How much did Shazier shrink? He looks 212 lbs.

Shazier was not drafted for size. It's like knocking Antonio because he doesn't block like Hines. Shazier was drafted to be a 3 down player who can match up with TEs and cover WRs in a zone and also to blitz. He missed a lot of time so i'm not worried about him yet.

Shazier was kind of a slow learner at OSU. He was good early in his career but really took a big step forward in his last season.

Jarvis is a different story. He was given tons of pass rush chances last year and produced almost nothing. He is producing nothing this year. I have a feeling the steelers were more than happy to give Jarvis plenty of time with his injury because it stopped them having to find a spot for him.

I think Jarvis is the 6th best outside pass rusher. Harrison, Worilds, Moats, Timmons, and even Polamalu will get better pressure at OLB. I would have even put Keisel and Josh Mauro ahead of him.

I keep hearing about how Jarvis gets a good "push". Bullshit. James Harrison gets a push. Harrison doesn't get a sack every play but on a lot of his plays, he moves the pocket and causes the QB to move. Jarvis rarely does even that. What Jarvis does can easily be done by a cheap late round guy.

Jarvis has been injured a lot, so maybe once again we hope he has some magic offseason where he gets stronger or faster or learns some moves.

I hope they don't repeat the mistake they made with Ziggy. I don't mean the mistake of drafting him. I mean the mistake of playing Ziggy ahead of Heyward for so long in hopes that the light would suddenly come on for Ziggy. I can understand that for a first or second year player, but when you get into year 3 and a guy still hasn't shown anything, that's when you make it an open competition for the job.

Maybe I've missed something but who other than Pop has indicated Shazier is 212 lbs? Who cares what he looks like he weighs.

Players with athletic builds and muscle tone often look lighter than they actually are. Shazier is a workout freak.

I was really wanting to see more from Shazier than we did this year but hopefully he will be more of a contributor next year. I am glad Williams has been a pleasant surprise as has Spence a kid who everyone thought would not ever play again.

play him him in the derrick brooks role with timmons at rolb and spence/vince rotate at lolb, if we retain worlids de maybe next year.

Brings to mind all those years when our visual "weight watchers" thought Casey was too fat.

The PED stuff is just stupid stop with that crap. That's just asinine. You would have you go off that stuff(it would have to be really harsh crap as well) and use nothing at all to help you system recover for him to crash like that. Even that would take months of doing nothing. It's just fiction. Science&training is a lot more advanced then some 1970's idiot bodybuilder cycle with zero hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis recovery..;) Just stop with that nonsense...haha

Should have taken ogletree from Georgia, 220 tackles and 22 passed knocked down, logical replacement for farrior who retired. We had Woodley and worlds. If we,d taken olgetree we could have traded around and got a db that we need desperately. I know we are in the playoffs but some in the front office responsible jones, Landry jones, sharknado Thomas, et al, should be fired.

Shazier's first year with the team is still a question mark on what he can actually do for our defense. Not enough playing time to really evaluate his effectiveness. We'll all watch his progress through next season. We definitely keep Timmons to provide guidance and experience at LB. Troy may be gone after this year, not sure if his replacement is currently on the team or do we grab another free agent or draft one?

He had a bad ankle, right? Nothing would stop him from working upper body, chest, bis, tris, lats, delts. My hunch is he knew he wasn't gonna be playing for a while so he got off PEDs - that is pure conjecture and a guess, but something made him deflate pretty radically.

According to this vid, we reached when we took him; they had him go late first to mid 2nd, 25-50 range. So far, I wouldn't disagree with this guy about what his takes were on him.

Pretty well known that the Cowgirls were going to take him...they were one pick behind us.....

Hopefully if DC is back or Butler take over they use him as a hytbrid LB/S in the base MLB nickel we could be dime 4-1-6 nickel 4-2-5
Shazier in Brooks drop back spy and cover CF on crossing routes in the dime and in the nickel LB/S
at 6"2 215-220 and at 4.36 he has the speed to be a dual player ala troy, and if he gets a int can do real damage.

let's assume Mclendon returns at a cap friendly 3 year deal, we could do this
nickel front 6
LE Worlids NGMclendon/Mcullers 3T Heyward RE Tuitt OLB Timmons MLB Shazier

Dime where many great DB blitzes possible

ROLB Jones
DT Heyward
DT Thomas/Mcullers
LB Worlids
MLB Timmons
CB Allen
CB Mccain
DB Shazier play spy/blitz
FS Mitchell
SS Thomas
extra db Blake/rookie blitz or over top

Anyone with any knowledge re: weight and looks can plainly see he is no where near 240. He is closer to 210. At the combine he weighed 238, he ain't at that weight now.

And playing ILB being that small, he had a whopping 2 tackles last game.

Well he only played 1/3 of the game or less. He split time with both Williams and Spence.

Kid looked just as big at tOSU as he did at the combine. One thing to keep in mind is that these rookies were used to having access to a training table for breakfast, lunch and dinner and nutritionists who developed specific diets for them When they get to the NFL, they have to determine how to adjust so that they don't lose weight as the season goes on. That's why many NFL players hire their own nutritionists. Heck, even Farrior was on the record saying that he had trouble keeping weight on during the season and that by the end of a season he could be down around or below 220 Lbs (as the Buck LB).

Personally, I think it's a little irresponsible to go out of your way to suggest that the kid is on PEDs w/out any proof other than "I have two working eyes".

Isn't he about the same size as Chancellor in Seattle?

Shazier would be a good maybe a great OLB.Speed rush vs.300+ tackles, pass coverage , outside run support would be exceptional.the would have to be coached up to take on run plays right at him. He would have 2 great teachers in Porter and Harrison.

The dude is still a rookie who missed many weeks due to injury. So, this argument is nonsense already. And, they already said he would be used all over the field due to his speed. The game is heading that way. All teams need someone to cover TE's and RB's. He is even fast enough to cover most WR's. I'm certainly not going to even think about worrying about the dude until late in his second year. He looked good in camp and when he briefly played. The injury set him (and any rookie) back probably double the time he actually missed.

He also had a whopping 20 snaps on defense.

Fact is the day of the 245 - 250 pound thumper are over. Many defenses are set up for the line to try and penetrate and stop the run on the way to the quarterback and for ILBs to play a sort of Safety/Linebacker hybrid. You need linebackers like Shazier to match up with running backs and tight ends in today's NFL.

I'd be more worried about Shaziers speed going away for some reason before I'd worry too much about his weight his rookie year.

I honestly thought he looked 213 instead of 212 but he may have had an extra knee brace on. Did you ever do the old carnival weight guessing games?

People guess I'm 185-190,but i'm between 206-210 most of the time.
