Damn this time of year use to be so special,

Everybody deflects when I ask this question. What can we do other than just take it? What can we do as fans that will change what is going on with the Steelers? And, if we come up with something, are we willing to see it through?
I don’t think anyone “ deflects” You know exactly all the fans can do is voice their displeasure. Whether it be on forums such as this or at the games live. And of course the You Tubers, podcasts etc. Are you trying to say posters haven’t voiced their displeasure on here for quite some time? There are many fans that still think CMT is the answer. Heck eventually even you have questioned his coaching only after listening to that DK podcast recently. I listened to that as well. People on here have said the exact same things they said for years now. While many can say they won’t buy merchandise etc,the riches from the NFL is of course TV.

Question for you. Do you think Canada’s firing was helped by the fans? He was booed at the games loudly. Including the Penguins. It was the talk of all fans and media. I do believe the intense pressure brought on by the fans and media had a huge impact. Also the fact of course that our offense had hit rock bottom.

The difference with Tomlin is we certainly haven’t hit rock bottom. It’s not like we are 2-15. So I’d say many of the average fans are still going to say he’s doing a good job….we just need a couple more players signed during the off season etc, etc. The same dribble I’ve heard year after year after year.

The only thing I can think up personally is going to the games with the 85% of the posters on SN here and if they play like they have been, instead of a wave start the Fire Tomlin or Tomlin Sucks chant until the whole stadium is screaming it for the whole bloody game. And then the next game.
Are you in Diver?😉 Perhaps you could hire one of those planes to do a fly over with one of those signs behind them to start us off.

For the first time in my life, I went through a Steelers playoff week and there is absolutely zero buzz for this game. I'm not sure anyone actually believes the Steelers will or can win this game without it feel like some manufactured optimism. That's where the Steelers are as a team right now and it's kinda sad. Maybe they'll surprise us tonight.
I think we do have a "chance" of winning looking at our collective histories. Lamar does not play well vs. Pgh or on the playoffs.

I give us a 10% chance. There is no question they are the better team, better coached, better QB'd, better D. The thing is, it doesn't matter if we win, we will lose soon enough. This is a Fraudlin team, just frauds. Very little credibility left in this group. What is their brand? The media STILL thinks it's defense and a tough running game, it's neither of those things. Mediocre Mike is fraudulent on those fronts.

your negativity is draining.

First of all, for a good while I have believed they should have moved on from Tomlin and have stated as much. Where I was wrong is I have always put more responsibility on the players for the results of games since they play. After listening to DK and others (Williamson), who have been very reasoned over the years in my opinion, express their exasperation with Tomlin and the game plans, I acknowledge I'm may not be right. At times the forum here ain't very reasoned.

No. I do not believe Canada's firing had anything to do with the fans. If it did, he would have been gone a hell of a lot earlier, IMO. I think we all disliked Canada almost instantly. Remember one of DK's points. Tomlin is so stubborn he has to be right. I think Rooney may have some of that too.

Sure, if you think buying a ticket...therefore filling up the seats, giving Rooney the full portion of attendance money...so as to chant "Fire Tomlin"..if it will help, let's do it. But it kinda reminds me of one time when we were out to eat with my mother-in-law who can be a real pain in the *** sometimes to waitresses. She got a steak, ate it, but then wanted to ***** about the steak. The waitress said to her, "Well, it musta been ok, you ate it." I gave her a really nice tip. If I'm Rooney, I'm saying, "Well, they showed up!"

I laughed at the plane comment. Veery good. Remember when planes did go over the stadiums? Probably get shot down today.

"While I agree with you as to what you spoke being a major component, there is an intangible that can't be easily quantified....if you will." (Damn those "Mike Tomlin How to B.S.The Public" on cassette are really working!)

Seriously though, we are in their heads especially Lamar's. They can NOT lose to us as that would be a disaster for them. They can lose in the next round and their team; harbaugh, their city, could live with it, but not to us. So if we catch a few breaks and the turnover battle swings our way early, we get up on them, or if we stay with them panic could set in. That could be the only chance we have. They panic and beat themselves.

We need a change in leadership in the president's role. Art 2 has failed to uphold the standard; he has lowered the bar significantly. In his own words, in 2004, he admonished the teams' failures in the AFC Championship Games and said that at some point, we needed to win a championship, which we did the very next year.

Now we are mired in mediocrity awaiting our next non-losing season and he says and does nothing other than saying we need to win some playoff games and then extending contracts to those responsible for the product on the field. THAT'S lowering the bar. THAT'S changing the standard.

Tonight, sadly, I expect zero passes to the middle of the field, I expect Mycrole Pruitt to be a focus on early drives over Pat, the afterthought, Freiermuth, I expect Najee to get double the opportunity of Jaylen Warren, and I expect, at a critical juncture of the game to see Cordalle Patterson lined up in the backfield and lose 5 yards on a HB Toss.

We are completely Stuck on Stupid! Again!!

Please tell me that I am wrong.

You may be wrong if they pull out all the stops and play to win, not Tomlin's idea of playing to win, but to utilize ALL the personnel and passing patterns they have. The team is getting roasted by the local media and a lot of it centers around the definition of insanity...you all know: Doing the same thing over and over..yada yada. So it may happen on offense you never know. And of course # 1 is the O-line holding up otherwise the point is moot.

I am thinking the only hope is the Rats make mistakes or are forced into them and they panic, but hey Tomlin might surprise everyone and like I said lay it all on the line offense wise. Like I said he hasn't caught this much heat...we'll let Nikki Glazer explain it. This is for Gronk but it could go for our staff as well.

