Day Three - Draft

Daequan Hardy just came off the board. Going to be a steal. He will be a Mike Hilton type nickel but with better speed

I would trade a 2025 6th for an early 7th in 2024 to snag Brenden Rice, Eric Watts, Curtis Jacobs or Gabe Hall. Wondering if there’s medical reasons they are still on the board.
Just wondering why they would trade a 2025 6th to draft one of them in the 7th when they didn't use one of their two 6th round picks on any of them this year?

Value for current draft picks is 1 round higher in the next draft. It’s been a pretty blah draft so far. At least we have fixed our offensive line for the foreseeable future.

The team probably sees Rush as their 4th round CB pick of 2024, they probably have him rated higher than any of the available CBs in mid /late round

Dane Brugler says he's a Safety.
He would have to be. Put him in the box and see if you can develop. His coverage skills are highly suspect. I think if he sticks it will be as a SS or a solid special teamer with his athleticism.

Offensive linemen 1st and 2nd round are soooo dull. I prefer getting a 5th QB, like Atlanta. Offensive line is overrated beyond description. Look at those great Steelers teams 1972-1979, the 2005 team - terrible offensive lines!! They could not run the ball AT ALL!

All QB's and WR's - they are never 1st round busts!

you forgot backup Punter.

Chiefs took Nourzad despite having solid starters at C and G. Same situation as steelers taking McCormick. Teams are really stocking up on OL.

I think another reason to draft OL ahead of time is because all of the soft practice rules have filtered down to college and HS. So OL need more development than they used to.

They are taking insurance as they might not be able to afford Creed when his contract comes up.
To many stars to pay the C.

Prior to drafting Jones last year, the Steelers went literally over a decade without drafting OL in the first or second round. Kind of mind boggling, and we saw the results of that near the end of Roethlisberger's career and shortly after.

If anything was getting dull, it was drafting a receiver every ******* year in the second round. That combined with the Devin Bush trade were signs that Colbert probably needed to move on.

The new approach from Kahn/Weidel is refreshing at the very least.

Gabe Hall, Eric Watts, Keith Randolph jr would all compete for with Laudermilk and Leal. We better be on the phone with their agents.

GO sit on your Pickelhaube.

What you and your White Castle Girls do behind closed doors is not my business.

Just don’t get any of that stuff on the BT50 seat.

Salute the nation

Not super excited about a developmental DL as Lee has to get bigger and stronger, IMO. Has the potential to contribute but not this year.
He's kind of a throwback to the way we used to draft DLmen (i.e. Aaron Smith, Keisel). Not sure why we quit doing things that way, it was working fine before. We used to draft bigger DLmen who could grow into run defenders, 1st and foremost. It used to work fine.

They did try with Loudermilk though

Did they? They seemed to trash the general philosophy, Tomlin style. He never seemed to get the 3-4 system, just didn't get it.

Agreed. Watched his highlight tape...he's clumsy as **** at man CB. Looks much more fluid at S and can definitely come up in the box and smack.

Was thinking the same. Cowher / Lebeau turned converting college DLs into LBs into a science for awhile there
YEAH, I watched some videos on the kid. He is a lean svelt stud of a guy who doesnt have the genes to be a hog . I can see him slimming down and being a TJ Watt clone. his 40 time is suspect though.
