Flores going to the Vikings

I think everyone knew he was leaving. Pittsburgh isn’t the football destination it used to be.
They had an opportunity to step up to the plate but failed with their ho hum approach. They are slow at just about everything they do. If I focused in I would be annoyed.

Disappointed, but expected that he left. We are bringing back the same staff, minus Stewart and Flores, with Flores being the highest-pedigree assistant. I'm still holding out hope they hire some consultants/special assistants for both sides of the ball.

Can't say I have a lot of confidence that they will.

Fuuuuuudge!

Stillers left with Canada, Austin and Smith. Nothing on the coaching tree.... it is barren, bereft of leaves.

Wow. Tomin's tree has some fruit. Kept the guy they shouldn't have and lost the guy they needed. Awesome start to the offseason. You have to make tough decisions in this game. Putting Flores in at DC and moving Austin to another role is pretty ****** easy
I have continuously beat the dead horse about offseason bad decision making. This is a prime example. Not making the necessary moves to push the team in the right direction.

Canada minus Flores = fail

Dats arithmetic.

😁

Evidently Flores felt three DCs were too many, Himself / Austin / Tomlin. Flores is the best of the three and yet he is gone.

This (other examples as well) goes to show that Coach Tomlin is challenged in the assistant hiring department.

Well so long as Heyward, Minkah and especially T.J. play it probably matters minimally and if one is out they are screwed anyhow.

I think Flores will be highly missed. I think the Steelers dropped the ball here. Flores helped on both sides of the ball. I can understand him wanting to have more control though, but I think the steelers should have made him DC and made Austin some type of position coach.

Flores isn't a Tomlin protege. He was a one year hire from ANOTHER coaching tree out of Florida.

This is just another instance of Tomlin not wanting to be upstaged by someone on his staff. Tomlin can PRETEND to not want to stop someone from moving on, all while getting them out of the picture.

And for the idiots that want to call Flores a Tomlin coaching tree “branch”, you are as stupid as you sound.

That sucks. It sure would be nice if we had some top assistants. They really need someone on O in case Canaduh craps the bed and needs replaced after 4 to 6 games. I certainly wouldn't give him any more time than that. The O better be moving the ball and putting up points (TD's and not FG's) or he needs to go before the season is a lost cause again.

So we kept.Terrell Austin who was run out of Detroit and Cincinnati as their DC instead of promoting Flores to DC. Stupid!
I would have promoted Flores and let Austin move on.

THIS big time.

We keep a way less than (Austin) and let a way more than (Flores) leave,

I’m beginning to hear Ron Burgundy more and more on his no championship while current coach is here.

Obviously I root for our team and current staff with their decisions, all to succeed.

Once you have been a head coach in the nfl, you simply should never be associated with another coaching tree… you are your own guy

I think once established under a coach, that is the tree they belong to. Should they move on, the tree balance stay on the original trunk.

O’Canada is a good example, should he leave, his branch has been established Whereas Austin’s branch already exists elsewhere.

YOU and I both know that won’t happen, hell they stayed with him when he was 2-6. Finished very low in offensive rank, and here he is as our OC for 23’.
