I'm seeing some things that are positive but more things that are a concern through 1.5 games.

Pros:
1) Mobility - he can buy time and even do a little running to pick up the occasional first down.
2) Arm Strength - seems to have more than adequate zip on the ball to make it as an NFL QB

Negatives:
1) Holds the ball too long, or is struggling with his reads. Decision-making seems to be slow.
2) In the alternative to 1) above, he predetermines where he is going to throw the ball and is not reading anything beyond that predetermined decision. At this point, he is comfortable throwing to Dionte, Claypool and Freiermuth. If you are not one of those 3 guys, he will not even look in your direction. Pickens has been open on several routes today but Mitch is literally not even looking at him, never seems to work his progressions enough to find an open 6-3, 200 pound target.
3) Accuracy is, at times, below average.
4) He also seems willing to throw out of bad footwork frequently and that is going to bite him/us sooner than later. Back foot throws sail with less velocity. Wrong-foot throws are not accurate, period.

I'm not one of these fans calling for Kenny Pickett with every incomplete pass. But I have concerns over Mitch Trubisky even though it's early. His tendencies are not those of successful NFL quarterbacks and I don't see him as having John Elway or Ben Roethlisberger ability to just wing it and have it turn out fine.

He just doesn't seem to be structured or quickly processing the mental aspects post-snap. Those are issues with young QBs. It shouldn't be an issue with a 5-6 year vet.

Just go to Pickett already... I can't believe it could be worse but if it is you could always toss Mason out there.

He's already got triple the opportunity Cowher gave Jim Miller. I'm unimpressed so far.
But, there are other circumstances to consider. There will be no 3rd progression, and there will not be much running game with this o-line. That's just the way it is. Everything is generally going to be behind the sticks.
I'd like to see him more "decisive" out there, and I'd like to see him run the ball without sliding at first opportunity, especially when a first down is in reach.

He still looks like a rookie. He stared at DJ the entire time on his int. He never scanned the field or looked away. And, somehow, he still didn't see the guy right where DJ was running. Ridiculous!

The play calling is pitiful. Week 2 and they are still throwing all short balls just like last year when Ben was here. It was a beautiful thing in our comeback wins when Ben finally said f you to Canaduh and called his own plays to bring us back to win. Trubisky can't do that so we are stuck with Trubisky being mediocre, at best, and Canaduh who sucks.

That was his rap in Chicago.

Trub is one, two... read kinda QB. He already knows where this thing is gonna go. Dont ask him to make more than 1 read, and surely don't ask him to make reads quickly.

The flip side is, if you design plays to f*ck with the safeties then Mitch can be unbeatable - he gets into this groove that's Rodgers-like.

Canaduh was back to his **** play calling. 3rd and long and he calls a play to the LOS and expects the RB to get 8+ yards. Same ****, different year and week. Still no throwing down the field. We were sitting at 17-14 and got the ball on our 10 and then our 25. We went 3 and out on both with pitiful play calls. They didn't even try to let Trubisky get us downfield to score. NE then took the remaining 7+ minutes and ran it every down to run the clock out and win the game.

Not a defender of Mitch or Canada, but that is one of the best secondaries in the NFL they just went against. What I didn't like was that on the deep plays that were there Mitch hit guys in the face mask, passes were behind and late. And he had no excuse this week as the O-line protected well today. That and sliding in the first quarter when he could have easily picked up a first down. Gunner's fumble was the back breaker though he doesn't do that and it's a different winnable game. And Sutton dropping an easy pick didn't help matters as this O needs all the help it can get.

I think you go a couple more games with Mitch and if he can't get his stuff together it's time to bring out the hook. I am hesitant to go with Pickett and have him shell shocked and ruined.... then where do you go? But you got to do what you got to do.

How many times we were in 3rd down and he ends up throwing a dump off to the RB, who wasn't even free? He rarely hits receivers in stride, like he did with the td and 2 pt conversion.

I don't know if it's all his fault or tge play calling doesn't help, gotta see replays with a wide angle

He's gun shy to throw down the middle and deep. You can't be against a secondary like the Pats have, you HAVE to challenge them so they back off the intermediate stuff.

Trubisky a little defensive during PC....did take some of the blame, but went on a short " opinions are like_____everyone's got one" sanitized rant.
I guess he is looking over his shoulder.

He basically said "everyone has suggestions yada...yada...,but we have to come together make plays." LOL... :ROFLMAO::mad: The heat is on ...maybe?

I had never really seen him play until this year. My take is that he's not great, obviously, and probably not terrible. He seems capable of making some decent plays. I think our offense is just effed up and maybe he, along with everyone else, is a victim of that mess.

Trubisky did not make mistakes last week and we won. He did this week and we lost. That and terrible O coordinator equals loss. It is both simple and complex at the same time. I watched too much football this weekend between the kids' soccer games. Canada is sooooo much trash it is irresponsible to say anything else. Our D is stout. I would give Pickett the shot. BUT I would only do that firing Canada at the same time.

Poor mechanics, poor field vision and a piss poor OC that has a HC pissing down his leg taboot is all I’m see from Trubisky and Co.
