Unflappable! Learns from mistakes, seems to love the pressure, operates well under the night lights.

Has the intangibles, functions well in frigid weather, wears his hat backwards. I know it early, but to me he passes the eye test, I'll give him some years prove me wrong.

Off Season: Draft and coaching will make changes that will help the team improve.

He has had two phenomenal game winning drives. Those are great confidence boosters. But we need him to put 2 or 3 more of those on a game. Still he was clutch when we needed clutch. Should be an end of year the team can grow and build from though in the offseason.

He’s gonna be a problem for years to come.

Pretty good for a rookie qb he shows all the traits you want and need. This team and this game reminds me of last year: bad play calling puts us in a hole for 3 quarters and a HOF qb brings us back and we win it in the end!!! KENNY F*@KING PICKETT!! ya baby!!! We just seriously need an OC and oline coach now and this offense is set. GOSTEELERS!!!

Still need more consistency and points, but he's clearly progressing from where he was earlier in the season and showed pretty much everything you want in a QB in these two recent game-winning TD drives.

I'm not sure I trust the coaching staff to develop him to his full potential.

Though I don't like it, it's looking more likely Canada will be back next season with the improvement both Pickett and the running game have shown and him having another year on his contract.

I just worry about the concussions
Again we think of concussions like old school major concussions… these days they hold guys out for “ potential concussions” so it’s not quite the same… Troy gave himself a bunch of hard core concussions… half the stuff the league monitors have freaked about since the second Tua incident has been the kind of stuff on par with the type of concussion that you get from heading a soccer ball … not the whiplash - knocked out type… not trying to minimize concussions or anything, but diagnosing them is more or less a guessing game in most cases, and their symptoms are widespread and often overlap with other things… So they are easily misdiagnosed…. Unless he starts having major symptoms apart from the hits he probably will be fine long term… old school guys took a hell of a lot of slobberknockers and played through them… that was unhealthy for sure, but still most avoided long term effects

If you read further a zillion other fans mocked this dude for that statement and Collinsworth for comparing him to Mahomes… so its safe to say this was a minority opinion lol

Yeah im starting to think he will get a year 3 here…

Look, like I’ve said for a while here… what a rookie qb does in his rookie season isn’t really indicative of what his career will be like… there simply isn’t any consistent correlation to anything… i can say that many great qbs didn’t have two 4th quarter comebacks in their rookie season, much less two last minute touchdown throws to win a game… it is kind of a shame that they messed up the transition to him so badly though… maybe if he starts sooner we see this progress earlier… maybe if he starts a little later, after they got the Oline at least semi respectable, he doesn’t get as pounded and lose some of his edge vs the blitz for a minute or two…

In any case, next season is going to get really interesting

In fairness to Collinsworth, that was a Mahomes-esque play, though.

Overall, Pickett is proving to be a better athlete and improviser than I thought he was coming out of Pitt. I knew he was "mobile", but it's more than I expected with some of the longer runs and ability to throw accurately while off balance.

I've seen everything I need to see out of KP to know he can play in the NFL.

The only thing I want to see now, is can he throw more than one TD a game?

I want to see him become prolific and an issue to scheme against. Until he puts together a 3/4 TD game in the air, I'm not sure who he is as a franchise QB?

Pickett became the first rookie since at least the 1970 merger to throw a go-ahead TD in the final minute of regulation in back-to-back games, according to Elias Sports Bureau research.

I didn't read those, but then you have to factor in the intense Steeler hate and denial that comes with it. Pickett has a lot more to prove before he can wrest them from the grip of denial!

With the current OC that would be difficult.

Also with the running game working on all cylinders there aren't as many drives. By the way I love the ground and pound offense

I agree on the OC needing replaced, no question.

The OL coach has brought these guys quite a ways this season. I think they abandoned the **** philosophy of O’Canada’s needs at making his **** scheme work.

If a solid upgrade can be brought in the YES but otherwise let him (OL coach) keep working.

If Canaduh called those plays during the game, we would. If he would let him audible to Pickens when he has man coverage, we would see even more. They have him with one or two reads but usually, the first option is something within 5 yards of the LOS just like they kept doing with Ben last year until Ben said FU later in games to bring us back to 6 or 7 wins all in spite of Canaduh.

We won't see that until Canaduh is gone. Even last night with a great run game, they did very little with throwing deep or in the middle of the field again. Pickens was an afterthought and Gunner was getting way too many snaps. Canaduh has to go, period!

I’m not a Canada fan by any means. His offense is so vanilla and the details and nuances seem to fall through the cracks. That said we miss open guys too much. I’m not making excuses because I truly believe if everything was perfect with this offensive scheme it would still only rank out of the top 10. But last year Roethlisberger lined up behind possibly the worst offensive line this team ever fielded. Green imo was the worst center we ever started. Haven’t lost all hope on him being a serviceable depth guy. We just threw him to the wolves, playing a new position, coming from Illinois. Just wasn’t ready. This year the line has improved significantly and Pickett has tightened up his mistakes. And I am fine with that with him being a rookie. Throw a touchdown every other game as long as he only throws an interception every 4th or 5th game. He can grow from that. But I see protection fails where he should be adjusting at the LOS. Canada can’t tell him to adjust the protection because his mic is cutoff 15 seconds before the play clock goes 0. Spotting blitzes needs to be a priority for him this offseason. Because he also missed some throws because he didn’t throw to the man the blitzer was supposed to cover. Example last night DJ is lined up on Hamilton. Immediately that should resonate winning matchup for us and he should take a mental note. Then presnap Hamilton shades over to blitz. That should have been a cue that DJ is going to be open immediately at the snap. DJ I believe reads the defense correctly because the other receivers on the side look to run a go and a post(not sure they exited the screen too quickly to be certain) and DJ runs an out. Can’t be certain but that in a lot of offenses is an adjustment at the LOS. And DJ immediately after getting cleared out by the other receivers turns his head looking for the ball. KP dump to the right side instead narrowly escaping the sack. I’m not sure he ever realized Hamilton was blitzing. Anyways if he throws into the blitz like you are supposed to he hits DJ which would easily been a first down and possibly a big gain if he makes someone miss. That’s not Canada’s fault. Now I do believe wholeheartedly that Pickett is an academic of the game. I think he studies a lot of film and improves from mistakes made. Which is literally all you can ask from a rookie. They’re going to make mistakes. But if they can learn from them then they’ll be ok.

After all that I still hope the Steelers fire Canada. I really want an innovator at offensive coordinator. Someone who has imagination and vision. Canada just isn’t that guy. He understands the basic route combinations and blocking schemes so he’s a good stepping stone in the development of KP. But next year I want a guy who pushes KP every single game, every quarter and every play to get better. And listening to KP I honestly think that’s what he wants. He wants to be pushed. He wants to always be improving.
