Free Agency

I’d offer JuJu a new contract to be my #2 but not some overpriced deal.
I would offer new contracts to Witherspoon, Killibrew and Edmunds none of which should be too high. If Edmunds balks, let him walk.
Ben is done and will and should retire.
Chucks stinks as well as Turner,
Ray Ray needs to return the pictures back to Tomlin and move the hell on. You have a better player on PS Anthony Miller Tomlin never used.
Washington doesn’t deserve how he’s been treated here and I hope he finds a better home. He will do fine elsewhere!
Spend money and draft for the OL and DL and bring in Mitch Trubisky to be our QB. And please try and find a #1 receiver that this team hasn’t had since little chest was here.

Juju is a complimentary receiver. He is not a number one but would thrive in a system where he has a star receiver opposite of him. He would do great in Green Bay opposite of Devonte Adams or in Kansas City with Hill. I wouldn’t turn him away if he didn’t ask for number one money but a fair contract for both sides.
sure, but "fair for both sides" is totally subjective; who's to say what's "fair"? Maybe he thinks that getting #1 money is fair, since he was willing to sacrifice (in his mind) a year of his career to come back and play with Ben one more time.

So, since Ben said that Green would be a great guard when he was asked about his play at center (lol), who is going to be available at C in FA? Or do we look to draft one?

Hassenauer is a FA, so I'd go and grab the Rats Center.
all that running they do, dude's gotta be at least decent. and decent is better than what we got all season.

it's adorable how much any talk about replacing Tomlin gets you all lathered up. give it a rest, it's going to be a point of contention here, and among probably just about ANY Steelers fan website/message board until the day he's gone.

I have a variety of these now to keep myself entertained as I beat the dead horse of yinz beating the dead horse.

i hear AB is available, but act fast because you only have about 30 seconds to make a decision..

I feel last season, he (Smith-Schuster) learned that he wasn’t going to get number 1 money. Not from anyone. Whatever number 2/3 money will be would be fair IMO. But that’s just me.

Edmunds as I think SS free agent crop isn't stellar and Edmunds has improved his game. Witherspoon I would throw a two year deal at too.

I see nothing from edmunds that would make me want to keep him.
Then you haven't been watching him very close this year. He has made significant progress. Still has room to improve but the light is coming on. Getting rid of him now just wastes all the years of development and creates a new hole to fill.

I watch him. He takes bad angles and is out of position more often than not. Like I said earlier, he is normally walking up to the pile after the play is over. I'm not sure where he would rank among safeties, but I'm confident he wouldn't be in the top 20. If someone is running free on our defense it's a high probability that either 55 or 34 is in coverage.

1. If we sign JuJu, Steelers have a mentor-to-mentee, JuJu/Diontae/Claypool ultimate TikTok competition to "become the next Antonio Brown!". JuJu is quite an addition by subtraction, folks.

2. Witherspoon looks damn good. And he seems quite emotional so, if we don't offer him pretty good money then he might just walk! I give him Haden's $$. Let Haden sign here for less after every other team has discovered that he's lost a step.

They might be able to get JuJu back for what they paid him this year. He might have to do another prove-it contract or they can sign him to 3 or 4 years at around $8 million per. That is nowhere near No. 1 money and they know what they are getting with him. If they do sign DJ and JuJu, that pretty much means Claypool won't be getting a contract as if he improves like I suspect he will, he will be looking for and getting more money than JuJu.

For all you bring Ben back dudes...Did you watch Bens last game....123 yards on 46 Attempts ?
That’s over 2.5 yards an attempt
5 wide *******
Throw every down and go for every 4th down and it’s the unstoppable plan
SB!!!

just my opinion, but if we can get Ben for another year (though I think he's retiring and not coming back), you spend in FA and bring in some good OL, and do so without giving a **** about people's feelings or draft status.

then, you target a Matt Corral or Pickett and move up if you can get him... as long as the price isnt too much, and assuming we're drafting 17th.

Looking at who might take a QB:
6. Carolina
8. NY Giants
9. Washington
10. Atlanta

Though, I do not see either of those as being worth a first round pick. Then again, I didn't think Mac Jones was worth a 1st, either.

