If you remember that era, lived through it, they all hit hard. But Franco. He was my first favorite player. Thank you, Franco. God Bless you and your family.
RIP Franco.
Sad news; i hope that his family can handle this stress at this time.
I think the Steelers, Steeler Nation and the NFL will pay tribute Saturday to this incredible athlete, good man and the play that demarcated the Steelers era of excellence.
My condolences to his family / friends / fan-base / organization.
Franco was one of the many favorite STEELERS Players of mine.
I remember as a kid some of my friends saying he was chicken by stepping out of bounds. I reminded them that he lived to play another play and also reminded them when their favorite RB got injured and was out.
Franco took on the battles that he chose worthy, not just on the field of play but also in the field of life. He mad a HUGE difference off the field and many a many have benefited for that. A true mark of the man.
An Ambassador of the City of Pittsburgh, and of the STEELERS Organization. Don’t remember a sour word from in either during his playing days or after in his “Life’s Work”. If there was a true life HERO, this man was it.
Thank You FRANCO for the many a many goodness’ you have delivered.
Man I am just shocked. Very sad news. I did not want to see this today. R.I.P peace to the guy my dad called The Big Man....If the Steelers lose that game on Christmas Eve it would be a complete shame...
Franco was the first jersey in the house because he was my Dad's favorite player. Being from Penn State also solidified his love for Franco as we lived close to Penn State.
I met Franco once working a Pepsi event at Sam's Club in the Pittsburgh area the week before the 05' Super Bowl. Franco was there signing autographs and I had a Steelers Football and a Seattle Seahawks hat from my business partner at the time. Pit was playing Seattle in the Superbowl as well.
I handed him the football and he signed it, then I handed him the Seattle hat and he took a second and looked at me. I said you are my friend's favorite player and he was a Steelers fan, but became a Seattle Seahawks fan when you played in Seattle. He signed the hat, looked at me and said, it's time for your friend change back.
If this team can’t get up Saturday and straight up kill the raiders. I’m talking throttle them so bad that Carr cries on the field again then they aren’t worth a god damn. Mr Harris
A genuinely humble man, I'm lost for words. Met him years ago at Phoenix Children's Hospital where he was visiting the kids.
Sad day not only for the Steelers and the NFL, but for everyone, we lost a good man today.
Franco Harris, the Hall of Fame running back whose heads-up thinking authored “The Immaculate Reception,” considered the most iconic play in NFL history, has died.
Lump in my throat as I type. Just shocked. As many others have said, a great player but even greater man off the field. Todays divas could learn a HUGE lesson from this man’s example. RIP and god be with his family. While we all mourn as we celebrate a football play, remember a family has lost a loved one days before the holiday that celebrates unconditional love.
I was an excited 12 year old in North Hills when the play happened..
When my friends and I played football in the back yard ( tackle of course) we pretended to be Steelers and we all wanted to be Franco.
Godspeed 32!
