Yep, whiny ***** himself

When Chuck Noll retired as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 1991 season, there was a lot of speculation about who would replace him. Dan Rooney went through an exhaustive process before selecting Bill Cowher, but one of the earliest candidates that Rooney spoke with was Mike Holmgren.

Rooney had principled criteria when it came to hiring a head coach, including making the decision more than just about football and that there was a difference between wanting to be an NFL coach and being the Steelers head coach. When Rooney talked with Holmgren, he asked him a question along the lines of, “If I offered you the job right now, would you take it?” When Holmgren answered, “I want to go to Green Bay and hear what the Packers have to offer,” Rooney knew he wasn’t the man for the Steelers job.

Biggest ******* whiner ever.

The Walrus whined at green bay as well and everyone knows of the *** kicking he got in the SB and tried to sway focus, ******* puke.

Glad Dan had a plan !!!!

Great takes here… the walrus was good but Cowher Power was definitely more entertaining …. Pretty sure ol’ coach cowher learned his lessons on losing it on refs when he stuffed that photo in the refs pocket

Have to say though I have no fault with Holmgren's reasoning at the time and he'd probably feel like in hindsigth he got the much better end of the QB deal with the Steelers still living the curse of Marino for another decade and a half to come. Rooney was asking him to kiss his rings on the spot!

Holmgren was still a d-bag nonetheless!

Rooney was not asking him to kiss his ring, he was judging his interest in the position

You say that now, looking back in hindsight.

But who knows how we’d perceive him if he was the coach.

NEVER liked the walrus anywhere but if he had become a STEELERS coach then things change, that is obvious.

Holgrem took hiself out of the picture which shows some of his arrogance which happens to be the root of some of the dislike for him.

Just glad with the outcome of Bill Cowher becoming the HC.!!!!

He was hired by the Browns to be the GM, paying him $8 million/yr.
Was an utter failure and was run out of town taking $$millions$$ with him.

Those Browns seem to get "jacked" quite often. It goes to show the O'l saying

"if it's brown flush it down"

has merit................
