General NFL week one thread

Seattle is not a great team. They are just a tough team in a candy *** league and most teams don't have the will to deal with them. If you dropped this Seahawk team down in say 1998, they'd probably be a 9 win team struggling to make the playoffs.

I respect your opinion, Tape, but it is all relative.

The 1985 Bears were not tough compared to the 1976 Steelers, as the 2000 Ravens compared to that Bears team and so on.

Based on today's rules, the Seahawks are great. Look what they did to the record-shattering Broncos' offense in the Super Bowl.

There's a lot of things NFL teams USED to be able to do ... Tackle comes to mind

I tell you, their OC is calling a hell of a game. Talk about getting everyone involved. Harvin looks like he will have a hell of a season. Lynch's success is setting up everything.

He (Darrell Bevell) will be a head coach next year.

He'd look good in black and gol.....never mind.

I can't believe the Mensas running the Texans didn't at least interview him...

Sounds good. Looks good on paper when you write it.

But they've been hammering teams for some time now. They are 17-1 at home over the last two seasons. So until someone figures them out, they're the best in the business. They do alot of things well, and I've yet to find a weak spot that can be exploited regularly.

Maybe you're saying that the entire league sucks. Well then ok. But in terms of what is and isn't a very good team in this league, I'm sorry but Seattle is it.

This game shows why Bell was the better pick than Lacy. Seattle is not scared of the Packers, so for one of the few times, Lacy must go against an honest rush defense instead of the nickel defenses he usually shreds.

Since the run is not working, they are playing Starks more than Lacy because he is the more versatile back. Bell is much more versatile than Lacy and can be a 3 down back.[/

Didn't they talk last night about how Lacy was still able to be productive last year even though a lot of teams were stacking 8 men in the box because they weren't as worried about the pass while Rodgers was out most of the year with a broken clavicle?

How long until Wilson gets his big payday? They've got a lot of talent on that team, but they won't be able to keep it all.

That, and they have absolutely stockpiled edge rushers.

And last night they just kept throwing them over that back up RT and eating him alive.

Wow ... first game of the NFL season and GB comes out flat. What was McCarthy thinking? I wonder how he could bring this team to play on national tv and not have them prepared to play? It's a shame that an NFL team could come out and look like this.
Blame Coach Tomlin!!!

Crazy talk, Tape - just crazy...

You have to give them their props and they are the best because they haven't had to "pay" huge contracts on all of these players yet. Once they do - they'll come back down to Earth.

Excellent post.

As a Sunday ticker subscriber, I kind of hate these 1pm Sunday kick offs for the Steelers, as I cannot really browse the rest of games and get my money's worth. The best I can do is pick one or two games to which to turn during commercials. Fortunately, that will not be the case next Sunday.
