Elliott has a hamstring

I wonder if the game gets away from either team and it's a blowout (hopefully in our favor) if they decide to rest as many guys as they can seeing that the scheduler thought this was the Pirates playing instead of the Steelers. Asshat.

The Ravens also have 3 games in 11 days... they also were less than thrilled with it... Christmas football should not be a thing
Unless on Saturday or Sunday..
Not a darn Wednesday!
How can the players union approve that?!?

It may have caught them off-gaurd, regardless this brings back memories of the COVID schedule fiasco. Durring that stretch, we had players dropping like flies from injury.

I think the problem is guys who never had such injuries and being pros with big heads don't do due diligence with their stretching etc.
That is my point, they are not doing that. I would have my own person to be sure I was good.

I dont pretend to know how the Pros train but even in High School and College, when the Temp fluctuates from 50s to 20s trainers want you to spend more time stretching out those hammys. I am sure at the pro level the Trainers are all over it.
You would think so, but just watching pre game warmups, i think they leave it up to the individual. My son had a trainer when he played that used warming gels on the hammys and biceps when temps got below 45-50 degrees. Never saw these issues as much as the pros, maybe it is just that there is another step way up to pro level.

Watching Steelers “warm ups” can be comical

I’m older than any of these guys by a margin (and not a pro athlete) but my warm up stretching routine has a far greater range of motion than 90% of these guys when they warm up

It’s not shocking there are many soft tissue injuries on this squad if warm ups are any indicator. Guys that warm up poorly tend to do cool downs poorly too.

It's impossible to tell if it's a lack of conditioning or the lack of recovery. Everyone should be in great shape right now after playing so many games.

I would think muscle imbalances would be identified in the offseason and addressed. It's a very explosive game. We're talking going all out 100% output. There's a certain amount of recovery that goes into and everyone recovers differently. The older you are the slower that process is.

I will be shocked if they make it through 3 games in 11 days without a bunch of issues. That's crap for recovery time between games. Which will lead to more injuries.

I believe the Chiefs are playing 3 games in 11 days as well, I just saw them bitching about it the other day.

Whomever made that schedule is an asshat.
To say the league is about player safety is a joke
It’s 100% about money

But they put on a front that safety matters

Two of the top teams in the league having to be at risk of player health/safety with this 3 games in a 10-11 day window in the name of getting Netflix money too is asinine

They obviously don't give two ***** about real player safety. You have a huge investment in your players,a lot of it guaranteed. I can't fathom an owner that would want to jeopardize his investment.

Who the hell is running the show? For a league that seems intent on growing even more, they sure do things that are self sabotaging.

A lot of things take many years to hit common public knowledge after they've been debunked or proven false in the scientific world.

The National Strength and Conditioning Association(NSCA) is good place to find the up to date data and scientific findings from constant case studies throughout the country. It's an educational non-profit institution and their archives go back over 50 years. I've been with them over 20 years, though I added the ISSA last year.

All of your collegiate,Olympic and professional sports strength coaches normally certify through them.

I used to have about 400 pounds of case studies that came out every quarter until my wife made me throw them out..lol.

Their nation conferences each year are second to none when it comes to strength, conditioning and the athlete, plus all of the newest high tech toys for performance.

I stand by my statement that I would have someone under MY EMPLOY looking out for my best interests, and avoid those looking out for those that pay them.

Oh for sure. They get paid a lot. In vest in yourself. James Harrison did. He invested a fortune into his body every year.

That's your product. Your body and it's physical capabilities. If you want the highest performance you have to do the maintenance.

Nutrition and sleep are huge factors in recovery as well.

You never saw guys like Jerry Rice pulling hamstrings. The guy trained year round and it paid off for him. I'm sure there's plenty of others.

"player safety"

Liability mitigation.

The idea that billionaires are going to protect the peasantry is tragedy & comedy. Same applies to management looking out for the interests of labor....

90% of any safety rule is to keep the star players on the field of play but not for competitive reasons……..

No stars = less viewership = less ratings = less MOmoney.

Students, math class over for today. Homework: Officiating and MOmoney papers due tomorrow……………….

I think we better do some score board watching tomorrow. I believe both bubble teams have tough matchups this weekend. I don't think we are gonna see either Pickens or Elliot in the next 11 days. Its been like that all year with these soft tissue injuries. 3 weeks min.

Yes. Miami has Houston and the Colts have Broncos. Probably the straightest path for Steelers. Both would have 8 losses and the Steelers max at 7.

We won without Curious George last week and I have always been a fan of Kazee, when he is healthy and not suspended lol..

Its December football men....the teams with the will and strongest mentality prevail..

Russell Wilson and Coach T has this team believing in themselves... and what their doing on the field...

There's a gleam men!

Enjoy the moments.

THEY beat the Cleveland Browns where there is good Crab Legs and bad Crab Legs. The Steelers got bad Crab Legs. This week is a completely different beast.

I have a hamstring too. Two of them as a matter of fact .

In case one goes bad.

Aren’t they supposed to do stretching exercises to prevent them.
This seems like a preventable injury.
Every time I hear about a hamstring injury I want to think they skimped on their stretching exercises.

Improper warm up can be a culprit but so is lack of conditioning and poor lifting form
