Or maybe the NFL believes those cable cutters will find other ways to watch primetime and playoff games. Which is why they've already started streaming Thursday Night Football on Amazon, to whom they sold the rights for 11 billion dollars.

But of course I shouldn't expect a guy asking stupid questions to have any sort of understanding of the NFL's business acumen.

Yes it’s more expensive but we are saving a crap ton every month switching from Directv to Youtubetv so I’m ok with it.

You also get Red Zone. But if you’re in the U.S., you need to pay YouTube $389/year and that does not give you the preseason games, or the Thursday/Sunday/Monday night games, or any of the playoff games, or Red Zone. It’s a horrible deal.”

I had no idea that Youtube package doesn’t include Thursday,Sunday or Monday night,no playoffs? Is that true?

Sunday ticket never included them, they are broadcast on your local channels (which you get on Youtubetv or Directv).

Paid $249 for it back in April as their "special price." I'm sure it's higher now and still not sure how it will actually work. Maybe an extension on their programing menu?

As someone that subscribed for years way back when I absolutely will not be going back unless there are: 1) single games; 2) team package; and 3) more reasonable prices. Even with a team package, decent teams will also see 3-5 games on national broadcast and at least a couple (if not more) games available in out-of-market locations.

Even with that hardline position I have never had to miss a Steelers game that I didn't want/need to miss (i.e., family and real life stuff).

Missing games doesnt bother me anymore. I can survive without watching pro sports for the most part. Family and real life does seem to pop up more on sundays of recent years.

Especially now with the nfl charging an arm and a leg to watch a game. Even attending a game is a burn on the wallet. Tickets, parking, consessions. It’s a luxury to afford that

I decided to get the package this year. Haven’t had it in over 10 years but my dad moved in a short while back, so it was a no brainer. Gotta admit, I’m happy about the decision. Always used crackstreams. Not perfect, but it worked.

I've had the ticket for a long time and the last 5 or 6 years were free. I didn't bother this year but I'll still watch the games one way or another. Maybe this will force me to go to the Steelers fan club here which has well over 100 people for every game.

I live about 45 minutes away from the Burgh. So, I see all the Steelers games on local TV. However, I do watch other, out-of-market, games using the Firestick or NVIDIA. Shield.

I still have DirecTv. Right now Channell 211 says it's Redzone Channel. DirecTv has a bunch of misleading ads so i have no idea if this is the actual Redzone that we've had for years or if it will be some kind of studio show without showing live games. I have the Steelers on my local channel so I'm waiting to see what I actually get before I subscribe to Youtube.

I did notice that there 5 games at 4PM. I wonder if that's something youtube insisted on. The last 5 years or so, the NFL was scheduling very few games at 4. I think this was so that the networks could have 1 big ratings 4PM game instead of ratings being split over 4 or 5 regional games. The lack of 4PM games made Sunday Ticket (IE actually being able to watch out of market games) almost worthless. I would watch Steelerts at 1. Then at 4, I barely was able to switch around to games.

Wouldn't surprise me if Youtube saw that as a flaw. Networks want TV ad revenue, so ratings matter. But youtube wants subscribers, so the ratings of individual games are less important.

Canada (country not OC) has something right. Dazn streams all Games and is less than 30 a month. You can cancel as soon as playoffs start. So you only need 4 months.
