Even Mean Joe is Disgusted With Steelers Effort Levels

Wow you mean you had to watch them struggle like the rest of us. Nowhere as bad as the Cliff time period, etc.
A lot of fans love Tomlin and his non losing seasons record. A competent coach would not have squandered all the loaded rosters in one of the easiest divisions in the league the last 10 years. Nor squandered a HOF QB in his prime and the best organization in the NFL.His arrogance and lack of accountability is irksome at best and fraudulent at worst, the Steelers and the fans deserve much better.

Claypool still has a ton of potential. He is nowhere near as bad as people make him out to be. If he matures up a little, his talent is definitely there. This is only his 2nd year. My money is on him still lighting things up in years 3 and 4 and maybe even the rest of this year now that he was benched and several of his teammates (apparently) had talks with him this week. The dude is a physical freak. Maturity is his only real issue right now and that can be corrected.

Point of contention 1. Joe‘s comments were directed primarily at the PLAYERS. Something that has been commented by coaches and players regarding “the Alumni”. Everyone knows who these former greats are talking to.

It’s fine to detest any coach or Tomlin specifically, but do your research. In the past decade there has been only 5 teams in the AFC in the SB. NE, KC, DEN, BAL and….PIT. The first three multiple times each THIS DECADE. In the NFC there has been more parity, SEA, PHI, NYG, GB, CAR, ATL, SF, LAR.

i detest Belichick, for known reasons…he’s a cheater. But I acknowledged he wins games, albeit with help from cheating. All 10 other clubs in the AFC would kill for an appearance in the SB..and some of them have good coaches. “Competent”, “loaded rosters”, ”easiest divisions”….. a bunch of verbal excuses, because you just don’t like the coach. Its fine, we know you hate Tomlin.

Steelers went from a culture of winning to a culture of mediocrity in 10 years and apparently no one but the fans and former players can see it. Time for ownership and coaching staff to look at themselves and decide what being a Pittsburgh Steeler means in the 2020's. It used to mean tough, smash-mouthed football... winning seasons and success... pride. Running the ball down the opponent's throat and imposing our will on them. Steelers had leaders on both sides of the ball and in the coaching rooms -- and in the ownership suite too.
Now it's Tik Tok and Look-At-Me attitudes while a few labor away at football, not able to carry it all on themselves. The money is still rolling in so apparently on one is in a hurry to right the sinking ship.
I've been watching since the late 60's and I don't hardly recognize my team anymore...
This is the true problem and also the genius of the NFL. What other business models can anyone name where your worst product (in the NFL its the worst team) is still insanely profitable? We as steelers fans are spoiled that is very true whether we want to admit it or not. We have not had to go thru what teams like the lions or the jets or even the older browns have gone thru. The point is even those teams as bad as they have been have been VERY profitable. Living here in Dallas i watch it all the time with the cowboys. A team that has underperformed led by one of the richest owners with the most profitable team in the league still having epic meltdowns and failures. Jerry is not running that team any longer for money its for ego, the money is there. This is why Tomlin is still here, cause the steelers still rake in the cash and in my personal opinion Art just inherited a guaranteed money maker. He does not have the love or passion for this team like his father and grandfather had. Until his pocket book heats up and starts losing money then Tomlins seat will not get hot. NFL fans are the absolute worst about being fed up and doing nothing about it. We all talk a good game and then we tune in to the games, buy a jersey or some other NFL merch and ***** some more.

Yada yada yada. we are in the bottom half of playoff wins as a team the last 10 years. We aren't sniffing Super Bowls and we aren't even in the playoffs almost half the time. , We are in the process of missing the playoffs for the 5th time in the last 11 years We have had a HOF QB in his prime the entire time. The rot is from the top

Well, we're not the Lions. If they want to suck, that's on them. A new standard was set for this team long ago. A new culture. That blueprint is pretty clear. You either keep to that standard by staying the course or you fall back and become the Lions or any other team who hasn't done jack since black&white television. .

You are right,if the owner doesn't care about anything but$$$$ then it doesn't matter.

When you lose the entire culture of what we've known the Steelers to be all of our lives,it's damn hard to get that back. You would need someone with connections to that culture and numerous years of finding men to fit what you want.

So yeah, a bunch of people not just fans are really upset. It's like watching that torch that's been passed on for years die out.

Here's a couple of people that really loved the organization.

Yeah, I read this morning that Greene was less than pleased. Steeler legend opinions mean a whole lot more to me than any talking head anywhere. I have a feeling a few more of the greats will come out of the woodwork in the near future - especially if Ben leaves and can't prop the team up.

I hope so. They absolutely need their feet held to the fire if it's not coming internally.

I can't help but wonder what this guy thinks of the current state of affairs and "some" of the undisciplined players.

I think I can, Cliff Harris 2.0

And now we have this when we're losing....for a first down of all things. Don't get me wrong, we'll beat the **** somehow. If not them, the Chiefs - it just keeps happening year after year.

Mean Joe was on the Zach Gelb show and said he hopes big Ben comes back in 2022 and those that want him gone don't know crap about football. that should make some of your heads explode.

I wouldn't want to come back here unless the team was really close to championship caliber. You would need the defense to at least be at that level to have any chance.

Tomlin keeps turning over the reigns to offense to guys that aren’t worthy… I dont know the reason, he had connection to randy and he worked his way up but canada is journeyman and he has shown nothing here and I mean nothing. Give the offense to Big Ben and leave him alone… next season put a small committee together find a jewel of coach worthy of being a Steeler and hire him but till then give Big Ben the ball!

All starts at the top. If the owner doesn't care about the culture then it will not change. I don't see Art II being anything like his father or grandfather. I was ripped on another forum for saying this. However the truth remains that there has been an ongoing culture problem with this team and he Art II has done nothing to stop it or change it. He has let it ride and continues to enable it. That to me is very telling! Could i be wrong? Sure, i could be wrong but again the evidence points to me being correct or at least on the right path.
