GAME THREAD- Kitties Vs. Stillers

My fear is the Bungals are gonna embarrass us in two weeks. They may get 6 or 7 sacks. Praying for a miracle that they pick up some scrap heap cuts that are better that what we have. The O is not showing all their cards and the D is vanilla, so I hope they have a real plan and come out like a team possessed in Cincy.
The line was a little worse last year and we still beat the Bills.

I would look for a trade partner for Claypool, he brings nothing special and is not a game changer.

NOT me, This was only pre-season. I bet he picks it up from here on out. I don't know what everyone expects but not all WRs are superstars. Claypool draws coverage and that is a good thing. He has flashed and will again. Get to real games and real game plans and then we can get a better idea on him.

Last year it seemed like we were calling 5 yard or less plays, this year so far it seems they are using more of the field. I hope O'Canada has improved and can utalize our weapons better.

0.0 % chance of that… he had a high % of impact plays out of the slot and was still ok outside… most of his issues are correctable and probably due to ike hilliard being a formerly great wr but not being a great wr coach.. he brings a combination of size and speed that is a nightmare in the slot… guys like CA3 and gunner aren’t going to be great fits in the two wideout positions… with boykin you get a lesser version of Claypool… same size and speed, but not as good catching the ball or body control… Claypool is probably a better YAC guy too..
I meann if someone offered a surefire long term solution at LT… fine… but his ability to play so many wr positions and at his size and speed, thatsmore valuable than you think… especially as Pickens and Dj draw coverage away

He can't stay on his feet and DBs are not worried about him and DCs don't feel the need to game plan around him. I think there are enough young WRs that show more heart and determination on the roster.

hopefully he has a great season. we could trade him next year for a 2nd.
1st round- best oline player 2 2nd round picks best 2 oline players.

No one sees him as a nightmare. He's average at best

Good assessment. Wonder if a coach like Munch would fare better. O-line and O-line coach has been very sub par since he left.

Munch would be the best offensive coach on the team should he be hired back. He took guys like Beachu and Banner and made them valuable so Moore would have a fighting chance if Munch was here. Munch would also intall blocking technique that would seem to work better as well.

Again, his metrics from the slot were much better than his numbers outside, where he would do this weird adjustment on deep balls…

Steelers fans often get lost in a vacuum with players on the team… to put Claypool in perspective last year, his over all numbers were nearly identical to his rookie numbers except that he wasn’t as productive in catching touchdowns… that really was his only drop off… he had nearly the same receptions, same targets same yardage… hell his rushing yards jumped to 6.9 ypa but he didn’t score a td.

His production was virtually the same as DK metcalf and just a hair below AJ Brown… in the entire nfl, counting rbs, wrs and Tes, he was 35th in yards and 54th in receptions… that is incredibly solid for at best a #2 wr

Yeah his talent level is way higher than his production, but you dont throw the baby out with the bathwater after his sophomore season…

He started out with a ton of upside but regressed to being Just A Guy.
Claypool hit a wall and hopefully he dedicated himself more this year. Reports are that he has so we will see. I think he started out so good, got a huge ego, became less dedicated, then things started to go bad, and he didnt handle it well. He started blaming everyone under the sun but himself for his issues and I think it was frustration and lack of maturity. Reports are that he learned and I have much more hope for him than Bush. He has a lot of natural talent just needs to work hard and put it together.

Exactly.
I'm thinking Stonio Holmes minus the weed.

No, I would trade the baby, he is 100% replaceable... The other young WR just spent the preseason showing that. He is no Metcalf or Brown not even on his best day.

I dont know folks, I just can't get into Trubisky. I know most of it probably stems from me being a Pitt fan, but QBs on their 3rd team in 3 years don't usually lead anyone anywhere.

If you are telling me that Tomlin wants trubisky to get abused rather than Pickett while they sort out the O line, I guess I can live with that.

But no one will convince me that Trubisky is a more skilled QB than Pickett.
Based on Trubisky’s limited contract and the drafting of Pickett, I’d guess the Steelers aren’t all that into Trubisky either. Given our questionable OL, Trubisky is probably the best option right now.

I love this. Guys say this every year, and come regular season, the Steelers do the same **** on offense and defense that they did in the pre-season and people are surprised.

Yeah. Our O line is poop. I don't think anyone can deny that at this point.

What will it take to cut Devin Bush

The good O'l memories now if we could just get our OL to the level of OL at the time of this clip
