Fourth Round Pick - Calvin Austin

Hill is 5'8", 185 lbs.

Interesting. A site I looked at had him at 5'10". I thought that was tall for him. Either way, Austin would need to add 5 to 10 lbs of muscle.

Who is our WR coach and is he legit? Now that we have all these young WR's with no leader in the locker room, the coach will be even more important.

Hasn't he been injured a lot? Maybe not contact hits but has still missed a bunch of games it seems.
I'm not sure his injuries have been due to his lack of size.

I guess Tomlin has once more ignored what this teams needs, Our line is terrible, defense did not stand up last year, So we choose a QB that everyone but Tomlin and Colbert question, two receivers one we guess Tomlin wants as a return man.. Most of the time we fair catch, fumble the ball or allow to bounce past us. Would you love to see this board Tomlin has made up.

I'm not high on the offensive line, but come on. The Steelers signed James Daniels and Mason Cole for the offensive line. Which lineman are you taking in the first round? All of the top tackles are gone along with the top two guards. I like Linderbaum as a prospect but as the prospect went along, it was apparent they weren't going to take an undersized center two years in a row.

They had two viable receivers (one in the final year of his deal) on the roster. Wide receiver is one of the most valuable positions in the league and you legitimately need to go four deep. They drafted two highly skilled prospects with speed. One has potential to be a very good No. 1 and the other has YAC ability. Wide receiver was absolutely a huge need and they addressed it in a big way.

Good points. It's also important to note that keeping veteran WRs is becoming harder and harder because they're becoming so overvalued. You're not going to be able to have much quality at other positions if they take up so much cap space. Best to stay young at the position.

Edit - Interesting to note that two of the more recently successful franchises, Green Bay and KC started this trend that Tennessee and Baltimore have followed.

It had more to do with there not being a huge demand for a QB by the teams that drafted ahead of us in the first. Plus from an evaluation standpoint I believe Tomlin and Colbert knew Pickett better than those other teams.

So we now have a 5'7" guy who plays bigger than his size in Austin and a 6'4" guy who plays smaller than his size in Claypool.

Seriously, the Steelers have a diverse group of receiving options right now with a potential No. 1 wide out with Pickens. I'm still not sold the offensive line is good enough, but this team has a young group of skill position players for Trubisky and Pickett.
Definitely would liked to see a RT drafted. I guess they like their depth this year.

I think inside they will be fine. Outside gets my question mark.

Or maybe, just MAYBE - stay with me here - improve the offensive line?

Naaaaaahh. Never mind.
Because they didn't address it at all in FA right? And the season starts tomorrow right?

Designated midget in the ongoing quest for a kick returner?

Could be the start of a legend and a chance to surpass the Dri Archer thread post count.

If this fuckersnot trips on a blade of grass 1/2" taller than regulation I'll go apeshit banananananasssss.

I thought it was illeagal to toss midgets in the NFL ?

(sarcasm for those that need it)

Apparently the rats were primed to take him before the Steelers picked him.

Let's trade him for their drafted DT, include a 5th rounder if needed

So they drafted from the University of the Lollipop Guild

Yeah it is all over the radio here about how the Steelers stole one from the ravens.

The Ravens had a pretty damn good draft. at least we got this guy.

Turn about is fair play the rats and bungles have snagged picks in the draft process that rumors had us picking.

Im fine with him now… i hope he does well…. However, if he is as useless as most of their itty bitty projects have been, i swear I am stopping by the southside facility on my way to work one day and stapling a cutout of a dude holding his hand at 5’9” off the ground with a caption saying “ you must be this high to be drafted by the Steelers “ somewhere noticeable

Not sure becoming optimistic about this pick because the Ravens wanted the guy..

Afterall...the Ravens past history of drafted top-flight wideouts is very questionable..

I didnt get to see many of the Memphis games last year, but the Memphis fans that I know say the dude is really good.

I love hearing what the fans think as a group. Adds another perspective.👊
