Just caught this on my news feed. Wow. Just days before the celebration

We delivered a few smallish gifts the other day to all the neighbors. The elderly lady living diagonally from us baked us several things. But while she was out shopping she spotted a Franco Harris bottle of sauce they are promoting, and picked it up for me knowing I was a diehard fanatic. Ol girls dad was over from next door talking yesterday about how there will be a Friday hour long special on TV and also how this week they will talk about the famous play.

Yeah then I wake up to seeing that posted on Google and came here.

One of my favorite players of all time, I am sure that will be echoing throughout the fanbase. But even more important was this man was genuinely a good man. Many things over the decades have been reported supporting this belief.

Yeah a sad day for me, and in the bigger picture a sad day for Steelernation.

My best wishes go out to his family and friends. We lost a great one....

😔

That's the only article I can find on him dying. I am hoping it's not true. Damn! I loved Franco growing up. He used to be the ambassador for the MS Readathon when I was a kid. He was one of the reasons I read anything when I was a kid. I wanted his autographed pictures.

RIP Franco! One of the truly best on and off the field.

I am beyond shocked and saddened. Especially that it happened this week. I got to meet him twice, very nice man.

If you google it, everyone is carrying it now.

I was never the biggest Franco fan growing up.
I don't hate him, just liked other Steelers of that era more/better.

But when he walked out of the tunnel at SBXL after being introduced, and pulled out the Terrible Towel and started twirling it.....?
I POPPED!
Thanks for the memories.
Sucks this happened days before the anniversary and all the pomp and circumstances he made possible.

I simply don't know what to type. He seemed immortal. The timing for this is off the hooks. So sad. He was more to Pittsburgh than just an ex-Steeler. RIP Sir. Many are fans today because of you.

I'm absolutely GUTTED! He was one of my All-Time Favorite Steelers.......This Saturday's game will be bittersweet and very hard to watch. I have a signed football by Franco in a case in my bedroom on my dressser that he personalized for me. All I can say is after this...they better retire Terry Bradshaw's jersey soon before he passes away! There are more important things than football. Franco Harris I'll really miss this guy....he was an inspiration and loved by the entire Steeler Nation. SO SAD!
