I dropped the Sunday ticket 2 or 3 years ago because I couldn't justify the cost. Today in the mail I get a notice from Direct TV that because I've been such a loyal customer, they're giving me it for free this year,
along with the ability to stream games if I'm not at home. While I appreciate the gesture, why can't they just lower the price for everyone. If it's an attempt to lure me back, they will be disappointed.

Because cable/satellite/cell phone companies aren't selling a real product they are more interested in new customers than loyal customers. I think if the average upper middle class family added up all the bullshit it is somewhere between a major luxury car payment and a mortgage on a very good house.

They sent me the same thing. I haven't had it in probably 5 years so I was surprised. I think its DTV's way of keeping customers throughout the summer. I mean if peoples bills get tricky with this Covid thing that's probably the first thing to go. I agree with you though,I had it since 97 and I think at that point it was around $100 bucks, they eventually just priced it to the point I couldn't justify it, especially the way our schedule had been set up over the last few seasons. Employees get that **** free so I spent a lot of Sundays at a friend of mine's house.

I've had Sunday Ticket for over 10 years -- in my experience, it's all about who you talk to, but as an existing customer, you always need to threaten to cancel your service (ask for the retention department). Last year it took several calls, but I ended up getting a total of $60 per month in credits for a year, which were more than double the cost of the regular package. So they also ended up paying for my Center Ice package, with plenty to spare. Just be persistent.

Yep...been with DTV for eons and dropped the NFL Ticket a couple years ago. Got my free NFL package notice today and I was expecting a caveat of some kind.

Nope...free for the year, no re-up or extended contract,,,nuffin.

Sheeit....Now I can stay on lock-down till January, or forever even, now that we have instacart and shipt in the area....lol

I have Direct Tv if they send it to me for free I'll take it. I canned it halfway through last season. I only want the Steeler games anyway. I don't need the rest of them. I already know what they are ..a **** ton of cheap passing yards and flags every other ******* play..throw in replay that they still don't get right, 3 billion commercials and it's just painful to watch.

That's my take anyway.

The NFL Package combined with a genie unit and there is no need to watch commercials, just tape the game and start watching about an hour or so after it starts.

The redzone channel takes care of that. I never was a fan of watching other games because of what you mention above, but man do they know how to draw you in with that redzone package. Much is edited out minus the gameplay. They used to have (I don't know if they still do) half hour cut-ups of just the plays of each game that would come out on that following Tuesday (I forget off the top of my head what it was called) and that's a great way to re-watch a good Steelers game without all the other nonsense. Now that I think about it, I think it was called NFL shortcuts.

I gave up cable completely about 5 years ago. At that time I was paying about $260.00 per month for the MEGA-package. I got an "Apple" streaming devise and NETFLIX for $7.00 a month, what a change over and NEVER missed "big" cable a bit. Eventually I dropped NETFLIX as my daughter has a 4-pack HULU and gave me password. I also have Amazon Prime (through my company). I do get NFL Game Pass for $99.00 per year. That is it. I've been watching my STEELERS games at my loco "REDHEAD's" sports bar and treated like a king for the last 20+ years.

VERY minimal cost and the sports BAR is as much social as game so the cost there is looked at as entertainment value. I spent $20.00 and get personal TV game and a meal.

I'm sure many here are in this near same boat and for me personally it's my lifetime love of my STEELERS that even keeps me viewing or I'd say **** IT to the NFL.

I always found it amazing that when they cut out all the BS, you can watch an entire game in 20 minutes.

Right. Amazing ain't it?

That is what I'm assuming, I won't be any worse off than now if it's just streaming, but reading it, and defined as Max, it would include watching it off the receiver.

Was a LOYAL DTV subscriber for about 20 years.
Always posted tips and tricks to getting NFLST for free every year.
Dropped them like 4th period French when DTV got bought out by AT&T.
Was streaming Playstation Vue until they went under, and now I'm with YouTubeTV for Live TV.
Five+ years into streaming and I'm still loving it.
NHL TV doesn't care who your provider is, you just stream on whatever.
I'm so over the NFL.
I love the Steelers, I always will, but this is NOT the game I/we grew up on.
It's a shell of its former self. *sigh*

what I read the max is where you watch up to eight live games on a single screen with the game mix channel. I am hoping I will be able to watch the Steelers on the recievier. not a bunch of games at the same time. thanks

I'm pretty sure Max is in addition to Sunday Ticket. Sunday Ticket provides the opportunity to watch any Sunday regular season game (with the exception of blackouts) and the Max part is the red zone portion, some fantasy **** and maybe the game mix? I know those greedy ******** don't include red zone with a regular ST subscription they expect you to pony up another hundred to watch it.

I remember several years ago, right around june, you could call them up and threaten to cancel, they would do anything to keep you, including throwing in the nfl package for free. I did thi for years.

about 4 years ago, I called and did the same deal. the response was immediate. sorry to see you go. I was like ****, well if you throw the nfl package in I will stay. They were like no.

I have paid for the nfl package ever since.

Yep they did me the same way. I knew the minute ATT bought them I was ******. I know a few guys that had it for years and dropped it, but they must make up the difference by those willing to pay more for it. ICS can you get a quality free stream on a weekly basis? I've heard this around here for years but have never really tried or even looked into it. I'm one of the few probably still paying for DTV but I think I'm to the point where I'm tired of it. Honestly I don't know why you can't just pay for a Steelers Sunday ticket because I give zero ***** about the rest.

The 8- and 4-game split screens are included with the regular Sunday Ticket, and you get each individual game on its own channel. Max adds the Red Zone Channel and an additional station with fantasy information.

Get a streaming devise (Apple I've got, fire-stick, Hulu, etc.) and cut all ties to cable DT. I've got HULU (free from daughter) & Prime TV,(my company pays for it). I go to my "redhead's) sports bar that I've been going to for near 20 years. I eat durring game and get treated special, VERY special :) all for $20 as I don't drink alcohol.

EDIT: I didn't last year but have in the past paid for "Game Pass" I think $99.00 and this year I will get it due to
C -19 and distancing may take away from the bar quality of watching.
