Why is elftardPoloLiar so worked up about the United States and AGW? Data show the U.S. has reduced its CO2 emissions to the lowest levels in 50 years.

Direct your hatred at the Indians and the Chinese, elftard.

The problem is southeast Asia. I tell people all the time. Get a Globe. Put a thumbtack in Hong Kong and measure a string to the top of Japan (approximately 2000 miles). HALF of the worlds population and rising live in the 2000 mile circle around Hong Kong.

That part of the world is unsustainable. Over half the people there haven't even STARTED using fossil fuels yet. And there is no way American policy (or European policy for that matter) is going to stop it from happening. The Paris Climate accord didn't even DISCUSS this circle of people until 20 years from now.

The idea Americans, isolated in North American in relatively sparse population densities, can have a huge impact on world-wide climate change is ludicrous. We are literally like a cat farting vs. the cow farting in Asia adding pollution and CO2 to the atmosphere right now. Their ecosystems are FUBAR.

The whole point of the Paris accord was to get other countries to do something to reduce emmissions. But no, we ran away from that in a hissy fit with our hair on fire.

Paris was a joke... im all for replacing Trump if a better option is actually available , but he got that right 1000%

The conservatives are correct that most of the world have been using environmental policy to kneecap US markets... China refuses to follow environmental or safety standards for everything else... you really think they would ever adhere to anything they agree on here you are nuts...

He doesn't give a damn. He just wants to punish the U.S. by making them pay a billion dollars to 3rd world countries. He doesn't give a **** about the environment proper. He doesn't care if China and India spew CO2 out their ***** for years. All that matters is punishing the U.S. You know it, I know it, and even though he won't admit it, he knows it.

If other countries want to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, go for it. We've already proven with or without the Paris Climate Accord, the U.S. is already doing that. Our per capita CO2 emissions are lower than 1950 and going down. We will naturally (through market-driven forces and smart, fair regulations) achieve the Paris Climate goals as a nation already.

What we will NOT do is throw billions of dollars into a pot that despot leaders in Africa and Southeast Asia can take from under the "claims" it will counteract their losses to produce energy using clean methods. I'm not buying the bullshit.

It's nice to see China and India still commit to lower their greenhouse gas emissions. I hope they do because they are the main culprits and will be for the rest of this century. I don't really buy that either because recent trends don't show much reduction at all. And India is still hell bent on building coal power plants.

Just do it without an open checkbook from the U.S. We're not going to stifle our economy while countries like India and China get a short term pass to expand their energy resources without a care in the world to the environment.

New York's Global Warming Suit Against Oil Companies Tossed

A U.S. judge threw out New York’s suit seeking to hold five of the world’s biggest oil companies financially responsible for contributing to climate change.

"Global warming and solutions thereto must be addressed by the two other branches of government," not the judiciary, Keenan wrote in an opinion Thursday.

The companies won a similar ruling in June that threw out complaints by the cities of San Francisco and Oakland, California.

House votes to disavow carbon tax

The House passed a measure Thursday to denounce a carbon tax, calling it “detrimental” to the United States.

The resolution, sponsored by House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), states that a tax on emissions of carbon dioxide — the most prevalent greenhouse gas that causes climate change — “would be detrimental to American families and businesses, and is not in the best interest of the United States.”

It passed 229-180 with two members voting present.

“This resolution will send a clear signal to the American people that we oppose policies that would drive up energy prices for families and for businesses,” Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Texas) said Thursday on the House floor.

NBC’s Al Roker Now Says Climate Change Causing Fewer Hurricanes

After the liberal media spent years telling viewers that climate change would increase the frequency and severity of hurricanes, on Friday, NBC’s Today show weatherman Al Roker revealed that the changing climate would actually decrease the number of storms during the upcoming hurricane season.

“And just in, we have an update for our hurricane season 2018 from the National Hurricane Center....the August update is that we’ve got a 60% chance of a below-normal hurricane season. That would be great news,” Roker announced during a weather report in the 7:30 a.m. ET half hour. He then explained the cause: There are a couple of reasons for this. Unfortunately, because of the rapidly melting icecaps due to climate change, the sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic are much colder than average

BWAhahahahahaha!

