Thing with Shades is that his floor is pretty high but his ceiling isn't much higher.
He's going to get 8 or 9 wins every year at worst. At best he's going to get 10 or 11 wins and a wildcard playoff loss.
i.e. mediocrity.
 
This is probably a lousy analogy, but maybe not. Pretend that you're the owner of a NASCAR entry, and every race your driver finishes 12th at best.
While he may be consistent, he's only bringing in 10% of that top prize money. Sooner or later that owner will say, Ricky Bobby, we're going to go in
different direction.

Tomlin built his team for regular season success(8 and 9 wins per). Not so much in the post-season area though. It is what it is. Rooney has bought into it also sadly.

And with the Browns, Bengals, and Lamar in his division, that's pretty much 4 guaranteed wins right there.

Rooney is “peaking” at the money in for this franchise. He is satisfied making ahead of the means available.

The NFL has peaked in the USA as for revenue / future revenue. Thus the push for foreign games (screw the fans)

The crack has just started, another season of this BIG change that Tomlin claims to be needed………… AND YET
Not much change has happened.

Fans will be frustrated even sooner, 1/2 way into the season you may be hearing the chants. If he doesn’t win a playoff game this season……… all hell FANdom will break out.

Slow down there DIC.....let's not get ahead of ourselves. Talking about...PLAYOFFS and all. Let us first worry about getting a Tomlinship. Afterwards we can talk about winning a playoff game. :LOL:

One has to be able to dream, in this case my dream was the failure and replacement of the “Tomlin”.

My reality is 20-0 until proven otherwise. There is a long ways to go to this type of fruition, but one can dream.

Reality dictates that this is every season for the last 10 years or so.
 
Not a Colin Cowherd fan but wow.....

"They are the STALE-ers now".

I think this team can compete & legitimately even in the playoffs.

It’s the scheme that really seems to be holding us back. Well, that and coaching.

I believe we have talent on our team. It is the HC's job to put them in the best situation for them to win and succeed. That is an area of issue with Tomlin. Philosophy and scheme here under Tomlin are not of the standard of old.

To add to your point, just go back and look at some 90's or early 2000 Steeler tapes, those Cowher teams had something these Shade teams just don't have. You can really see it in the OL play. Shades just can't get the OL to play like that, Accept with Munch as OL coach. But Shades chased him off.

I agree with a lot of what you say. But your hate for Tomlin borders on crazy

'Talk" is all we can do about winning a playoff game, unless Clown-lin gets excessively lucky. His game plans are so crude, so simple, so lacking - any real team with a winning record can dismantle this team, top to bottom.

The ****** thing is, you can't talk about anything else when it comes to this team because of the **** show Tomlin turned it into.
Everyone wants a better Dline, let's be like Philly etc., but Tomlin rarely uses more than 2 DL, so our DL is always at a size and physical disadvantage. Everyone wants this QB or that QB, but Tomlin will never allow the QB to have full control, everyone wants this system or that system, but Tomlin has to control everything, it'll always be his conservative, never use the middle of the field offense. Or the defensive system, no blitzing, allow Watt to just get double and triple teamed every game, make Minkah the highest paid safety in the NFL and tell him to stand 20 yards downfield in the middle.

Most of the league rarely uses more than 2 DL today. In reality we are using a 4 DL front but Watt and Highsmith are the extra 2 DL. This isn’t a Tomlin thing it is a league thing. The problem hasn’t been the use of two DL. It is still effective against the run when Cam is in there and rested. The issue is we need more than Cam and Benton we need at least two more guys good enough to hold the point when we have to rotate Cam out. The difference last year was huge with and without Cam against the run.

Alot of teams use more than 2 DL especially on early downs, rarely on passing downs. And it's not just 2 DL, it's constantly trying to cover the middle with ILB's and using your play making safety as a centerfielder, that's absolutely a Tomlin thing.
