Early First Round Mock Draft From McShay Has Steelers Selecting ....

Anyone who has been watching this team knows McCullers is a future starter. The push the big fella gets into the backfield is tremendous. He can't be blocked 1 on 1. I don't want to hear this he's too tall bullshit. He's a physical specimen and as long as he is healthy and continues to work hard he's going to be a good player.

2012 12 20 19 39 1/1 5.5/7 1 – 1 – 2 3.3
2013 12 21 12 33 0.5/1 4.5/8 – 1 1 – 4 2.8
TOTAL 24 41 31 72 1.5/2 10/15 1 1 2 – 6 3.0

There are the numbers for Daniel McCullers who I hope does well. He was not however the unstoppable force in college and was extremely raw coming out of college. He also seems to be a nice kid so with training he may improve a great deal.

Just for comparison Dontari Poe who was drafted as a junior and who we will see on the field for the chiefs this Sunday.

A significant difference between the two which is why poe went early first and McCullers went in the seventh. McCullers is a project, granted he is already doing more than many thought he could he is still a project if he works out he will be a steal and likely the best value in the whole draft, but that if is almost as big as he is. He has a lot of work to do to learn the position and play it well.

So is ths the mock draft where he has two AFC teams at 31 and 32? Did they change the rules for Super Bowl eligibility?

It's much too early to do mock drafts (I hate them anyhow).

That said, I have selected a cornerback the last two drafts in my "What I would have done" analysis. Xavier Rhodes in 2013 and last year I wanted to trade down as many times as possible and get Bradley Roby. So I have a predisposition to DB's lately.

The problem is I hate to force any position and rather look for the best combination of need and value. There are so many underclassman between now and April's draft that any analysis of draft prospect really needs to be tempered a bit.

We will see where we pick and how the big board starts shaking out come February.
