How do you call taunting on this?

I hate referring to BleacherReport but Mike P's comments are worth it.

There's a nice moving .GIF in the article of the play also.

Just saw taunting call in PIT what in the world did #22 do?! Posing like that NOT a foul – was there something else TV cams didnt pickup?

The refs don't have to be seen or heard from. Call a foul a foul and otherwise get the **** out of the way. Terrible call.

It's called getting even for the non fumble call on Ben earlier. Ben did fumble but they called it incomplete. I'm just glad we punted quickly before it could be reviewed.

I thought maybe he stood over the guy, the guy got up immediately and left the screen. He wasn't near him. That is beyond brutal. Who the **** is he taunting. He can stand there until they line up to punt as far as I'm concerned. What could have he said. The guy wasn't even there.

I would so love that to be the case. I cant stand the WR running the 9 route, the qb throws it short and gets the pi. (In other words, the Ravens gameplan vs pittsburgh)

Also hate the automatic first down on a 5 yd defensive holding call. Give them the 5 yards and the down over. Cant stand a 5 yard infraction giving a team a first down on a third and 12. Make it 3rd and 7.

Gotta give something back to the defense.

I know what you are saying, but that hold could be a Td preventer. If you man is breaking wide open you could just pull him down and get a 5 yrd penalty instead of giving up a Td. I do think PI needs somekinda rework though along with minor penalties offsetting personal fouls.

I asked our resident Field Judge to explain taunting to me without having given him (he worked the Browns/panthers yesterday) the details of the Gay penalty and his descriptions always included getting into the face of an opponent. Once I described what happened he could only guess "excessive celebration". Which he says is not taunting.

Just a bad call. My only guess was that since the Chief's player was withing 3-4 yards it was taunting. He receiver did not eve see Gay do it.

Timmons seems to have hurt feelings and did not like being taunted.

Just watch the Ravens play. Suggs and company on defense dance and taunt the crowd and whoever is watching after every play that are positive for them and calls for a hold or push off every play it is not. Now i do not like what Bell and Brown do after getting a first down either. JJ Watts is bad as mentioned above.

I always thought when a team gets sacked, they should immediately run to the line of scrimmage and try and get a play off and catch them dancing off sides.

Yes the NFL penalty system needs a total overhaul... for instance if a player got a personal foul on a play, there is nothing but a fine holding him back from committing another right away, since they don't stack them... and PI is too much a gamechanger these days. it all needs a total changeup

Agreed. Penalties should stack, and offsetting penalties should really offset (a 5-yard foul by team A and 15-yard foul by team B should result in a net 10-yard penalty on team B and the down counts), not cancel the play and repeat the down.

Seems to me the first down signal offensive players do is more taunting than what Gay did. Seems like
if the defense stops a first down, they should be able to display a similar degree of emotion as offensive players are allowed.

Just watched replay of Pats** game with Jets from Sunday. On the first TD of the game by Gronkowski, Lafell does the exact same thing as Gay. The refs throw the flag. They then announce "no penalty for taunting" and pick it up.

Last night, Hill trucked Talib on a running play, then stood over him and stared down. No flag. WTF?

Yeah, the crew today was heinous. From the non catch ruled a catch to the non fumble ruled a fumble to this BS call....it was horrid.

What about the play down in the redzone where the Chiefs tight end I believe it was caught a pass on third down and was a what looked like a full yard short of the first down and the officials gave them a first down. The graphics even came up on the screen before the snap on the following play "4th & 1"... and what's just as bad is the nimrods calling the game never even eluded to it at all. Thought that was very strange.

Yeah I remember seeing it as 4th and 1 and then they cut away to commercial. When they came back from commercial, it was 2nd and something....I was totally confused.
