On Monday in his first address as the Housing and Urban Development secretary Ben Carson made the most headass statement he’s ever made. He foolishly compared slaves to immigrants stating, “That’s what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they, too, had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”
African people were forced here to be slaves. The word immigrant implies that the slaves had a choice. There was no choice to move to America. There was no consent. There was no compensation for the work. And more importantly, there were no dreams of pursuit of the land, only dreams of freedom. Everyone seems to know this except Ben Carson.
This brings me to my main point: Ben Carson is a 21st century Uncle Tom. Carson plays into the hands of the President Agent Orange administration in order to make his money. He’s subservient to President Agent Orange. It’s the same way that Uncle Tom sought the approval and validation of his slave masters. Even more disgusting, Carson is playing the role of the token black friend in this administration, but he doesn’t care. It’s no secret that Ben Carson was appointed the Housing and Urban Development secretary in order to appease the comments about the President Orange Administration being racist. Carson is there as a figure of diversity. However, his pathetic ability to continually kiss the *** of President Agent Orange reveals that picking Ben Carson was not a true pick of diversity. Ben Carson has legitimately sold his soul to the devil and is now attempting to make a mockery out of black people’s contribution to America. Ben Carson has already lost the support of the black community and it does not look like he’s attempting to fix the bridges that he has burned anytime soon. His behavior is embarrassing and it simply will not be tolerated by the black community.
