Herm Edwards: Super Bowl XLIX prediction (Steelers vs. Buccaneers)

Snizzap!!!

Last time I checked the season was 16 games long not nine. I also stated offense not total points scored. On those stats one would need to remove defensive points, and special teams points. If you count the rest of the season how does that affect your numbers, those games still count right? Black and Gold we have had games where we did put up some points but again I am looking at a season with that reference and just offensive points. Hope that clarifies what I was referring to.

I doubt we make the playoffs let alone the superbowl

*sits up straight in chair, removes hat*

Sorry Mr. Wingman, we didn't know that the season was 16 games long, we swear it!

It's all good, and I do like the trend toward more scoring on offense. It is much better to be moving in that direction than the other way. I was just trying to show that it is not easy to score points consistently for our team and for them to be a real force they have got to change somethings to make it happen.

I think they gel'd after six games.. Whether it had to do with the no huddle.. or scrapping of the zone scheme ( for the most part) , a rookie RB, A disaster at LT, beachum stepping up and suring up the position, ben doing it the haley way... whatever.. it started working. Now we lost 2 experienced wide outs... These new guys need to get on the boat .

I think we will still have a bad record again do to the rebuilding of the team. I do not know if we will get the rest of the team and play makers needed to win the big one before Ben hangs it up. I am thinking in two more years we may have a good team ready to go deep in the playoffs and maybe win the big one again. I think it will take two more drafts to get the rest of the parts, if they are good drafts, and that is a big if.

Tampa needs a qb to win 10 games nether mckown or Glennon I feel can do that, unless the D dominates and unless doug martin has solid ap like year.

if our secondary on the corners can play well and if the ol picks off where it left off and jarvis kicks it up we should be 11-5.

Not surprising Herm picks two guys from the Dungy coaching tree.

That underachieving coaching group is thick as thieves (Edwards, Tomlin, Smith, Marinelli, Kiffin, et. al.)

You would call Tomlin underachieving?

C'mon man...

I believe he did, and many folks on here have as well quite consistently.

Could we win the Super Bowl? Of course but there's a bit of question marks that need answered. Pass rush- can Worilds repeat? Can JJ become the sack artist he was in College and live up to his draft status. Will Heyward be the same next year can we find a guy opposite of Heyward. Will our CB situation hold up? Will Mitchell help get us turnovers? Can TP stay healthy again? Will our offensive line hold up? Will a solid #2 receiver emerge? Will Bell/Blount be a force in the running game?

A lot of questions need answers but I am hopeful.

Could we win the Super Bowl? Doubt it, but anything is possible. Pass rush- can Worilds repeat? Yes, I think he will be better this year. Can JJ become the sack artist he was in College and live up to his draft status. Doubt it. Will Heyward be the same next year can we find a guy opposite of Heyward-maybe. Will our CB situation hold up? Doubt it. Will Mitchell help get us turnovers? Love this signing, I think our Safeties will be among the best in the NFL this year. Can TP stay healthy again? God I hope so. Will our offensive line hold up? Yes Will a solid #2 receiver emerge? Yes, Wheaton is going to have a solid year. Will Bell/Blount be a force in the running game? Oh hell yeah, our run game is going to shock most casual NFL fans.

A lot of questions need answers but I am hopeful.

Just my honest opinions.

In my opinion, Tomlin has underachieved in 4 of his 7 seasons as head coach. 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2013. In addition, I think Tomlin has lost two playoff games where he had the far superior quarterback (vs. Gerrard in '08 and Tebow in '12). Those are fairly embarrassing losses on his resume.

The question is really how much forgiveness do you give for those failures because of his one great over-achievement season at winning the Super Bowl. Each fan answers that question differently.

I think when you look at the totality of his work and the talent on the roster (which I fully admit has flaws), I can't honestly convince myself Tomlin has gotten more our of this team than any other coach in the NFL would have. Can you?

I agree with this. You have to look at the talent and what he got out of it.

I'm in middle management and it's all about motivation. You can't just be a friend you need to know when to push and when to let off. I think they are bringing in Cowhers old players as coaches because they received such coaching and responded to it. Tomlin is just a puppet in my opinion the great black hype.

The last coach got more out of the team than he did.
