Fake punt

No shlt.

Good for you and Bill Cowher.

Timing, referring to the down/distance and location on the field. As previously explained ad nauseum.

Last second field goals = more pressure and nervousness from the kicker.
Fake punts from inside your own red zone needing 15 yards = more pressure and nervousness from the defensive back catching the ball.

It's really not all that difficult to understand, but I'm sure you'll still have something useless to add. Again.

Yes. If the same scenario had played out with the only difference that instead of it being the 1st quarter, it was 1 minute left in the 4th, leading by seven on your own 16 and 15 to go for a first, people would be livid.

Just cause a team gives you something does not always mean you take it... if a team, leading by 2 with 1 minute left lets a rb break free for the td... its better he kneel down at the 1, burn off the clock, and kick a chip in fg as time expires than risk the other team driving down and getting the go ahead td...

It was a great film pick up, but there should have been a stop sign on that play ... you gift wrapped a TD for them..

If the fake had been attempted at a time where maintaining possession was more critical albeit at a more favorable field position, then that would have made for a more high pressure scenario and also would have made it more predictable and less unexpected.

This wasnt a planned fake, it was a read and call.. they saw on tape that washington periodically adds an extra rusher late to the block on punt block tries. The players were told if they saw it, run it.

You probably wouldnt see this tactic used by washington past the 40.
There probably should have been some edict saying if they did it from 20 yards out or more with ten yards or less to convert, it was ok.. but not behind that ... give the D some sort of chance...
