Dulac-"Steelers intend to take CB in round one"

Additionally, he went a step beyond that to say that Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple would likely be the selection should he still be on the board come time for them to make their 25th overall pick

I'm really starting to feel Mackensie might be the pick. Didn't they mention something about stats not as important as tape at the pre draft press conference? At the time seemed to me they were specifically talking about Alexander.
 
Well hopefully Apple is gone before we pick.

Personally I want Alexander but I'll be okay with Jackson.
 
How often has the Steelers first round pick been what we expected? I'm thinking Joseph or even Neal come in to the picture. All depends on how the rest of the picks pan out there are going to be surprise picks ahead of us and possible trades so there will be at least 2 or 3 guys available at 25 we never thought would be there.

I actually thought Karl Joseph when they mentioned trusting the tape, seeing as Joseph couldn't workout pre draft, so his tape is all you got. So as others have said and I said in another thread I can easily see Joseph being very high on their board if not the pick at 25
 
Once again I have said this so many times, the Steelers have shown little to no interest in Apple, and yet it is just wash, rinse, and repeat with these writers. I do not see Apple being high on the Steelers board, the only CBs worth taking in the 1st are Hargreaves (who won't be there) and WJIII. Alexander is a maybe but I'd rather trade back to take him.

I thought he was explaining the lack of interceptions for a DB. For the record I picked Joseph or Taylor as their pick before this came out. If they really are hell bent to take a CB, I have a feeling it will be Mac because I feel Jackson and Apple both will be gone by 1-25.

The Steelers do not seem to be an organization that zeroes in on only one position in a particular round, I'm pretty sure we all believe the Steelers stick to there board. That doesn't mean they won't take a need but it seems that they are very comfortable taking what is on their board.
 
as crappy as some of our picks have been wont surprise me if they take apple but he will be as much of a factor as last years number two pick was. hes a no body. he will never be a factor he will be just another warm body... trade the pick we have enough warm bodies in the secondary.. draft a fuking stud!!! that aint apple!!!
 
Only if the ones available are under 5"10'.

There ya go. That's why I think we get one of them monster DT's that are gonna be waitin' for us. That is just some pre-draft smoke about pickin' a CB @ 25, feint with your CB and come up inside with your NT is what I say.
 
Apple is a good kid from what I hear - raised by two parents - a rarity these days. Dad is a chef, I believe. From The Ohio State U. and we know how the Steelers love them some OS boys. Played for a national winner so he has PEDIGREE.

I don't think he'll fall far from the tree.

I tihnk it is quite possible he's ahead of other (more talented) CBs on the Steelers' board.

How do you like them apples?

I hope we have our draft card in as soon as the clock starts for us to select.
always fun around here when our draft pick is announced while the guy picked before us is still shaking Goodell's hand.

The ONLY thing that I can guarantee will happen tonight is that we will make our pick with 9 minutes left on the clock. Heck, Tomlin and Colbert reiterated at their press conference the other day...they've already stacked their board and they've already figured out the cost of trading up and the benefit of trading down. Once 24 players have been taken off their board, the decision as to who to take at #25 has been made already....they've already had all the debates / arguments so there is nothing to do when they get on the clock except make the pick.

If we trade back, we will use up the clock. Wouldn't mind seeing us trade back with Titans or Browns.
Getting 2 of Titans second round picks or Browns #2 and #3.
