Diontae cut by Houston

They dominate the league in working those comp picks. For an organization that values draft picks as much as we do I can’t believe we’re not more proactive with it as well.

The Groundhog saw its shadow………….. 6 more weeks of extended delay to add to the already extended delay……..

which is more than the zero the Steelers will get.
rats FO 1
steelers FO 0

No, we got Donte Jackson and a 6th for DJ and a 7th. I doubt DJ gets picked up by any team after what he showed this year. Lets also remember that the Ravens gave up a 5th for DJ and a 6th. So far, they have given up a 5th round pick for a 6th round pick. They are HOPING a team picks him up and they can at least get their pick back.

So I'd say

Steelers FO - 1
Rats FO - 0

was there anything precluding the Steelers from claiming Dropsie before the Rats? If not, they were better at FO games while still in their PO run.

you want Pickens to stop "loafing"? Run the ball his direction. Make him a more integral part of the offense.

He's got TO talent and we're utilizing it as inefficiently as possible. In fact, TO is a good example of who Pickens can be - body control and hands. Whereas TO had to bust his *** and develop a prime work ethic, Pickens has not had to work as hard, IMO.

As said, he wears his emotions on his sleeve. You can see he wants to win. I guess when you're on the field 69% of the plays (https://www.footballguys.com/stats/snap-counts/teams?team=PIT&year=2024) and show that when you're "featured" you produce, but then are relegated time and time again... it might take it's toll. I'd love to see GP develop some Hines level work ethic, but he hasn't been through the tribulations Hines had been.

GP is currently an idiot, but also an immensely talented idiot. It'd be foolhardy to give up on him at this point.

Still don't see how they are better. They went from the 5th to the 6th round. Sure they got Johnson back, but the chances anyone signs him for anything that they are able to recoup a pick, is highly unlikely. IF he signs elsewhere, it'll be a vet min prove it deal, then he'll have to play a certain % of snaps, and even then, if the Ravens sign a vet min guy, it's a wash. THE BEST case scenario for them, is a 7th round pick. In which they would have traded a 5th round pick for a 6th in 25 and 7th in 26.

As for anything precluding us from grabbing him? Common sense would be my guess. He's been traded twice and cut twice in one year... probably not even worth the paperwork. I'm not sure if salary cap would have anything to do with it.

If you could literally do some paperwork, make no payment, pick him up without him ever needing to appear and then get a 7th or better, that would seem like a free pick for rudimentary paperwork.

Prior transactions do not matter because they have happened. Now the Rats get an extra pick because they were smart enough to fill in some paperwork.

Rats get the W on this mundane waiver pickup.

Clearly, the Steelers won the initial trade.

They could also have done a bit of mundane paperwork and get a possible extra pick, but that upside goes to the rats.

Prior transactions only do not matter if we are talking separate players. They made the initial decision to trade for DJ, he lasted 4 games. If we had cut Mike Williams 4 games into his stint with us, people would be up in arms about the waste of a draft pick. Even if we did bring him back for the very slight chance at a 7th.

The Steelers got a serviceable player for the year for getting a complete POS like Drops off the team

Make no mistake Action Jackson for Drops was a win…and the Rats will likely get Jack squat compensation from Drops as nobody is offering him above vet minimum/1 year prove it deal.

They likely picked him up just so he couldn’t join KC PS and give away play calls/signals on the chance they beat the Bills.

In this instance I’d give our FO the win

We’ll either resign a starting CB we got in the trade or Jackson departs to a bigger contract than Drops will get thus giving us the better shot at a comp pick than Rats
