Game Balls, Game Goats, & FU's.......................vs Bears

If he'd had control, he wouldn't have lost the ball the moment he hit the ground. Easy enough to see. In super-slow motion, it looks like he's "managing" the ball but in full speed, he clearly doesn't have control.

Ben GOT that ******* 1st down. By the time his knee hit, the ball was definitely past the line of gain. The ref took at least a half yard, maybe more away from him.

On the first TD to Muth, Washington was being mauled by his defender. Ben wanted to go to him at the 1st level, but he was being held. No call even though Washington's jersey was clearly stretching as he was held.

Griese was just being a complete *****. Sure Fields took a couple hits. He's a rook. If he chooses to slide late or to stay in bounds, he's going to get trucked and he hasn't earned that "judgement call" yet from the officials. Now Brady? Rodgers? They're going to get those calls. But not a ******* rookie who's too dumb to get down or get out of bounds.
That ball placement was terrible he clearly passed the line no doubt

Game balls Big Ben maybe ones saying he cannot throw needs to watch how many times he was sacked and knocked down with a O line that did not show up. His one to take a college pun on a rope. Our receivers cannot get open what do you want him to do stand and take a beating. Took the team 555 yards for the win
Najee who evert was on every play but the TD, line did nothing for him all his desire.
Pat Friermuth, total wants to be on the field and makes plays and gives it his all to get any yards afterwards
Washington who made two nice plays when needed
Heyward for one heck of interception
Watt who gives it his all but get wore down with no depth
The Boz what else can you say
Goats
secondary, just poor coverage
Defense second half, 21 point allowed in fourth quarter
Tomlin that can not change anything at half except what flavor ice cream and cupcakes he gives out. Total different team second half
FU to ESPN bad bad announcers...just call the game

well the defense allowed 14 points in the 4th quarter

Ray Ray gave them 7 with his fumbled punt

Agree with every point you made.

I agree with no one getting open. On the one play, they showed the replay and we had I think 5 guys going out for a pass and not one was even close to getting open and they looked like they were jogging. I think Claypool was already out of the game at that point.

I can't speak from personal experience because I've never been a lineman but I would think it would be more difficult to figure out your blocking assignment when our play calling allows the defense to stack so many players near the los.

It's shocking no one gets open. Many people have complained Ben is not mobile. There has been many plays where he can still slide in pocket, buy time and (try) to make a play. 5 years ago when Ben does the pump fake thing someone is WIDE open. Almost automatic. Or when Ben scrambled, bought time, it was a big play more often than not. Now - nothing.

What is it going to take for Ray Ray to not get a hat? Simms is there for return and Washington should be in game more often and give Miller a shot.

Witherspoon? Joseph? can't be any worse than Edmunds and Maulet? Norwood getting less playing time?

Did I missing something yet again with Banner and McFarland? Why is Snell on this team? maybe a Watt carry every now and then?

Moore had another and down game, and that is to be expected from a rookie going against usually the best edge rusher and the Steelers rarely chip. Watt is constantly you would think Steelers would at least try? Same for Harvin, pressure and a rookie, he will get better.

As all said, play calling looked like weeks 1-4. Just don't understand ever the Defensive play calling. Fields is not a Jackson type runner nor a Wilson or Maholmes type passer. Watt and Cam bring it on every play!

Schobert is covering for Bush, he is bad. Not sure if it is injury or his read/react is not there.

IMO there is no reason they should not beat the Lions by 15, but they will need Boswell to win again.

Najee was impressive. He gets more yardage than it looks like he can. Friermuth has superb hands. Hey, is it legal to throw him the ball over the middle in the first 3 quarters?? Watt was stellar, but once again no pass rush in the 4th quarter. Guessing Highsmith and Watt are worn down, but pass rushing in the 4th quarter >> pass rushing in the 1st quarter.

Almost fell out of my chair when the refs finally called defensive PI relative to a Steelers receiver. I thought Goodfernothing changed the rules and allowed defensive backs to grab and pull and tackle Steelers receivers before the ball arrived.

Dan Moore needs to learn to take ONE MORE ******* STEP TO HIS LEFT on pass blocking. Kendrick Green better consult Barry Bonds' personal trainer and soon. He spent more time in the Steelers' backfield than Najee.

The Lions are bad but still make me nervous
The win over Da Bears just means we’re due against the Lions. I feel better going against a 7-2 team than a 2-7 team.

Watt, Freiermuth, Heyward, and Boswell get game balls along with Tony Corrente. Huge night for him ;)

Goats go to the OL, which was atrocious. Canada was a goat as well. Had a good start to the game, but got worse as it progressed. Lost the field position game because of conservative play calling.

The Steelers have been running on second and very long since at least Noll was coaching. I think it's a rule or something.
Rule or otherwise, it's just stupid in today's NFL. It's a lot easier to get 15 yards in two plays throwing the ball than it was 40 or 50 years ago. It is just additionally confounding to watch them throw the ball short of the marker on third down time and time again, even in shorter yardage situations. Hard to watch, hard to understand why they run the same plays that can only possibly work when somebody (usually Najee) breaks a tackle.

Either Tomlin doesn’t trust his 2:00 offense or doesn’t understand that timeouts can be used on defense to preserve clock for the offense.
And, ironically, it's the two-minute offense that won the Steelers the game last night.

They do it because that's where the defense isn't. They count on their playmakers to make plays.

You are giving me horrible flashbacks to the game against the Jaguars and their 10, 15 and 20 yard draw plays.

This. Every time. I'm amazed at how he just keeps churning for an extra yard to two every time he gets the ball.

I made a comment in the game where I wondered if the league had made a mandated uniform rule for Diontae Johnson where he has to wear a cornerback on his jersey.

Um, no. The opposing defense is usually right there to make the play short of the first down. Sometimes with two or three defenders. Counting on anybody breaking several tackles to simply reach the line to gain is unnecessary and fundamentally unsound, in my opinion.

So you'd rather have it thrown to covered receivers?

These short routes are covered...that's why they're not being converted to first downs.

No, I'd rather have the ball thrown past the marker, so there's a better chance of moving the chains if/when the ball is caught. It's not really a revolutionary approach.

They're not converted into first downs because there is a line of defenders at the first down line. The Steeler catches the ball and is faced with a wall of defenders he needs to get past to get the first down. It doesn't help that all of these plays have no blockers in front of the receiver.
