think Fehoko is a must-keep. He is the best and only true NT we have. He may not get sacks but he does get push in the passing game. He is a beast run stuffer and commands double teams. We haven't had anyone who can command double teams in the middle in what seems like forever. He is a Weidl type of guy but I think Tomlin is OK with a mediocre run stuffer who can a little more rushing the passer. They have enough of those guys. We need a big man in the middle. What say yins?
I believe at this point there are three absolute locks to make it.. Heyward, Ogunjobi, and Benton. I think 7 ultimately make it. I’m almost positive that Leal and Loudermilk will be two of those three. Then you have Adams, Watts and Fehoko vying for two spots.

Adams gives some cap savings but provides the most experience in the system
Fehoko is cheap and tge only true NT, but is one dimensional and hasn’t been good in the preseason games
Watts is a good flexible cheap option…

Nobody wants a Green Bush. Sh!t sounds nasty

Green will be cut. He serves no purpose and would only rob a roster spot of another player more deserving. If he’s kept them as I’ve mentioned before it’s because of Tomlin’s stubbornness and unwillingness to admit he screwed up drafting this guy and making him Ben’s center. Ben still seems pissed about that move.

A-N-D

BEN should be pissed and rightfully so……….

They paraded out one of the worse OLs in STEELERS history and that’s saying something.

The coaching staff did absolutely ZERO in regards to the HOF QB’s last season. Even the ****-ing OC wouldn’t let him audible till game 5 (how ****- ed is that).

It was a failed season before it even began, YET BEN pulled it out to make it a non-losing season…you know, for coach Tomlin.

Yeah. The whole idea that they could draft a guard who is small, and make him a center was dumb. There were dozens of centers out there still. Not great ones, but centers none-the-less. I still shake my head at that pick. I feel bad for the dude. He is small, so that is an issue, and he was asked to do something he rarely did. I bet he tries hard. It's just not his game. Let's make him a punt returner, maybe?

Stupid.

I think they need to paint the end-zones Black and Gold. Have green lay down during kick offs so as to blend in and camouflage. Once kickoff is in the air he can rise and catch and run it back for TDs, should work every time………!!!!

Sounds like it might need some antibiotics.

I was going to suggest Penicillin, or the “Z” pack at minimum……………………….

Cody White and Hakeem Butler. Signed Aron Cruickshank. Butler started off hot but quickly fizzled out. Too bad. A guy that big and fast would have been a nice red zone threat.

The camp turk is going to be busy cutting Green who the Steelers stupidly selected with better players on the board in round three, and Dotson who was a 4th round pick and has been over rated since day #1 as a Steeler.

Out fat punter might join them, but he was only a 7th round pick.

still not watching the games

I don't see Dotson and Green getting cut. Maybe, but I feel like one stick. My guess it is Dotson. Green has got lots of playing time this preseason and I think they were hoping he could show enough versatility to earn a spot as he could potentially play guard, center, and full back. But sadly he has not played well at any of those positions. FB is probably his best. Dotson I feel stays and Anderson gets a practice squad spot. That is just my gut feeling.

Dotson has been more than a decent return for a 4th rounder. I don't know what are you expecting when the NFL average of 4th rounders even surviving their whole rookie contract is small, even smaller those that are spot starter capable, which I think Dotson is

I didn’t like either pick. I had Green higher than most as a 5th round prospect and I had Dotson as an priority free agent. Dotson is a serviceable spot starter and quality backup. Green just doesn’t have the mental acumen to play in the NFL. His short arms kill him when he’s a fraction of a second behind what the defensive linemen does. It is what it is. If he invested his money wisely he should have over a million in the bank. Throw that in an investment account and that’s probably $80,000 a year in interest. Get a job making $80,000 a year and you are living very comfortably.

All I know is that Moore looks a lot better next to a competent guard. **** is nuts.

Dotson isn't even in the rhelm of Green. I'm not sure what his contract situation and cap hit is but he it isn't off there cliff if he has to start. He is decent. He would be a 2.7 million dollar cap save cut but someone still has to back up. Maybe Herbig and Anderson for all three spots.

That looks like a multifactorial result. As besides being next to a better player he has worked his arse off to improve in the off-season. Plus it doesn't hurt having a high draft pick nipping at your heels.

And the fact he didn't throw in the towel after the Steelers moved up for Broderick Jones in the draft. BJ has a ways to go but if he can really put in the work this year and show something when eventually his name is called maybe the Steelers can lock up Moore and kick him to RT and have two young book end tackles for Pickett for the next 5 years.
