Get Roman Wilson on the field

I don't know what our coaches are doing, but the kid can't be worse than the line of scrubs we've had on the field so far behind Pickens. Get the guy a helmet, ffs.

Joe

There is no discernible pattern to how Tomlin Utilizes rookie wrs...
Most see action their very first game, like Pickens or DJ... others like AB are used very little as a rookie...

CA3 got hurt in camp like wilson and then practiced like wilson, then they kept him on IR all season because i guess they needed a roster spot...

i suspect because Wilson got hurt and was IR'd they are making certain he is good on the routes and such ... its probably mostly that tge injuries at other positions dont allow them the luxury of dressing an extra wr who hast proven what he can do in the league yet.. he will dress as soon as there is roster flexibility to carry a fifth non special teams gunner type wr...

To this point, maybe he is?

It is still way too early for the bust speculation, but his inability to see the field is becoming a concern.

Tomlin definitely has not had an issue with playing rookie WRs early and often in the past.

He has been healthy for a few weeks now, and it's not like he hasn't been practicing within the scheme since OTAs in May.

Regardless of the reason, he clearly is not showing what they expected to see from him.

Even the Steelers miss on WRs from time to time, and it's naive to think it isn't starting to look that way a little bit here, though we need another year or two to know for sure.

I'm not sure that dressing 4 WRs and 4 TEs is the solution that helps Wilson get on the field. It's made tougher since the versatile Patterson at WR/RB is out.

Looks like the new 5 wide is much closer to heavy jumbo than most would like to see.

When getting the ultra talented Heyward and Pruitt on the field often is essential it really makes the WR depth look like trash, those guys aren’t exactly matchup problems for a D

VJ is useless as a two, maybe even as a three

At least put CA3 out there and take advantage of his speed to run a few deep routes early to back the defense up, I’ve yet to see what element VJ brings to the table other than an easy cover for the D that allows them to focus on the other side of the field and the run game

It’s CAIII’s rookie season all over again.

I read somewhere (Dulac, iirc) that the kid is not up to speed on the “details” of the playbook. If true, it’s a Roman Wilson problem and Tomlin is not allowing it to become a Pittsburgh Steelers problem. I’m OK with his decision “if” that’s the issue.

Holy Terrible towels Batman! Are people already calling him a bust because he hasnt suited up four games into his career?
You do realize that many rookies dont play right away... I really do think people in this fanbase think if a guy doesnt start on day 1 with HOF level play, they are a bust...

We all know the only way a guy is a surefire bust year 1 is if his head is too big ...

Tomlin does this all of the time and especially with skill position players. If you miss part or all of the preseason, you may not play at all during the season. I've said this before as well. Roman can't be any worse than the guys getting a helmet. Hopefully, Tomlin will let him play after the bye but I'm not holding my breath.

From a clip of him running a route this week he isn’t fully healthy. He looked very slow breaking his route to do a comeback. Being a rookie who missed a lot he isn’t ready.

He probably fumbled once in practice. That's a 4-week sentence on the sideline for a rookie under Tomlick.

JuJu took a while to get on the field as well, but at some point you just need to throw the guy in there and see what he can do. Some guys just do not practice well. Im sure we can find someone to deactivate where it would not be an issue.

if they are needed hge production from a 3rd round pick, that would be the problem

Again, how does anyone know he is currently better than the WRs playing in front of him? He has yet to play in an NFL game.

With past rookies you've alluded to, who did the Steelers have in front of them on the depth chart?

It's simply not a good look when Wilson cannot even be active on a roster desperate for WR production.

DK reported he isn't healthy enough to play yet.

Jen Zwaine favored him…………..

Indeed that does appear to be the problem that they do need some production from someone other than GP.
CA3 may be a decent 3 this year but we went into the season without a 2. So the lack of a WR2 problem is showing itself and making fans want to rush the recovering rookie…which is not the answer.

Not the rookie’s problem though. Patience is the key with a kid that hasn’t played a down yet. If they rushed in him and he gets hurt or doesn’t know his route and causes picks then people would scream about that and call him a bust.

Khan just needs to somehow pull a vet WR2 out of his hat before the trade deadline if this squad wants to end the playoff drought…or the D will have to be firing on all cylinders every minute of the game come playoff time.

With he way this offense looked for most of the game tonight, how much worse could it be with him in there?

If there is a defense left. We are suddenly very thin again at OLB. And it showed.

Amazing how the injuries always seem to hit position groups at the same time

Last year ILB and S

This year OL, then RB now OLB

Ugh