In two papers — published today in the journals Environmental Research Letters and Joule — Harvard University researchers find that the transition to wind or solar power in the U.S. would require five to 20 times more land than previously thought, and, if such large-scale wind farms were built, would warm average surface temperatures over the continental U.S. by 0.24 degrees Celsius.

So it causes warming. Uh oh. On top of that, how much land would it take?

To estimate the impacts of wind power, Keith and Miller established a baseline for the 2012‒2014 U.S. climate using a standard weather-forecasting model. Then, they covered one-third of the continental U.S. with enough wind turbines to meet present-day U.S. electricity demand. The researchers found this scenario would warm the surface temperature of the continental U.S. by 0.24 degrees Celsius, with the largest changes occurring at night when surface temperatures increased by up to 1.5 degrees. This warming is the result of wind turbines actively mixing the atmosphere near the ground and aloft while simultaneously extracting from the atmosphere’s motion.

One third of the continental US! Sounds like a great solution. The opening sentence from this article should be table stakes understanding for anyone debating energy topics -
When it comes to energy production, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, unfortunately.

So now a new study from the PNSA Proceedings from the National Academy of Sciences asserts -
Empirical evidence of mental health risks posed by climate change
, when in fact what their study found was correlation between monthly average temperature and precipitation and mental health. Apparently from that data, they drew the conclusion that if there was warming, there would be a rise in mental health issues. Sure, and by that same logic if there was cooling, there would be a decrease in mental health issues. Apparently "climate change" only means warming.

This is not empirical evidence of health risks caused by climate change, and this is not science.

Lol at the new UN report... for the millionth time taxing carbon is a money grab, pure and simple..... and it only is levied on countries like the us... and it basically blocks the poor from owning cars...

China is the leading country creating solar energy and India is on a fast track path to catch up to them.
Many in these countries transport themselves by bicycle. Meanwhile in Florida, you really have to search
hard to find a solar panel on a residence.

Pretty much. I liken it to a recently cleaned fish aquarium that was neglected for years. You can barely see the fish gasping their last breaths through all the algae, so I guess it's time for a clean-up.

And what caused Chinas pollution, coal. They are also building a high speed (300 MPH) train transportation system.
Highest US trains go about 150 MPH, we are falling way behind. We dwell in the past and China builds an economy

So the United States should model its economy on China, right? Well, then, I guess you are you proposing the United States revert to child labor, a 12-hour workday, dangerous working conditions, and artificially low wages.

The investigation reveals that the employees at the factories work up to 74 hours a week, with a monthly overtime of 52 to 136 hours, are moved between day and night shifts at their employers' will, and in peak seasons work 7 days a week. The factories pay very low wages, making it impossible for workers to live off a 40 hour working week. At two factories a base wage below the region's minimum wage was found. The workers are exposed to harsh fumes without proper protection and experience a psychologically harsh work environment and verbal abuse.

The Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., (also known by its trading name, Foxconn), has been accused of violating labour rights for many years. They keep their employees in overcrowded dormitories run by military-like security forces. People work excessive hours, often with no compensation for overtime, which the company claims is done voluntarily. Management controls every aspect of workers’ lives, interfering with their privacy. The concept of privacy is even an illusion, as up to 24 people share a room in huge blockhouses.

Foxconn employs about 1.2 million workers in China. In Shenzhen and Chengdu, a combined Foxconn workforce of 500,000 provides labour for Apple Inc. Violations against workers have already been widely reported over the last decade. However, in recent years these issues have drawn more attention from international media and human rights organisations as there have been a number of suicides and frequent riots in Chinese Foxconn factories.

Sounds great.

Why can't the United States get its head out of its *** and model our economy on those geniuses running the Chinese economy??

I wonder how many environmental and safety studies they did before starting on that 300mph train? I'm sure they paid fair price for anyone's land they may have needed, right?

China pollutes way more than we do and thats after the government lies about what they are emitting... they have real human rights violations, not the entitled fabricated horrors people here whine about... they are totalitarian to the extreme and the fact that leftist embrace them so hard shows how clueless that side can be....$10 jeans be damned... id rather us shut that evil country off completely than enable that shitshow of pure evil...
