The dumbest thing is those same people were saying it was Ben holding Canada back, LOL.
Meh.......Tomlin actually held Canada back. Just as he now is holding back Smith. Sadly though.....We will never know Canada's full potential.

Alot of teams use more than 2 DL especially on early downs, rarely on passing downs. And it's not just 2 DL, it's constantly trying to cover the middle with ILB's and using your play making safety as a centerfielder, that's absolutely a Tomlin thing.
Not anywhere as much as they used to. The Bills lived in Nickel coverage for years. You need to watch more games outside the Steelers. The Ravens had to take their best safety out of the box and use him just like Minkah last year. The ones who do are basically a 4-3 team and they are doing the same thing we are but with slightly bigger ends than Watt and Highsmith.

I will own up to thinking that was a possibility. But at that point I was stupidly optimistic that Canada had half a brain. I was wrong about both I think. I am man enough to admit it.

Retardation at its finest.

I guess Julian Edlemen and Ben need to watch more football to, they have both said the Steelers defense has done exactly the same thing forever, all the way back to Timmons trying to cover Welker. The Ravens that kicked our ***? The Ravens that have won a couple playoff games recently?
I never said other teams play exclusively in a 4 DL set, or that we even need to. The difference is some teams actually bring in some size on the DLine on short yardage, or vs great running teams, we rarely do. Those teams that use 265 lb DE's also actually blitz, and try to find mis-matches, something we never do. And there's no argument you can make in this case, just go back and look at how bad our defense has gotten crushed in the past 5 or 6 playoff games.

In the past yes, currently not as much. The Eagles didn't blitz at all. I agree we need more and better d-lineman but we are not doing much of anything out of the norm for the league. We just were nowhere near deep enough on the interior of the defensive line. The teams that do well with this system are at least 2 deep at every interior position. We were not. We saw a lot less LB on WRs compared to past years. We also had an offense late that couldn't keep the defense off the field and that exasperated the depth problems on the d-line.

No the Eagles didn't blitz because they didn't need to, if their front 4 wasn't getting home they would've started to blitz, we rarely get away from what we do, Watt is doubled, triple team if you count the chip most of the 2nd half of the season, and we did nothing to offset that, they're using a TE to chip, then the RT and alot of time the RG or RB to double after the chip, that's 3 guys committed to the left side of our defense, well then blitz from the other side where there's an obvious numbers advantage, do something different.

We have real tactical geniuses as coaches. That's the fatal flaw with this team. Which I've been saying for a good number of years now.

They'll be mediocre until that's addressed. There's no evidence whatsoever to say otherwise. None.Nein.Zero.Ziltch.Nadda.

What annoys me the most is when they say they're chasing championships. The **** you are. You're chasing your tail and mediocrity with the highest paid defense in the league, and that's not much better than the offense, probably worse when you get ran over and ***** slapped consistently.

But the guy still has a pile of people defending him and he still gets coach of the year votes. Minkah's first few seasons here, he was awesome, making plays all over, so what does Tomlin do, makes him the highest paid safety, then takes one of the best playmaking safeties in the NFL and just plays him at centerfield, you could've paid someone half that to do what we ask him to do.

Tomlin not living in his fears. No one dictates what we do.

To be fair, this is the Fire Tomlin thread...STILL! Still not even close to Dri's thread...pathetic

The Archer thread was E-P-I-C. I can’t remember specifically, but wasn’t that thread about a 167 pages worth of entangled crap………….

There was some very good knowledgeable material with-in the thread, but mostly simple crap.

Salute the nation

There can't be enough Fire Tomlin threads.
I guess the Tomlin lovers didn’t notice…. This is the fire Tomlin thread.
Did you know Tomlin has never, ever had a losing season?

The Dri thread is nothing compared to the thread in politics forum still going.

It just appears that way because “fire Tomlin” shows up in every thread.

Well, not every thread. It just appears that way as well.
Lo and behold , just went over to check out the What The Experts Are Saying thread.
Courtesy of Lloyd. Who would have guessed.
And Clown-lin can meet him everyday for an hour. What a great QB he will produce with those meetings.

So theoretically, if we combined all the " Fire Tomlin" themed threads, would the bandwidth be so great that it destroyed the site? And if so, does the daily new thread on the subject actually save the site from a monster many times the size of the covid or Dri archer threads?
Inquiring minds want to know🤣