It’s been years since they had a legit contender.

The good news is that things have absolutely changed under Omar and Weidl. They have a real plan now and not just random picks. This OL may be excellent next year if Fantanu is the real deal. That’s huge. Everything on offense follows from that.

On defense they have added to front 7 depth. Payton Wilson is a budding star. I think they have something in Trice at CB. If they can add a decent slot CB, the secondary can be really good as well.

From a personnel standpoint I’m very optimistic. If they have another strong offseason like the last 2, they should have one of the better rosters around. Then focus will be all on coaching.

The 70s we were feared. Now teams want us. KC wanted to beat us to keep Bungles out and Denver in. We can't beat Ravens today! Maybe they will beat themselves. That is the only way we win. I can't see this team scoring more than 17 it's without help. They will not win this game with this group and staff. I hope I'm dead wrong. 3 turnovers by birds we might,2 we lose. 24-13 Ravens with my bet.
Like I said yesterday(look up^) Time to reload now. Tomlin is are best trade chip. TJ is next then GP. Go get 5 or 6 picks. Get a offensive mind HC. Teams have to score in today's NFL Art. Blow it up get on the phone by noon. You should be done talking to Tomlin by then. While your at it Fitz,Queen unload let Wilson and Harris hit the road. Your Grandaddy is very disappointed the way you let this team slide. We're very average and nobody fears us. They have fun playing us. Time to man up Mr. We don't need 2 Nuttings in town. One is one to many!

The drafts have been very good. We'll see about the development portion, but they're putting an emphasis on premium positions and building quality depth.

I've checked out financially and emotionally. I buy no merch, attend no games and don't even spend a few days at training camp for over 5 years now. I still watch, but I'm not glued to the TV the entire time. I have things to do. I've gotten my Sunday runs in while the game is being played. I'll turn the game on when I get back home. I ran some errands yesterday and just one individual was sporting Steelers apparel. Years ago you would see black and gold everywhere. People would be so hyped up getting food for the "big game." It was such a special feeling. It's all gone for me and my family who would get together every Sunday to share that feeling win, or lose. We knew we had a fighting chance, unlike now. We have all had enough until this organization make some serious changes. Not only does Tomlin needs to go, but so does Art 2. He isn't built for this. I also said on here, once #7 goes, so do I. He was the last of the greats that represented Steelers football.

I ran to the store yesterday in the middle of the game. Took my dog, too.

We can’t even beat the 2-15 teams

At my age, there are a lot more important things in life than wins and losses by the Steelers. We've had some great runs in my lifetime and I'm thankful for all of them. I went to a bar to watch a band last night. The game was on in the background on the televisions, but I barely looked at it. The standard is now mediocrity. The young Rooney's want your ticket/parking/concessions/ memorabilia money. It's obvious that being relevant doesn't matter. Once I become indifferent, it's not worth my energy at all.

It's a shame. I'll be a Steelers fan until my last breath, but barring something I know isn't happening, I won't be spending any more money to go to games or on anything else Steelers related. Minus my monthly fee here. Some of you fools are alright in my book.

I couldn't agree more. The days of agonizing over the losses are gone. It's not half as painful when you know the team has no business being in the playoffs, and over half a decade since they fielded a competitive product. In the glory days of Ben, the losses hurt because you knew no matter what Ben alone gave you a chance.
I just think of it big picture, 95% of NFL fans never had a great run with a great QB for almost 2 decades. We were spoiled, second only to the Patriots for alot of years.
It was fun while it lasted, but a reasonable fan cannot expect to see another run like that. It's once in a lifetime, and sadly its over. Unfortunately We'll never get another Ben, Brown, Bell, Holmes, Parker, Bettis, Miller, Troy, James. Not in our lifetime. Hell watching the game when Pat came up short by half a yard I remember saying to my wife, Pat has been ok at times, but he ain't no Heath. Those guys made all the difference, especially when it counted.
Replacing Tomlin and the rest of the coaches would be a fresh start, but even with the best coaches we are still mediocre at most of the positions.

If Tomlin will play him in his natural spot. I can see him doing something stupid like keeping Jones at RT and moving Fantanu to LT, that way both of them can play out of position. Beanie Bishop can be the slot guy, he made mistakes this year as a rookie, but he also made plays. A hell of a lot more than Sutton did.

I remember in the 90's getting up before it was light out to watch the Pittsburgh news broadcasting live from Three Rivers stadium all morning before the playoff game, then into the 2000's at Heinz Field, the shots from the tailgates all morning before the playoff games, there was always that feeling that we could win the whole thing in any given playoffs, there was that excitement. This is what Tomlin has made disappear from me as a fan, I'd love to see them knock Baltimore out, but there's not real thoughts of us having any shot at winning the Super Bowl, that feeling has been gone for about 6 years now. It's not just me, it's the entire city, there hasn't been any clips of merchandise flying off the shelves across the city like those previous years.
I actually feel sorry for Yinz guys. It was once great rivalry. Games to look forward to. No mo.

Canaduh wasn't fired because he sucked, lots of assistants have sucked but they just wait for their contracts to run out. He was fired because he was putting that precious "No losing seasons" streak in jeopardy. Even at that, they waited until they only had to pay him to sit at home for half a season.

As others have said, I didn't miss a game this year on TV but they are no longer must-see TV. If I have something else to do, I'll do it.
The Steelers license plate frame is coming off my truck tomorrow, it's been too cold and snowy all week to bother with it, and the ULTRA MAGA frame is going back on. The lettering is blue to match the Luxury Ranger.

Six years ago today, the Jags embarrassed us in the divisional round.

Best coach ever.
