F-I-R-E T-O-M-L-I-N!!!

He needs new sub-coaching and a willingness to understand there are smarter people in the room. He is smart, but hire people to do a job better than you can do it and trust them to do it.

Bill Cowher as a mentor.

Salute the nation
We've been asking for that for years, yet Tomlin doesn't change his stripes

I loved Mike Tomlin early on, and at times he is still an exciting coach, but he just doesn't have it when it comes to x's and o's, and it shows every time we hit the playoffs. The biggest problem is his ego is too fragile to hire people who could fix this shitshow and just let them fix it, and as such he's gotta go. I hope he and the team sit down, come up with a nice bye bye package, and send him, and his ****** OC and DC on their way. The only guy who stays in my mind is Danny Smith, because in my opinion overall he has been pretty good. Everyone else needs gone. Clean house and let's see what Will Howard has next year with a new HC, OC and DC. I don't think there are any Qb's worth talking about that will be on the board when we pick, so let's see what we have in house, if he sucks for a year, we get a high pick and really rebuild, if he doesn't it's a pleasant surprise and we build around him.

Rooney needs to have his exit interview with Tomlin sooner, rather than later. And, hopefully, one of them decides to make the change. I seriously doubt Rooney fires him - ever. It is still up to Tomlin to move on.

I guess I have little faith. They will let the fans complaints die down then it is business as usual.

I don’t think they care on having an improved model.

You are likely correct as I don't see Art II shelling out 16 million and getting nothing in return.
Perhaps Arthur Smith gets a new gig at HC somewhere and Austin is the scapegoat firing, Mike will simply replace them with those that he feels aren't as smart as him and will continue to run HIS O & D.

Everything you said is exactly how I feel. I liked Tomlin early on as well. It's not that I hate the man now, it's just that it's time. It happens in many careers.

I still love many things about Tomlin but he needs to retire. Go enjoy life and get away from all the hate. It has to wear on you. Go join Bill and go to the Hall.
He needs to retire to get away from all the hate?

Just a crazy statement for me.

He needs to leave because he isn’t good enough coach to lead this team to anything significant.

That man has an ego he doesn’t care about who dislikes him as a coach. Make no mistake about it that is what 99 percent care about winning significant playoff games.

Yeah that huge check has to be wearing on him.🙄

No he is wearing on the majority of us. You know the reason football exists.

**** what the fans like though right? Poor Mike.

Spare me with this bullshit.

Unfortunately, I agree. I seriously doubt Tomlin goes anywhere. We can only hope they do get rid of the DC and let him have a significant say in how the D is set up and play calling during the games. Tomlin needs to take 2 or 3 steps back on the D. We can then hope Fisher gets a HC job and they bring in a legit OC. Heck, bring in the former Miami head coach. They need to move quickly, though. They can't wait 3 or 4 weeks to start making moves. They truly need to start happening this week.

I have little faith that even if Arthur Smith and Austin are shown the door, that they will be replaced with anyone other than a carbon copy of every other Tomlin assistant.

If we had won the Super Bowl this year, I would still want to move on from Tomlin.

Superbowl? They can't even win a single playoff game...lol.

There's zero chance of them winning a superbowl. They can't build a team or a championship culture. They can only get overpriced highly used parts to help stay mediocre.

This is what always made my head all but explode through all these years.

They would win a game, and all of a sudden that week people who were still clinging on to hope would say "here we go!" when you knew deep down inside "no we don't...."

I knew damn well after watching the Texans defense the way they were playing at the end of the season that there was a heart attack coming to Pittsburgh last night.....

But that didn't stop all the bandwagoners and pundits from breaking out the Super Bowl songs last week.

It is called hope. I agree Tomlin hanging it up was the right thing to do but we may also regret it. Can we get lucky a fourth time hiring coaches. Regardless how it ended Tomlin never let us lose all hope. Not me at least.

He's not getting fired. He's going to walk away after deafening boos Sunday night and find another place where he's loved. This Con job has run it's course, and he knows it.

If the next hire goes nearly a decade without a playoff win and 5+ years of basically unwatchable offensive football all while setting record lows in offensive and defensive performances, would they be much different than what we've had? I mean, I guess 10-7 is winning football, but a vast majority of games have been dreadful to watch from an entertainment POV.

I don't know about anyone else but I am willing to put up with a few years of pain to hopefully get some draft picks and rebuild this thing.

If it rebounds quick I might actually get excited for the season and watching games again.

Start Will Howard and if that goes 3-14, we get a shot at Arch or whoever Cignetti coaches up next season.

The writing was on the wall when Ben had his elbow injury. The time since then, even when he came back, should have been about coaching up the next franchise QB a la Green Bay Favre/Rodgers/Love. Instead we got a sugar high from early Minkah and more useless Tomlinships.
