Game Balls, Game Goats & FU's...........week 8........vs Giants

It's a very difficult game/sport. Yes, I think that 3rd quarter stat is pretty impressive.

That is NOT a credible explanation. He HAS to know that ALL scoring plays are reviewed. Let's say for the sake of argument that he COULD challenge under those circumstances.

So he is going to challenge and expect that the guys who just overturned the TD and called the incompletion are going to review the same footage and this time rule that they are reversing themselves??

Just stupid.

See post #14, Replay Assist took place before the usual scoring play review and made the determination of incomplete pass correct, by rule. If a HC knew RA took place, then he would know a challenge flag is not available to use. Drink’s explanation is credible. RA is brand new this year and its use isn’t yet consistent.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the competition committee recommends a change in the two feet rule to incorporate the same foot twice. Otherwise how is it one knee or one elbow or hip qualifies and the same foot twice doesn’t?

I was just relaying my interpretation of his explanation. To me, it was an excuse given with him knowing better but didn't want to admit it, but after the fact.

By the way, 2025 is the final year of Watt's contract.
Omar better start thinking about talking extension this summer with TJ and his agent. 🤔

Wilson gives the offense a whole new gear. Dare I say he looks like he's still a top 10 QB. Najee is playing the best football of his career.
Haven't been this optimistic since 2017!
Makes me wonder what the hell happened in Denver? Egos clash? Incompatible offense?

Maybe Wilson got some humble pie and is back to earth or was it all on Sean Payton ?

From what I read it looks like egg on Denver’s face. But you know how that goes what you read and hear might not be the accurate picture. I do know the guy has done everything right in regards to the Steelers.

Definitely the majority of it was Payton. He wanted him gone the day he got hired. Personality clash grandeur for sure. While Wilson may have had an ego then, he’s hopefully had some “illumination” on how to be a better player/teammate. But Payton’s ego is much, much bigger and he lets you know it with his “I shout, you shut up and listen because I run the show” coach routine. I’m pretty sure Wilson didn’t buy into that being a seasoned vet. Wilson numbers last year were pretty good. Payton didn’t like it when he deviated from his Wafflehouse menu play-call sheet. He’s looking for another Drew Brees who he molded to run his offense his way, not an experienced QB who doesn’t think like he does. Why do you think he was so quick to start Nix?

The next time someone suggests the Steelers trade up in the first to get a player, they should get slapped.
The first two times they did it, though, worked fantastically (Polamalu/S.Holmes). The last two, ehhhhh, not so much. I guess it’s a wash.

Yeah, I was one of those on the "Russell Wilson really stunk in Denver" bandwagon until I saw the graphic during the MNF broadcast noting that last year, Wilson had 26 TD's, 8 picks and a 104.4 QB rating.

Those are better stats than any Steelers QB not named "Roethlisberger" ever posted.

yes, I knew those numbers since the day we signed him, my question back then was "is his arm shot? or is his attitude a deal breaker for Denver?". I mean, it's a shitload of money they gave him to basically leave the team.

2023 Broncos weapons make the Steelers look like a first team all pro Offense. They had garbage everywhere. Courtland Sutton, Jerry Juedy and Tim Patrick. All bums.
Javonte Williams was the only starter in the league with worse rushing efficiency than Najee Harris, with half as many touchdowns. Add in a no name tight end, weak O-line, and an egomaniac coach who made a career riding the coattails of a Hall of fame QB in Drew Brees.

Russel played better than he should have given the situation. He even beat KC and Buffalo.

Let's hope he can do it in the Black and Gold

I am almost positive that it is a combination of all of that. All of these things can be true at the same time.

Offensively the Steelers came out running the football effectively tonight against a good Giants front 7.
The Giants do not have a good front 7. They came in allowing 5.4 yards per carry, and that's exactly what the Steelers averaged.

Other than Dexter Lawrence, their front seven sucks donkey dick.

Actually Russ's passer rating was 98.0 last year with the Broncos, but that's still pretty good.

I was excited when the Steelers signed him, but still frustrated when Tomlin yanked Fields after six games. Wilson's mobility has been serviceable behind a line that has performed better than I thought it would, and it appears that (at least for now) MT's decision was a good one.

Signs seem to indicate all of them did take place.

I’ve never been a fan of trading up. The NFL draft is a crap shoot, that’s pretty well established. Most picks, in hindsight, are mistakes to some extent. Even if a pick turn out to be good, there’s a good chance an even better player was available. Trading up flies in the face of all of that.

Except in the rare occasion you have a Troy or Woodson. But several trade ups turned out of be garbage, I give you Bush; true trash. (I didn't mean to imply Rod was traded up for, I don't recall, but he was a known slam dunk great pick who the Steelers never even spoke with before drafting, according to Rod.)

Troy was traded up for though.
