I strongly feel they have underperformed. Only one coach gets ridicule for that. You are steering the ship and your sideway approach has been headed for an iceberg. It is no wonder the ship is sinking. Dare to make repairs with players and assistants. The problem, as I see it, is that most of the Steelers' problems seem to be self-inflicted. I honestly do not believe this team is this bad. I mean, it's one thing to have a losing season or whatever, but you can be competitive in the process. You will likely see improvements in some areas. But this team is regressing on both sides of the ball. You never know what you are going to get out of the defense as they have been terrible at times, awesome during the Bengals game, and pretty decent a couple times.
The offense has fallen off a cliff. The play calling has not changed in nearly four years in spite of the fact that it has proven ineffective repeatedly. Innovation in this offense is running a jet sweep with Sims instead of Claypool. Sure, the Steelers may still lose more games than they win, but I just don't understand the philosophy of rarely working the middle of the field, throwing 5 yards short of the sticks on 3rd & 8, and doing it over and over and over in spite of glaring evidence that it isn't working. And the HC says, "We're fine" and the OC thinks something "tremendous" is about to start happening with an offense that the entire NFL has figured out.
Hell, Geno Smith is doing well up in Seattle. Brissett is playing decent in Cleveland. Even Andy Dalton is playing decent football. You'll never convince me the Steelers can't be better than they are in pretty short order. Most of it isn't even hard to fix. And yet, here we are.
Problem is the Rooney's are on standby with a floatation device. Saving oh captain.
Ayyyyy
