Draft Day Two

Would of taken Lawson but happy for Conner!

we urgently need a S in the next round and I bet there will be value when it's our time to pick

any insight on him? my internet is terrible tonight and can't search for scouting reports or open videos

Great pick! The guy is a beast and is a leader. Many are gonna say reach but the Steelers needed to take him here if they wanted him IMO.

Nice story, like the kid and all, but there were a couple guys there that offer more.

i ******* HATE this pick. Are you kidding me? You take a backup RB in the 3rd? He's not even the best back abailable. I'd rather Gallman, Perine, Pumphrey.

I was set to be mad at picking a QB but this is worse.

Round 1 Pick 30:*T.J. Watt, OLB/DE, Wisconsin (B)
Round 2 Pick 30:*JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Southern California (B-)
Round 3 Pick 30:*Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennessee (A)
Round 3 Pick 41 (COMP):*James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh (C)

The Steelers are going character first this year. I'm fine with it. They need more stand up guys in that locker room. These players aren't bums either. Every last one of them play their ****** ***** off.

Tell that to Tape...he's heading for a bridge...

Great feel good pick....yay Pittsburgh.

he runs like LeVeon did when LeVeon was 245-250.....probably gone by our #4, will take a load off Bell, DeWil's replacement.

fine, whatever.

Tape, Connor (besides being a warrior, local kid, and great story) will go a LONG way towards fixing our long-standing red zone woes. The kid is a tough pounding type of RB, and he will play a critical role on this team, including keeping Bell fresh for the playoffs.

The 4th round will be a good time to get a safety to groom. No draftee was going to beat out Mitchell and Davis, so a developmental guy might be the best move.

Definitely a reach in classic Tombert style. Hope the best for the kid seems like a good egg.

Not a Rainey or Archer type reach, Conner will bust his *** on and off the field.

I think if you go back to the 2014 film, you see what he really is capable of doing. In that season, he had 298 carries for 1765 yards. He has also developed as a receiving back and showed that last season when he had 21 receptions for 302 yards (over 14 YPC). But, he sent out a letter to all 32 teams asking to not be judged on last season alone because he did not finish chemo until May and saw his weight get up to 260 with a loss of muscle mass. He went right to work. He stated during the first few games/practices, he would be exhausted after long runs. It took him half the season to get back in form and in the last 6 games he played, four were over 100 yards per game with YPC over 6 each game.

The one thing he guaranteed coaches was, if they gave him a shot, he would work his rear off to be the best he could be. I don't mind drafting guys like that.

Okay, let me say this.

When is the last time that Bell played 16 games? Do the Steelers have Deangelo Williams?

A legit, reliable, genuine RB was a need. And I watched Connor in 2014 as a freshman and thought he was one of the best RB's in college. He was hurt in 2015, had cancer, ******* practiced while undergoing chemo-goddamn-therapy in 2016, played at maybe 80%, and was a very good RB at 80%. He reports that now he is back to full health.

So the Steelers get a RB who is one of the best between-the-tackle guys in the draft. A guy with heart, and character, and drive, who loves football, who can catch the ball out of the backfield ... at pick 104. If you criticize this pick ... uhhh, okay. I love this freaking pick.

Not sure how anyone can hate the pick. You're way underselling Conner's talent and skill and the backups on this team stink right now. It was a need and they got a guy who will contribute and could potentially even start. Can't say that about all third rounders.

He runs a 4.65 and has stiff hips. But he's a great guy. Draft the high character guy in RD 6, not in RD 3 when there are still players who can help you immediately on the board.

Is Conner better than Fitz Toussaint? Maybe, but not by much. I was thinking they could take Gallman there but that's because Gallman is a good receiver and could back up Bell in that aspect. What does Conner bring to the table? He's a straight ahead pounder. I don't understand paying a premium for that.

I seriously think this is one of the worst picks the steelers have ever made. I don't get it.

Le Veon Bell had similar combine numbers. Go look at the tape man. The 2014 tape for Conner is awesome. He dominates in close quarters and is a physical proactive contact runner. He has great feet for a big back too especially behind the line of scrimmage. He's got a good burst as well. His lateral movement isn't too good. His top speed is obviously not the best either but he makes the most of his runs. You wants guys of this body type to always get positive yards. He does that efficiently. He's not the reach you're making him out to be. The guy can play in this league.
