Fire Tomlin.

to be clear, you think Ben could have came in but chose not to to see dobbs fail? I am lost in your thought process

What, you mean the same guy who openly questioned why the Steelers drafted a quarterback, essentially saying he better not get too comfortable, just yet? I don’t think that it was him wanting to see Dobbs fail necessarily, but it’s pretty well documented how much of a drama queen he is. I have no doubt they asked him multiple times throughout the second half “hey, Ben, you feel good to go?” And him saying “ehh I dunno, not yet guys.” Outside of him getting up only somewhat slowly after the sack, never at any point after did he show any ill effects. It certainly wasn’t on the td drive he engineered right before halftime, after he had taken that sack; or stretching around when he came back out in the third quarter; or the few minutes of warming up he did, only to stop abruptly; or the last two drives we had at the end of the game. I think it was more his ego at work, wanting to be the hero again. It almost worked, except our defense is a total ******* joke.

all of this sounds like a broken record. Rinse and repeat. How many empty seats will there be next Sunday? At the beginning of the season, you would think this next game was the Game of the Year, but fans are dumping tix to this game. I think the exodus will continue until there is a turn around and I wouldn't try holding your breath for that to come. Three bad losses that should have been W's and it only gets harder. It's very possible BAL sneaks into the PO and we are out in the cold. Is that enough to get the FO concerned and POd?

My guess is they do not renew the contract this offseason. And they make a decision after that. Tge Steelers seem to not renew coaches instead of firing them.

There will be a lot of empty seats much like most games this season. Fans are sick of the pathetic play and the league rules.

thank you for being clear. we will agree to disagree as I think Ben has more heart than any other qb we have every had

Roethlisberger was warming up, stretching and doing just about everything he could to let Tomlin know he was ready to go back in. Tomlin in the presser SAID he knew Ben was available, he chose to stick with Dobbs.

let's turn your hypothesis upside down. What if Tomlin, with HIS ego was hoping that Dobbs would play well and perhaps a few people would stop saying the ONLY way Tomlin can coach his way out of soggy tissue paper is if Ben saves his *** every game.

Why on God's earth would Ben only came back into the game "to be the hero"? Don't you think the guy, with a career 0-3 record in Oakland, would want to re-enter the contest with a lead and try to assure a win earlier on?

Tomlin clearly made this choice. He's the head coach. It's his decision to make, not Ben's.

I agree that Ben is a stud, but I saw Bradshaw get ******* killed numerous times in ways that today's QBs can't even imagine, and come back and win big games. And he did it all the time. And he always won the big games. Always.

To be fair, he had some of the greatest defensive players in history of the game. IMO, I'd take Ben but both were great. Chuck Noll is also slightly better than Tomlin ;)

LMAO, there were dumbasses on Twitter blaming Ben too, hahaha, It amazes me how a fan base can hate their HOF QB that helped win 2 rings.

Ron Cook: Mike Tomlin mismanages his way to a loss to lowly Oakland

Are we allowed to post articles from the PPG or we still can't? If you have a chance, go google what's in bold above and read it. Brutal.

“He probably could’ve come in a series or so sooner, but we were in a rhythm and flow of the game,” Tomlin said.

Rhythm and flow?

With Dobbs?

I must have been watching a different game.

Tomlin’s clock management at the end might have been even worse than his handling of Roethlisberger. You can say it didn’t matter because the Steelers still had a chance to force overtime thanks to a 35-yard gain on a spectacular hook-and-lateral play from Roethlisberger to James Washington to Smith-Schuster. Chris Boswell slipped as he attempted a 40-yard field goal and kicked the ball into his blockers. Of course, he did. It’s been that kind of rotten year for Boswell. “It’s terrible, what else do you want me to say?” Boswell said.

But the ending doesn’t change the fact Tomlin didn’t call a timeout — it would have been his second — after a 39-yard pass play gave the Raiders the ball at the Steelers 7 with 1:46 left. He allowed the clock to run down to 1:16 before an Oakland running play gained 1 yard and then down to 34 seconds before an incomplete pass. After an Oakland incompletion on third down, Tomlin finally called a timeout — with the clock stopped — with 25 seconds left to set his defense for fourth down. The Raiders won the game with a 6-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr to tight end Derek Carrier with 21 seconds remaining. Roethlisberger wouldn’t have had time to pull out the game if not for that hook-and-lateral miracle. That timeout that Tomlin took back to Pittsburgh with him could have left the Steelers with no chance.