It's entirely possible we take a guy like Desmond Ridder or Carson Strong in the 2nd (and that is currently their value).

Good insight and I think if BEN actually was shown the comittment to bettering the OL & DL, He'd consider another year. I'm sure he would have to see the proof & not just the talk. I'd at least venture the conversation with him and see if he has the desire.

Salute the nation

FOr all of you hating on JuJu he was being more mature this season before his injury. People do grow up. His talent and blocking are absolutely worth trying to resign him if he is willing to check his ego and be the 2 or 3.

what should we do? Cap will go up, so we'll not be hard-pressed against it, but many teams will also have a lot of breathing room.

Looking at our roster, we'll also have some guys going into FA. Chuks is a Free Agent, as is Juju. Do we bring them back, or move a different direction? If you're GM who do you target? A list of free agents is below. We normally target the tier below the top free agents, so some guys will be automatically eliminated.

Our FAs:
Ben, Haden, Juju, EBron, Witherspoon, Trai Turnstile, Edmunds, Killebrew, Washington, Dobbs, McCloud, Maulet, Ballage, Okorafor

I'd offer Juju, Edmunds, Witherspoon, Maulet and Chuks respectable contracts that do not break the bank.
Juju is just 25, Edmunds is 25, Witherspoon is 26, Maulet is 28, and Chuks is just 24

I sniff around Ronnie Harrison and if I can sign him before Edmunds, all the better

My priority would be Witherspoon. I think after that JuJu gets an offer but probably not what he’s hoping. 20M-2 years. Probably a prove it kind of deal. The rest I let test free agency. I’d see what Edmunds and Chuks want then say we can talk if you can’t get that elsewhere. If they come back cheap then great. If not then not a big loss. I think Ballage can come back after the draft cheap. Same with Dobbs.

For free agents.

QB- Trubisky and Mariota are my priority. But whoever signs for a 1 or perhaps 2 year incentive laid contract. Minimal guaranteed money and pretty basic salary. I’m talking 3-4 million between guaranteed and salary. But I would be fine with tons of incentives. 3000 yards 3 million and 100k per 100 yards there after. 100k per td. 1 million for throwing 20 tds with 10 or less ints. Make it if they win the job and play well they get paid. If they’re the backup they get paid like a backup.

WR-
If we can’t get JuJu back I’d look at Zach Pascal. Very similar body and athleticism. Probably come in a bit cheaper as well. I’d also see if we could get Jamison Crowder for a reasonable price. I’d prefer him over Ray Ray.

OL-
Not usually a lot of high caliber LT waiting in the wings in free agency but I feel Eric Fisher has played well this year. Not great but way better than Moore. Fisher signed a 1-year 6 million dollar deal. I’d be fine sweetening the pot to a 3-year deal in the 18-24 million range. Then a guy many on here wanted last year. Morgan Moses. He signed for a tick over 4 million so again I’d sweeten the pot and go 3 years 15 million. I’d make it possible for both to be cut after one year as both are on the wrong side of 30. But should sure up the tackle positions. I’d kick the tires on Bozeman center Baltimore but I don’t see him coming in at a reasonable price. I’d offer her 7-8 million a year over 5 years though.

DL-
I’d try to sure up the interior a little. Austin Johnson is still reasonably young and probably reasonably priced.

ILB- Anthony Walker jr. I think could be had for a reasonable contract and would at the very least push Bush.

S-
I liked Xavier Woods since the draft. I actually drafted him in my mock along mock. Sportstrac says he’d sign for 4 years 17 million and I’d be ok with that.

Hassenauer is a FA, so I'd go and grab the Rats Center.
all that running they do, dude's gotta be at least decent. and decent is better than what we got all season.
He’s a ERFA so we have him for one more for sure. This last game vs the rats probably means a ton for him. If he plays like he did last week I could see the Steelers moving Green to guard and rolling with JC next year. If that happens I could see Moore moving to RT.

I’d rather sign JuJu and move Claypool for a draft pick. Young, physical receiver with decent NFL tape may fetch a # 2 and I’d be all over that.

How many of these guys would be better or much better if coached up?

Start with getting a legit coaching staff, and see what we have.