“I wanted to keep a timeout for offense,” Tomlin said. “You guys know I kind of have that mentality about it. I wasn’t sure JuJu was going to get out of bounds on the subsequent possession. I just wanted to keep a timeout.”

Again, I don’t understand that mentality. An offense can stop the clock with an incompletion or even with a spiked ball. You can’t stop the clock on defense unless you use timeouts.

“I thought we had a chance to stop them [on fourth down],” Tomlin said.

Wrong again.

The Steelers defense has turned wretched. It gave up two long touchdown drives in the fourth quarter Sunday after collapsing in the second half of a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers a week earlier.

“Stunned, man” Cam Heyward said of this latest defeat.

Tomlin promised to “look at all aspects of what we’re doing … I have to rectify that, not only what we’re doing [but] what we’ve asked those guys to do. … We’re going to absorb the negativity that comes with our current position. We understand that we created it. It’s our job to fix it.”

It’s tough enough to win in the NFL.

It’s even harder when your coach sabotages you.

Couldn't be anymore accurate.

Lol I was honestly thinking the same thing and the scary thing is, I wouldn't put it past Tomlin to do this. Him not playing Ben just screams arrogance.

That has nothing to do with my post, which was a rebuttal to the statement that Ben has more heart than any QB we've ever had. I submit that that title goes to Terry.

I don't disagree, but our QB quit on his team today. I don't give a damn if nobody else agrees. If he was good enough to be out there at the end, he was good enough to play the whole game minus maybe one series. He got his drama moment, and because we are too stupid to cut an awful kicker he didn't even get that today. Season's over folks. We got gifted a Rats loss and choked against the worst team in the league. This team just isn't very good, you are what your record says you are. Time for some real changes, or we won't see another title for a long *** time. I have never been more pissed off after a game than this. This is embarrassing.. I'm sure all the real fans will tell me I'm wrong, and I'm good with it.
It wasn't Ben's idea to stay on the sideline. It was the idiot coach.

In all honesty, it was so completely ****** up I can see both sides. I was so damn angry watching him on the sidelines moving around, while we saw for sure that we have absolutely zero behind him on our roster. We HAD to win this game, anyone who believes otherwise is drunk, or needs a random drug test in their life. It was ridiculous and inexcusable that he wasn't in there. If the Rooney's don't ask him that question first thing in the morning they need to wake the Hell up and run the team better too. If he tells me that he kept him out for nothing in a meeting with a straight face, he's getting a don't leave anything here after the season talk from me. He'd be done.

Perfect post FAB802

Tired of Tomlin trying to be glib and not concerned when we lose because of his stupidity and stubborness.

I'm having a hard time understanding why some of you are having a hard time understanding why Ben didn't come in right away. Tomlin straight up said he held him out. Ben straight up said he was waiting on coach to send him in.
End of discussion. Tomlin is a complete ******* moron.

For me, the whole time it was about how he could just let that ******** keep him out if he truly wanted to play? I wish he would have just put his helmet on and played catch the entire time to take any doubt out of it. While I get tired of the selfish attitudes of the new age players, sometimes it has to be out there. The way they kept showing him on the sidelines stretching and all that it looked like he was fine to me. Being pissed off, I wasn't exactly in the give a damn about the cover up story mood after that debacle anyways.

This is hard for some to believe but you are supposed to listen and follow what a coach tells you to do. Swapping plays out is one thing. But when you are told to sit, you just can't do what you want.

I get it, but if he's that damn stupid I'm making sure everybody knows it's his decision for me not to be in there. Sometimes if you're that dude you have to draw a line in the sand, there's no way I'm just letting him **** my team's season up without me flipping out. Hell, they had won two games all season, it should have been over by half time.

He pretty much did in the locker room, said he felt fine, just waiting on Tomlin to give him the go.

Good, he needs a reporter to ask him WTF he was thinking and do it in a legit fashion. Not the soft way they usually deal with him.

And plus the majority of fans here hate Ben and the media too, they find every little parcel is **** to use to try to bash the guy on sports radio here, if he'd throw Tomlin under the bus, they would crucify him here.
